Loved growing up, going to ELBEES in Waterloo. This place is better. Chips and salsa are my favorite and the flour beef tacos are the best. Would highly recommend

I seriously cant get enough of Mexican/American cuisine right now. I’m just loving all of it, especially Fernando’s. The lunch rush was crazy, people flock to this place and its NUTS. Service was quick and fast, I ordered #2, this includes one soft shell taco and a smothered enchilada with beans and rice. The plates come out at about 400 degrees, theirs no shortness of coldness when this food is served. The bottom of the soft shell was a little soggy from all the great food placed below it. But it still tasted wonderful. The wife ordered the quesadilla. Packed with shredded cheese and chicken. Great taste! $ 25 for two and i left feeling super happy. Thanks again

Don’t ever get the server named Karin, hopefully they have fired her after this incident! Slow and you can tell she doesn’t like to work, she fakes every half smile and comment. Got tired of waiting for her, so went to the front to pay my bill and she finally came around then accused us of not paying our bill. I told her I paid it up front, and we walked out the door. She came running out the door and yelling at us so everyone around could hear, accused us again of not paying our bill. Wow was I mad, I walked back inside and Karin slinked away somewhere, talked to a nice lady up front and everything was fine. But I will never go back if Karin is still working there! Food and margaritas are always wonderful, the tacolado never disappoints!

We have eaten here for years — love the chicken enchiladas and the seafood enchiladas. The nachos are a great way to start a meal and the staff is always friendly & efficient. Good food & reasonably priced.

Started our dinner off with some pico and flour chips(which are freshly made and wonderful!!) I got the taco/enchiladas meal and the flavor was awesome! Moving from Arizona to omaha we were worried we would have a hard time finding a Mexican restaurant we would agree on(I am pretty picky!) the service was fast and friendly and the kids menu was extensive for my picky little eater! We will be returning!!! Very happy with not only the pricing but the experience in a whole!

Had a different taste… over all everything was good. Staff pleasant. Minus I was without refill of soda while I ate my meal. Felt a little rushed. Last but not least the beef enchilada seemed to be missing the beef… thought at first they put a cheese enchilada on instead(double checked) I’ll come back

It is simply just okay I would not go out of my way to go here. In fact I’m okay if I never go back. That being said the service was great at the bar but the food is nothing special.

I’ve been eating here for over 15 years weekly. This place is great. I highly recommend ordering the #1 or #2 from the menu all chicken smothered. Out of all the places Tex-mex I have eaten mexican or otherwise Fernandos wins for food quailty service and GREAT margaritas. Never once out of hundreds of times eating here have I had a single bone or chunk of gristle in either a beef order or chicken order. The margaritas are very strong due to the fact that they are not made with a premixed product, they use tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu here CHEERS!

I enjoyed everything about this place. Chicken enchilada was delicious and cheesy, everything I was hoping for. The flour chips and pico de gallo are delicious. Standard cheesy tex mex for reasonable prices. I heard they have a great bacon cheeseburger oddly enough, too. I will return. Way bettter than Cilantro’s next door.

So. I don’t think this place is Fernando’s anymore… As the sign and menu say Cilantro’s. However. I have been here numerous times and am VERY pleased. One, I am a picky eater… And the waitresses I’ve had have been very knowledgeable about their menu. The carne asada is always good, and really have no complaints on the food. Portions are huge! Wait staff is a mixed bag, as it is really anywhere else. I see no reason to stop coming here :)

Waitress was not very attentive to our party of 8. It was especially gross that we were sitting with empty drink glasses and she finally comes back smelling of smoke. Classy

I ordered a chicken enchilada with the tamale and a beef taco, rice and beans, chips and salsa. The enchilada tamale rice beans taco all great They did not give me salsa, they gave me pico de gallo. I like pico de gallo but it’s distinctly different from salsa. Lastly, the chips that accompanied the«salsa» were horrific. Some kind of flour chip that turns into a nasty mealie mush as soon as it hits your tongue. Yu

The meal was delicious, with HUGE portions. I ordered the shrimp fajitas, which were so yummy; I wish I could have finished them! However the waitress was in attentive and could be seen sitting at the bar texting, rather than checking if we needed anything, and forgot my drink order. Had it not been for this, Fernando’s would have gotten my full 5 stars.

My wife’s family loves this place and I have gone a dozen times, mostly at this location, but occasionally the Pacific Street location. I think this place is a bit inconstant, I have had good meals here and I have had meals were I have told my wife I would never go back. Now I’m stuck in Amsterdam where there are few Mexican options, so I’m not sure if that is impacting my review, but I went last week and it was really good. I would probably give it 5 stars if it were my first time there, the food was great, the service was pleasant, I want to forget the other times, but because I can not, I must reduce by one star. Will be back next summer and I’m sure we will go again… hopefully it will be another good experience.

The best gringo-fied Mexican food in Omaha. Great service and the food is pretty good. I’ve tried their tacos and chimichanga but my favorites are pico de gallo with flour chips and, chicken and cheese enchiladas. I also like their desserts: sopapillas, churros, helados and Mexican mudball. Pico de Gallo: Fresh tomatoes, onions, peppers and cilantro. Get flour chips — they’re light and puffy when fried and oh so delicious! 5⁄5 Tacos(rice on the side) and Chimichangas(rice on the inside): Either chicken or beef in fried flour tortilla with cheddar and jack cheese and Mexican rice, lettuce and tomatoes. Served with beans, rice, sour cream and guacamole. I get mine sans beans. 4⁄5 Chicken and Cheese Enchiladas: The only place I’d get enchiladas from is Fernando’s. The white meat chicken that’s juicy and tender. The tortilla isn’t dry and they put generous amounts of sauce and cheese. 5⁄5 Sopapillas: Fried dough with cinnamon sugar and honey. 3⁄5 Churros: Churros with cinnamon sugar. 3.5÷5 Helados: Translation: ice cream. A ball of ice cream covered in chocolate then rolled in graham cracker crumbs served in a bowl made of fried dough with cinnamon sugar. 4⁄5 Mexican Mudball: Ice cream rolled in Oreo cookie crumbs with strawberries on top, served in a bowl made of fried dough with cinnamon sugar. 4⁄5

I’ve eaten here a million times. Those flour chips are delicious and so is the pico. Simple, greasy, fried good hangover food. I love the chicken enchiladas smothered. Definitely not authentic Mexican food in any way, but hits the spot.

If you have read my reviews, you know that I try and remain positive. I struggle with this review. I struggle because my 2 start rating(I’ve experienced better) applies not just to their competitors but THEIROWN standards of service. When they first opened I remember the lines out the door, the lobby full. I have not experienced that for sometime. Sure there are more restaurants to choose from in Omaha AND if you take care of guests the first time, they WILL keep coming back. We entered tonight and waited several minutes before anyone made eye contact with us, there was no host. She was delivering food for servers. We eventually got sat. Table for four, we were waiting for the other two to show up. We waited and waited for someone to stop by. I was just about ready to go get water from the bar when the server said I will be right with you. Instead of asking us for our drink order, she was refiling drinks for other tables. She was in the weeds(a term used to say that a server has more business than they have experience or training for.) We asked for chips and salsa, which arrived promptly, some of the best! They offer both flour and corn chips. Our food came before our table was prebused. The food was pretty warm, not hot. Normally the shells are a bit thicker, so when I picked my taco up it fell apart, so I ate it with a fork. Not how I normally eat a taco. Our server was an order taker for sure. No manager checking tables. I was disappointed in the overall experienced based on what I know Fernando’s USED to be. The service isn’t much better at the Pacific location, which leads me to believe that it IS about the lack of leadership driving the culture. It is sad, because it used to be my favorite.
