I’ve visited Burrito Envy a few times in the last few months. Their focus is burrito/tacos/burrito bowls and quesadillas. They also offer a variety of tequilas, tequila based drinks, beer and wine. Their signature burrito is just okay. I got a carnitas one that didn’t have very much meat, mainly rice. The cucumber pico isn’t much to write home about but you can tell they make it fresh. I loved their veracruzana drink. Great flavors, quality tequila and fun presentation. Was not as impressed with their margaritas. I got a strawberry one that was quite syrupy tasting. Reminded me of Don & Millie’s margs only not as strong and $ 5 more. I did like their Mediterranean burrito bowl. Interesting mix of flavors. Their quesadilla’s are also good though it’s hard to mess up cheese and tortillas. I didn’t care for the chips they use but the queso was nice. Good sized portion and not spicy for those who don’t like any kick.

Very nice place to eat! This is a high-end Mexican food with an independent flare. For the Benson area, this is much needed. Burritos and tacos are provided to order and a fast and friendly pace. Unique hot sauces are available as well. Beer and soda are offered as well as a mix of tequilas. Staff is friendly. I visited this during a cold spell so not many people were in but still a nice place to be.

Went in to get my wife some nachos to go and got myself tacos. I believe, on the menu, they were the same price, but my tacos had barely anything on them… as in they were super tiny. My wife’s nachos, however, were more food than an army could have ate at the same price. Well, they would have been the same, if not for one thing. She wanted sour cream and guac added. Each of which was a whopping $ 2! So suddenly, $ 8 nachos became $ 12. A bit much. Maybe $ 2 for guac, but sour cream? You can get a big tub of it at the store for half that price. Don’t try and tell me its artisan sour cream or something. Anyway, like I said… it was a ton of nachos, so that meant she had some left over for the next day. Ya know how some food is better the next day, and some is way worse? This was firmly in the«worse» category. They were pretty new when I went in, so maybe things have improved a bit. I’m willing to give it a second shot when I’m in that area, hungry and can’t find anything else. I’ll even edit and update this if that ever occurs, but for now, I’ll be looking for something else.

The Burrito’s are flavorful and unique, the cucumber pico is amazing, the cilantro lime vinaigrette the coats the pico is so good. The chicken taco’s really hit the spot, and love the Envy sauce that goes on most everything. People need to keep in mind that they just opened, and with Every new restaurant, there are growing pains. Give Burrito Envy a try, I believe you’ll not be disappointed.

Excellent shredded beef burrito. No need to toppings or sauce. Just above avrtagevwuality beef, excellent portions and a small cost décor. Parking is an issue but the food is excellent. Another drawback is lack of a full service bar but food trumps alcohol.

We went Friday evening, before the bar crowd. $ 33 for the two of us for chips and salsa, three street type tacos, a Jamaican chicken salad, and a bottle of reisling. All were good. The salad had great flavor and textures. The queso was outstanding. You adjust your level of spice in this. Little remodeling was done since Baxters, but the space feels different than before… more like a place to settle in for a drink… or two. I think things have improved from the reviews posted right after it opened.

A new fixture for Benson! The food here is local and fresh — they had just gotten in everything for the day an hour before we came. It’s fresh and tastes that way. So impressed. Plus, it’s spicy and flavorful. They are so unique and full of life. Very happy!

Living in Benson, it’s pretty easy for me to want to support the local restaurant/bar scene. Benson businesses put a lot of focus on creativity and take pride in their work, and I appreciate that. But you also have to have a solid product. I fully agree with other reviewers who say the food is overpriced and that generally the chains have better burritos. I’m sorry to say this place misses the mark on a couple of serious points, even in terms of concept: –Burritos are $ 8. –They are kind of small. –They don’t taste consistently delicious. –Most of the burritos are experimental nonsense, instead of traditional standards. –Cheese is $ 2 extra. Have you ever HAD a non-vegan burrito without cheese?! So if I want what I would normally want on a burrito. baseline $ 10. Burritos are supposed to be hearty, decadent, filling, and full of cheesy goodness. And even though they’re evil chains, Chipotle and Q’Doba just hit the mark better. You know what to expect, and you get to enjoy it for what it is. A pretty good burrito at a reasonable price. Oh yeah. And no. I’m not going to sit in that tiny front-room area on a date, hang out, swirl my(giant?) wine glass(which, for some reason, is an option at a burrito place?) around and enjoy the ambiance of a parade of drunk partiers rolling in and out. It’s not going to happen. This location was not made for fine dining. Bottom line: I feel that Burrito envy is trying to strive for something big, but it’s too big for what our neighborhood actually needs, and the thrill is lost in the execution. We do not need artisinal, pretentious, expensive, poorly-executed burritos in Benson. We just need burritos. We need good food that makes us feel good and fills our bellies, that tastes great when we’re drunk, and that isn’t so expensive that you have to have some yuppie startup tech job to afford it.

When I heard there was a burrito place going in Benson, I was really excited about it. I’ve tried it twice and have been extremely disappointed. The first time I got a burrito, and in my opinion it was very over priced, not wrapped well and the ingredients were below average. The second time I went I got tacos to go. It was three tacos for roughly 9 $, and they each were about one bite. Unfortunately I have to say that it doesn’t even come close to a chipotle or a qdoba, which sucks, because if you are going to have a burrito place in benson, it needs to be some of the best burritos in town. I hope they figure this place out, because it is really making me miss Baxters pizza which was there before.

Ok. So as a Benson resident, I am always excited about the prospects of new restaurant coming into the hood but tend to always have my reservations about the quality of food being served. After purchasing two burritos at Burrito Envy, I must say I was not thoroughly impressed. Overall I would say the food isn’t as good as you would find at Chipotle or even Qdoba. The burritos at BE are definitely not even close to being as good as any of the taco trucks that frequent your local auto parts parking lot either(nor as cheap. And yes I know that a brick and mortar has more overhead and taxes, etc). Just by comparing the two burritos I purchased, the Caribbean and the Envy Carnitas, the only difference in taste that I noticed was the cranberries on the Caribbean. Otherwise neither burrito had any sort of flavor that enticed me to bury my face in and ravish it. Neither was so horrible that I couldn’t finish it, but they were just middle of the road burritos that cost $ 8 each. I also think the staff forgot to put the cucumber pico on my carnitas burrito but maybe that was a good thing. By not doing so, I was able to see the burrito for what it was, a tasteless, ingredient pile wrapped in a tortilla. Sadly, just like its predecessor, I doubt the food here will ever become better and the revolving door of restaurants will continue on.

As was reported in the local fish wrap, Burrito Envy & Tequila Bar(obviously) focuses on two things: making various burritos and serving tequila-based drinks. But wait, there’s more! If you don’t fancy a burrito, you can opt for three tacos instead or ordering your meal in bowl or salad form. Plenty of beer and non alcoholic drinks available as well. That all said, this place is tiny! The previous tenant(Baxter’s Pizza) did the hard work of renovating the space, and it very much looks and feels the same inside, save for a mural on the wall here and various surfing-related memorabilia there. I could see this as a nice spot to grab a bite and a drink prior to making the rounds up and down the Benson strip. But it’s not much of a spot to sit back and relax and enjoy a few crafty margaritas without feeling a little rushed or cramped. Since they opened, I’ve been in twice. The first night I ordered a carnitas burrito and on the second night I tried the barbacoa and the veggie(what can I say I love to eat burritos). I ate in during the first visit. The carnitas was plentiful and juicy. Definitely opt for the cucumber pico. The rice was drenched in some kind of salty sauce. It wasn’t served with any kind of sauce or salsa on the side to spice it up. Bummer. My second visit was a to-go order. Both burritos was served with a little sauce on the side(was this their Envy sauce to take my burrito«over-the-top»? I have no idea). The barbacoa was plentiful but a bit of a mess to eat. The veggie burrito is a good vegetarian option and stuffed full of corn, zucchini, peppers, beans and rice. While I’m not blown away in any aspect of my experience — the price, the atmosphere, the execution of my burrito builds — it’s a nice option to have in Benson. And I’m sure they’ll only get better the longer they’re around. Also, you don’t feel terrible after eating here. Sure, for the same price you can get two carne asada burritos with beans and rice at Abelardo’s, but you’ll regret it later. Overall, Burrito Envy a decent meal for under $ 10. And next time I’m totally getting a marg, brah.

A new restaurant on the Benson strip. They took over the space previously used by Baxters. Not much has been changed inside. New mural on the wall. A nice big screen TV. Some new furniture. A wide assortment of Tequilas are available. It’s definitely not upscale, order at the bar. I had Caribbean burrito with mango salsa. I liked the flavour; however I would like little more heat to go with mango salsa. I also had Paloma tequila, which is good for those who don’t like very sweet cocktails. A nice option if you’re in the Benson area.

This place just opened so I thought I’d give it a try. I had the carnitas burrito with the cheese and cucumber pico. It wasn’t spicy but the overall effect was nice. I would’ve also liked a bit of hot salsa for more juice and flavor, but maybe they have that and I just didn’t ask. I also had a blended strawberry margarita which was delicious. It’s in a great location on the Benson strip and I will be back for sure. The Caribbean Salad sounded delicious so I might get that next time.
