Workin through my old«to review list». Closed? Crap. The cheese curds here were god-damned-amazing. The burgers themselves were pretty good, but not like«amazing». The cheese curds though — they made up for it. As for ambiance, staff, price, etc — I guess it doesn’t really matter… they’re closed.

I don’t always go to Omaha, but when I do… I eat at Blanc burgers? Okay, but really though, I live nowhere near Omaha, and have no business being anywhere near this place. In fact, the only reason I came to Omaha was as a pitstop during an epic roadtrip from Los Angeles to Chicago. HOWEVER, if I ever return it will be for 2 reasons: 1) BURGERS: Burgers were amazing and cooked exactly the way I wanted. I ate an American Kobe AND the Bison in one sitting, not to mention truffle fries. Amazing 2) BEERS: Just trust that the selection is great. I can’t give away everything on the first date. Worth checking out as a casual dinner spot.

Burgers & beer. What a perfect combination! The burgers are made of high quality meat and if you ask, they will cook them to med-rare for that super juicy umami mouth feel I associate with a good burger. The burger are a little on the upscale side. They staff will happily accommodate this burger with that topping or that bun modifications. As for the sides, I really enjoy the onion rings, sweet potato fried & cheese curds. I am not a fan of the truffle fries, I find them more oily than anything else. I really wish people would use truffle salt to season fries rather than the oil, fries need salt anyway & the oil just makes them so greasy. **The scene stealer is the gouda fries. A bed of thin cut fries is topped with a spicy gouda cheese sauce, green onions and BACON! The result is decadent and delicious. The beer selection is extensive, with seasonal beers available. They also have a full bar and very tempting adult milkshakes. During the week they have a pretty good pick 2 deal which the servers will also apply to students with Ids at other times. Overall, I like Blanc: the burgers are good and there’s always a new beer to try. Cheers!

Not the same as the KC locations for the burgers/buns. The InsideOut burger here was under cooked and under seasoned. It had no preponderance of char on the outside for that cancer-causing caramelized flavor we all love. lol The buns in Omaha are not KC’s Farm-To-Market Bread Co, and Blanc is just not the same without those wonderful brioche buns. It makes a big difference, believe me. not sure what they can do about that here in Omaha. The truffle fries are a love of mine. The fries are a little wimpy and greasy at Blanc, kind of like oversized hash browns in flavor and texture. Yet I enjoy them. The takeout was prepared and packaged perfectly for a group of 7 people.

Blanc Burgers is a place that seemed like a worth a try place on my last trip to Omaha. I left very disappointed in the food. Make sure you arrive after 5pm if you do not want to pay the meter for parking for dinner. According to the waiter all meat comes from Kansas City. I ordered the bison burger which had a fried egg on top and a mixed order or onion rings and truffle fries. The burger came out looking pretty good, but the bun was way too flaky for a burger. Burger itself was pretty good with a decent flavor profile for a bison burger. With the burger being about average the sides really disappointed. You get 4 onion rings with a mixed order and a ton of fries. The onion rings are massive on batter and low on onion which was sad, and the fries where hit and miss on how they tasted. I would agree with those that say the fries do not taste like truffle, but are just oily. A little over half of my fries were soggy and bad while the others were pretty decent. Blanc Burgers does give you homemade ketchup and aioli which was pretty good, but nothing really special. Overall not what I expected, but it was worth trying at least once(may try again). Better burger places are around Omaha. Average burger with sad sides put it at a 2 star place instead of 3 star or higher location. If the buns were improved and the sides being higher in quality would really help.

I had high expectations of this place only to be left disappointed. It’s not that the food was bad but it wasn’t anything special. They try hard to make it a swanky burger joint but it just doesn’t work. The décor is modern even though the seats that go with the high top tables are small and uncomfortable. The place was clean and somewhat sleek so I’ll give them credit for that. I surprised to see this wasn’t a fast casual place because that’s how it looks from the outside. After about a five minute, we were seated but it took our waiter another 10 minutes to get our drinker order and another 15 minutes to bring them out. He was attentive and accomodating, but slow. The beer menu was extensive but I ultimately settled for Stella Artois and my wife the Pyramid Apricot Ale. At $ 5 each the prices were on par with other places. The menu featured a variety of burgers and sides. I ordered the«classic» with white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, red onions, hand sliced pickles, homemade ketchup, and mustard. It came on a sesame brioche bun. My wife order a bison version of the«classic» minus the cheese. We also ordered a side of hand cut fries and the Lucky Bucket Lager Onion RIngs. My burger was somewhere between average and good. It had a bit of a different texture and it was a bit crunchy but not juicy. The flavor of the burger was overwhelmed by the toppings and I found the mustard a bit odd. The homemade ketchup was a bit sweeter than you expect. I did enjoy the brioche bun. Maybe my tastes are sophisticated enough for this burger but it just didn’t blow me away. I’ll admit that it didn’t seem as greasy or artery clogging as most burger joints but that may be another reason for the lack of flavor. The best part of the meal were the hand-cut fries. The onion rings were also good but a little too thick for my tastes. My wife liked them. Fortunately, we had a groupon for this place because $ 40 for burgers, fries, and a couple of beers is ridiculous! The only way I’d go back to Blanc is if others in my group insisted on it. Otherwise, I’ll stick to the other places that make a better burger.

The truffle fries didn’t taste like truffle whatsoever. They tasted like fries blanched and soaked in oil for days. And the Kobe burger was actually the most plain. It was overcooked– too well done for my tastes, even though they were supposed to cook it medium. I wish they had more flavor to the burger because the meat was underseasoned and underwhelming. The atmosphere was cute, but it was very noisy and full of rich hipsters who could actually afford this place.(I’m sorry $ 12 for a burger this quality IS expensive.) The only reason I’m giving it an extra star is because our waiter was cool. By any other standards, he might not have been the best waiter, but he reminded me of my friend. So there. Extra star for you, Blanc.

Sparknotes Version: Outdated menu, truffle fries that aren’t any special, $ 12 American Kobe burger turned out to be the blandest in the menu, impatient serving staff, better burgers for cheaper elsewhere. Two stars, «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» That statement is fitting for Blanc. My friends and I were looking forward to eating there after we’ve heard great reviews and people who love the burgers. It was for a birthday celebration, so we called ahead for a table of 14, and they were able to seat us about on time at 6:30pm. I was excited, because the place looked modern, and the burgers looked tasty, but it went about downhill from there. First of all, as of 1÷20÷12, their menu both online and in person is not up to date, which was a total bummer, and misleading. I was looking forward to ordering their calamari fries only to find out it had been replaced with buffalo calamari. I was disappointed, but decided to order it anyway, since it was a new take on calamari. Big mistake, since the calamari pieces were on a tiny plate, and for $ 8, they were gone in about 5 minutes. Portions were much too small. My friend was also looking forward to ordering the Marinated Portabella burger, which was also off the menu, replaced with a veggie and black bean patty that simply was not interesting. While waiting for the burgers, we ordered sweet potato fries, truffle fries, and onion rings. The sweet potato fries were tasty, the onion rings were good, battered and fried in a way that tastes like Funions snacks, but the truffle fries were disappointing. Obviously they weren’t going to be topped with real truffles, but the truffle oil they should have been glazed in was tasteless as well. So basically they were just french fries. And they were served in these novel looking carts that had nothing to do with the rest of the décor of the place. Interesting. Now the burgers. My girlfriend ordered the Turkey burger, which was tender and full of flavor, and my friend ordered the Classic, which was juicy, but bland. And for the $ 12 American Kobe, I ordered it medium-rare, and it was definitely pink inside, but dry and tasteless. I expected much more. It was under-sauced and topped in sauteed onions and greens that did not contribute to the flavor. Should the patty alone have been amazing, then the rest of the toppings would not have mattered, but the burger was so dry and bland that I was about to send it back. I was tempted to just eat the rest of my girlfriend’s Turkey burger because even that had more flavor. And the service got worse over time. I understand that we were a decent-sized party, but that is no excuse for the waiters and waitresses to get testier every minute. My friend caught our waitress rolling her eyes, waiting for the moment that we would finally leave so she could turn over our table. Very unprofessional. On the upside, the birch beer and malt shakes were good. Overall, I believe you can get much more value and even more flavor at places like Five Guys and Smash Burger, and even Cheesecake Factory, being the chain it is, has a better and more flavorful Kobe Burger than Blanc. I’d probably skip this place in the future for failing to make a burger truly gourmet and enjoyable. And please, please update your menu. Two Stars.

I live in Los Angeles, and only make it to my hometown of Omaha once or twice a year, but it’s really great to see how much the city is expanding and to discover fun new restaurants that will establish new traditions for my family. I would definitely return to Blanc Burger. My sister, mom and I hit up Blanc at about 3:30 on a weekday, at my sister’s recommendation. I could’ve eaten the truffle fries all day long, but then came my bison burger, which was soft and flavorful and awesome. At the time of our visit, we were the only customers in the place, which I’m hoping was because of our very late lunch and not because Omahans aren’t taking advantage of this excellent food. The menu is really unique, filled with reimaginings of what you’d usually expect of a burger, and the wait staff was extremely personable and engaged(maybe even to a fault — but at least it’s clear his enthusiasm for Blanc and for good service is genuine) and if I lived in Omaha, I’d probably become a regular. I love a good burger, and this place has plenty to choose from. Plus, truffle fries!

Visiting Omaha for the first time in a long while, I was really surprised by Midtown Crossing *in general* — but Blanc was definitely a great destination in this new area. I ended up ordering the Turkey Burger. I really liked that they had a variety of burgers that catered to people watching their calories, vegetarians, or people wanting something different than a standard burger. The Turkey Burger ended up coming to a pretty reasonable calorie total, and had a great taste — so much so that I finished it in 3 minutes!(I was a little hungry.) My party also ordered the cheese curds and sweet potato fries, so I got to try both of those. Both were tasty, but I enjoyed the cheese curds slightly more — biting into them produced a burst of cheesy, greasy goodness that just can’t be beat. I loved that the sweet potato fries were brought out in a mini shopping cart. So cute! They are perfect with the spicy aioli that they bring. I recommend that over the ketchup — for me, the ketchup was a bit too sweet. The chill environment and good food make this a great place to grab a bite with friends. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area!

We came here on a Thursday night with another couple to use a groupon. Now, I’ve been here a few times before, but have never reviewed. I felt like our experience was good enough that I should share for anyone who has not been. I try to sample a new burger every time I come here. Thursday night I had the Kobe beef burger, cooked medium. Wow, probably one of the best burgers I’ve had in my life! The truffle fries were a decadent side, and the special micro brew made this meal memorable. My only complaint was my waitress was so nervous she dropped a glass, and was almost TOO apologetic. Sweet gal, just felt she was really trying to make our experience good, and was a little overbearing. Although, it sometimes is better to have an attentive server than one you never see. Love the food, beer and atmosphere of Blanc, and I hope more people give it a try!

Pro: excellent burgers with a wide variety of toppings, and an extensive list of great beers(both of which you would expect from the restaurant’s title). Even though I came in with my girlfriend at an unusually busy time due to a Groupon deal I was unaware of, the service still held up. Con: atmosphere isn’t bad, but isn’t great; lots of white surfaces and overly bright lights. And while I realize that Blanc is serving premium burgers(big ones at that) and high-end beers, the prices still seem a bit high to me. Two burgers, two bottles of beer and a side order of onion rings to share ran me around $ 40. Summary: Blanc is highly recommended if you simply want the best burgers and/or beers you can get and you don’t mind paying the requisite. If you’re not so picky about your meat sandwiches and fermented potables, however, it may be best to look elsewhere.

Ambiance — 2 stars Food — 3.5 stars Beer — 5 stars Service — 4.5 stars Blanc Burgers is relatively new to Midtown. Let me just start off by saying i’m a big fan of trying new beers… and Blanc is the perfect place for that. There are about 5 pages worth of bottled beers from around the country and world featured here. I happened to get the Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout bc I love dark beers. I’m not gonna lie, it was awesome. Highly recommended for anyone looking to try Blanc. The food on the other hand was a bit… underwhelming. I’ve had truffle fries before and those were pretty standard. I really like truffle fries by themselves but I think with a burger, I’d just opt for the normal. Plus they were hella oily. I think I’d still want to come back to try the bison burger though because I have heard good things about that. Aside from the food and drinks, the service was prompt, helpful, and courteous. Lastly the ambiance. It was weird and I didn’t like it at all. They sat us below the upper bar area, right where it divides with the bottom seating area. I just felt like it was poorly planned and closed off like somewhere they’d stick you to forget about you. Perhaps opening up that area with glass that you can see through would be better.

Appearance first hand is very posh and comforting, but when I say first hand that is exactly what I mean. Similar to meeting someone you think is drop dead gorgeous until they open their mouth, this quasi-upscale diner was not all it is cracked up to be. The table that we were seated at was bent, and wobbled probably due to the cheap quality of aluminum it was composed of. I assure you any five star place will have tables that are sound and do not move when you set your glass back down on the table-top. The sole reason this place was so appealing to me was due to the miniature shopping cart of french fries they advertise. This is also the one thing that made my trip most delightful considering everything else was not what I had expected… but I mean really though, how can one mess up a side of pre-processed potatoes in a fryer?! The fries were delicious!!! Moving on, the staff however were less than appealing. Although fit for the job of emo-style in an all naturalistic type place, the service was godawful. I believe we overestimated our server by assuming they had the social skills of a fourth grader.(I will be sure to lower my expectations next time.) We placed an order for 1 Spiced lentil burger as they are HUGE(veggie style), Cheese Curds, and a mix between two types of fries… hand cut, and truffle in the delightful little shopping basket of course! What we actually received was double, and minus one type of fry. The burger however was tasty, as it had radish sprouts and some sort of sauce on it.(Slight tip, add onion and it is ten times better.) Again, the size is enough to fill 4 females. The ketchup is a homemade version that they use, which is super sweet hinting to more of a barbecue sauce taste. The one thing I was highly disappointed in, as I love these crunchy little guys was the pickle. Seriously. Who likes sweet pickles?! As any pickle lover excited to savor the first crunchy bite knows, it is absolutely devastating to your taste buds when they experience the polar opposite of the zesty dill you are expecting. All in all, I am a huge service person. Unless you work in some sort of place as waitstaff, you can never appreciate this. Service makes or breaks the taste of food. Not sure why exactly, but it does. Aside from service(or lack thereof) however, the food is not too bad if you can handle sweet.

Sitting at what is considered the end/edge of Midtown Crossing, Blanc still does a very reasonable job of pulling a crowd in. I notice a lot of the people eating there during the daytime seem to be people who work in the area(Mutual of Omaha, etc.) probably due to the $ 9 lunch special. I would consider this place as «gourmet» because a lot of the ingredients are higher end like truffle oils and truffles, and they have a nice import beer selection. The produce and meat are all local, which I absolutely standby as crucial for supporting local farmers and getting fresh items for your customers. I ate the portabello mushroom sandwich, which was pretty good, one of the best I’ve had when considering texture and flavor. While the fries«a la carte»(real cute, blanc) were the usual, the sauces to dip in were savory, and kept me coming for more. I ranked it three stars because although it was an enjoyable experience, it just cost too much for lunch(~$ 60 for 3 people with tax), and I would like spending my money elsewhere bc I am just not really a burger gal. I think Blanc is a terrific experience and should be tried at least once. Im sure I’ll be back anyways at the hands of my Bf.(o_O)

Finally made it to BB&B to see what all of the raving was about. Ordered the classic burger with fries AND onion rings. The lowdown: The onion rings are fresh, crunchy and delightful. The fries were soggy and disappointing, even when dipped in their delicious homemade ketchup. The burger was good, but the bun could’ve used a good toasting to avoid some of the mushiness. Service would’ve been worse had someone not stepped in to assist the waittress(we rarely saw her). The couple who were seated next to us left after waiting 10 minutes with no service. For a new place, the décor looks a bit beat up already, so probably not the best choice in furnishings. Lunch for two: two burgers, regular fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings and two sodas — $ 30 before tip and tax. They’re not on my list of go-to’s for burgers, but I’d be willing to give them another try.

Local ingredients and vendors make me happy to begin with. But the fact that my beer came from Germany was a nice touch too and complemented the meal as I managed to scarf [yet savor] the blue cheese inside out burger, the recommendation of our server. I could see why some people might be surprised by the a la carte sides but I appreciated the joke so much that I’m actually a fan. And even if you split a cart you wont go hungry here… The burgers are ginormous. It was the small touches made me love Blanc as well. All of the sauces and even the pickles are made in house, and while you’d think that the white/orange décor would be somewhat visually challenging, it was actually the perfect backdrop, as was the volume and layout of the space itself. Blanc is ultimately ‘gourmet’ food, so taking that into account it’s everything I expected, even the $ 35 lunch for two(included 2 burgers, 1 side and 1 beer). I will be returning… though hopefully for the M-F $ 9 lunch special.

I was excited to try another MidTown Crossing restaurant. I came a large group of women. First off, our waiter was great. Joe-elle(male). He was very attentive but not overly, gave good recommendations and was just overall, a great server. I really appreciate that and it definately adds to my dining pleasure. We split two appetizers, the fried cheese curds and the calamari fries. I love calamari – and this was great. What was better than even the fries(it was a calamari steak cut into fries) was the dipping sauce which was a lemon lime aioli which was amazing. The fried cheese curds were a bit overdone for my taste and I didn’t care for the sauce, which was tomatillo chutney. I think if they had been all gooey inside I would have liked them more. They have a wide variety of burgers. Our waiter recommended the inside out burger which is a bacon cheeseburger stuffed with blue cheese. It was good. Cooked very medium rare which is perfect with me. I noticed some people at another table sending theirs back to ruin them by cooking them well done. Dennis’ review that included the pus visual is right on track, and completely nauseating me at this time. I would probably try a different burger next time. At our table, we got all the sides: hand cut fries, truffle fries, sweet potato fries and lucky bucket lager onion rings. I agree that the onion rings are overcooked. The fries were good but the truffle fries, WOW – amazing. Be sure to get those. Best thing we had. I’ll be back!!!

WARNING: This restaurant review may contain references to pus… So it looks like Blanc Burgers and Bottles is the new guy in town and although I’m sad I couldn’t be the first reviewer, I’m happy to share my thoughts with fellow foodies looking for a great place to eat at Midtown Crossings! First of all, the staff was SUPER friendly, which might change as the newness of the establishment fades away. It was a Thursday evening and a friend of mine had a hard day at work. I happen to know from experience that a belly filled with grease and barely cooked ground beef will fix ANY stressful day at work! This is exactly what Blanc provided for us! I will have to tell you that I LOVE burger places more than I love my two big toes. I can tell you a list of burger places I love in the area, but let’s focus on my new friend Blanc. One thing I really enjoy is that they have set burgers so that I don’t have to make my own burger. While I do fantasize daily about going to Stella’s and thinking of the crazy combination of burgerlicious add-ons I want to pile on, occasionally the submissive side of me wants to allow someone to blindfold me, handcuff my arms to the bed posts, tickle my feet with a feather and make me a GD burger! That someone is Blanc. Blanc has a little kinky side with their types of burgers… While you can get a normal style burger, you can whip your naughty tongue with some creative burger options at Blanc. I opted for the blue cheese stuffed burger with apple smoked bacon and the other fixings that don’t really matter since bacon is all that matters. As a side, we got sweet potato fries and onion rings. Here’s where you squeamish people might want to skip the rest of the review… My burger comes out and is almost as big as my face. Before I could get my lusty paws on it, I was immediately warned of the dangers of the blue cheese stuffed burgers. Apparently, biting into the burger prematurely would cause a gush of white liquid to ooze all over my face. Not being a fan of this, I heeded their warning despite my hunger and took their advise to poke the burger first and let the molten white lava cool down a little. I take my fork and slowly started poking the side of my burger. It was no joke like popping a zit that is two days overdue! As I’m sitting there in complete awe at the cheesy white pus draining from my burger, I could not stop giggling like a little Asian girl with Hello Kitty barrettes in her hair… My friend was wondering what was going on and I had to share with her all the fun I was having bursting my burger’s plump pus pimple. Once that whole ordeal was done and there was nothing holding me back, that burger didn’t stand a CHANCE!!! The sweet potato fries were a good addition to my burger but if I had one complaint… it would be the onion rings. I love onions… raw, cooked, boiled, steamed… any way you can prepare them, they need to be in my belly. At Blanc, the onion rings were over cooked so that the actual onion itself shriveled exponentially almost to the point of nothing(sounds like a Calculus problem). Unfortunately the only thing remaining was a fried greasy batter shell. If I wanted to eat fried batter I would go to Long John Silver’s and pick out everything from the bottom of a fish platter. Anyway, my reviews are so long that Unilocal needs to flag me for inappropriate length. Bottom line — if you like burgers, you don’t mind having set burger choices, and don’t need onion rings. Check this place out! Ps — there is an awesome prix fixe menu for lunch if you can spare a lunch break for burger binging.

I have been waiting for this place to open forever! We went tonight — opening night. Usually I wouldn’t judge a place by opening night but everything went great. Started with the lucky bucket battered cheese curds — these were good but not outstanding. I think ranch would have been better than their special sauce concoction. We both ordered the bison burger. These were delicious. Split an order of the truffle fries — pretty good just a little«mushy». I loved their ketchup but I am not a big fan of the chipotle aioli. Ended the meal with a vanilla malt — one of the best malts ever! Keep in mind this is a «gourmet» type burger restaurant. I am still a big Stella’s fan and that is what I will always think of when burgers come to mind but this place definitely fills a niche in the burger market and I hope everyone welcomes them to Omaha. We will be back.
