PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn

My friend had his wedding here back in 2012, which turned out to be a nice weekend getaway since we had the option of snowboarding a couple days before and after the actual wedding. The hotel itself is dated and I don’t remember it being all that nice. I actually remember the phone in my room not working and I had to get the hotel to come and fix it. However, this hotel is extremely convenient if you want to ski/​snowboard at Squaw because it shares the same parking lot as the resort. My friends wedding was very beautiful and memorable because it was outdoors with the beautiful snowy mountains in the background, and the area where the ceremony was held was decorated really nice by the hotel. I wouldn’t mind coming back here for another wedding, but I probably wouldn’t stay here if I had a choice.

Old, tired, loud definitely needs remodeling. Would not recommend if you want to sleep…

Decent hotel. Lobby is beautiful and the bar is cozy. Rooms need a dramatic update. We travelled during the summer, so the lack of proper air conditioning was an issue. The pool and hot tubs are great and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I feel that the summer amenities could be improved to attract more visitors and make the stay more pleasant during that time. Bikes are available but it might be worth the investment to offer summer activities led or directed by a staff member. During ski season I imagine that void fills :) I feel strange only giving the place three stars because we had a pleasant visit. It’s just not a spectacular room and the amenities are lacking during summer months. The location is ideal! I would go back during the winter in a heartbeat.

We (myself + hubby + baby) recently stayed here for a wedding in the Village, and I am so glad we choose this hotel from the many offerings in the area!
A true boutique hotel (not like others who only count the # of rooms, and call it a day). Staff is incredibly helpful in so many ways, making you feel welcome and comfortable from the moment you drive up. I also appreciated that they were very transparent in explaining all of the offerings and services they have (valet = free, rentals = discounted, breakfast = free, resort fee = reasonably and necessary). Kevin was on staff for the majority of our stay, and I want to send out a huge thanks to him for making the long weekend one to remember.
We checked in late afternoon and were offered a glass of wine while we got everything set up. Not only did I respond with a «you bet!», but it was actually a very good Napa Cab — thank you for that.
Unfortunately, time did not allow for a ski trip this round, but what a great place to stay if you did. They hold all your gear up front for you (über convenient), and you are literally steps from the base of the mountain.
Timing did allow for us to have an early dinner/​late HH in the bar area, and I was fully impressed. Our waitress was helpful, friendly and on point with recommendations and compliments to our [very active] 10-​month old. Bartender made one of the best hot toddys that I have ever had, and I am still dreaming of their burger.
Breakfast was stellar as well: their housemade granola is not quite the healthiest of options, but man, so good! Farm fresh eggs were fluffy and always fresh and hot; great breads for toasting, fresh yogurt, strong coffee, Mighty Leaf tea, and either bacon or breakfast sausage. I have a huge appetite, and this was perfect.
Room was modern and clean with everything you could want (including spa sandals to plop around after your shower) and nothing that you didn’t. We had a room on the first floor, and it felt like having our own cottage :-)
I will make 1 comment that the housekeeping staff — friendly and efficient — were a bit rowdy down the hallway ~ 9:30−11am each day. I only notice this so much as this is our child’s prime nap time, so we had to use the white noise app to ensure that everyone got the benefit of that nap!
If (when?!) we return, I hope to stay at Plumpjack hands down.

PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn was the absolute best wedding venue. I don’t even know where to start. To begin with, Marion Rogers was a delight to work with. She is patient, informative and highly organized– all things you’re looking for when you’re the bride to be. She made my wedding day effortless, stress-​free and ensured every single detail was executed properly. She was calm, sweet and very efficient. Love Marion. Next, the chefs at Plumpjack are just incredible. Our food was over the top outstanding. Months after our wedding we still had guests complimenting the cuisine on our big day. Lasting, the hotel accommodations were fabulous for guests– from the rooms, to the hotel bar to the high-​quality bikes available at the front desk– this hotel made our wedding weekend quite memorable for all guests. In addition to all of the above, you can’t beat the mountainous view. Extra bonus– there are late night bars and eats in the village (walking distance) for those guests who want to keep the party going even after the wedding. I adore Plumpjack and would highly recommend for all brides and guests just looking for a fabulous weekend away!

PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn was the perfect wedding venue! We were able to do all of our wedding day events in the various areas within PlumpJack so that our guests didn’t have to transport between locations to enjoy our wedding (and we didn’t have to worry about logistics and transportation!).
Lodging
The hotel is beautiful. The complimentary breakfast is out of this world. The pool area is comfortable and relaxing. They are dog friendly, and it was so fun to bring our black lab to our wedding weekend.
Ceremony
It’s the perfect setting under the peaks of KT-​22 and High Camp. The stone-​floored creek side area makes for a beautiful aisle to walk down. Where the sun sets in the afternoon makes for the perfect lighting and comfortable summer temperature for all the guests.
Cocktail Hour and Dinner
Everyone had a blast. The booze was flowing. PlumpJack had enough people on staff so that no one had to wait in line for too long to get a drink. The food was absolutely delicious — we did passed appetizers, seasonal salad, main course, and cupcakes. The chef is very friendly and extremely talented.

MOST IMPORTANTLY… The PlumpJack team (Ilana, Marion, and Rob) were such a pleasure to work with.
They were professional, responsive, creative, supportive — qualities that were so helpful and invaluable in a wedding venue management team. They worked closely with us throughout the many-​months-​long planning process to make sure that they were providing everything we needed and that they understood exactly how our wedding day was supposed to go. On the day of, they executed everything as planned. My husband and I didn’t have to worry about a thing, and we were able to just enjoy ourselves.
If you are looking to have a wedding in Tahoe, consider PlumpJack. At the very least, meet the team and see the venue in person.

I recently got married at PlumpJack and it was the best decision I made for my entire wedding (other than the groom, of course)! From the day we decided to hold our wedding at PlumpJack the service was phenomenal! They were very attentive to detail and helped make the wedding planning process easy. The food and drinks were great and they even went out of their way to be able to allow my beer loving husband to bring in some of his own cellared collection. Our guests loved the venue and said that it was the most beautiful place for a wedding and hands down the best wedding they had ever been to. I can’t say enough good things about PlumpJack and their exceptional staff! If you are looking for an intimate mountain wedding, this is the perfect venue! We will be back again for years to come! I would definitely recommend this hotel to others for a weekend stay or for a wedding!

My boyfriend and I stayed here on a Saturday night after flying our plane up to Tahoe. Coming away from this experience, we both agreed that this was the most positive hotel experience that we have had in 10 years, or maybe ever. The staff greeted us with complimentary glasses of champagne, and allowed us to check in almost three hours early. We sat by the pool and waited for our room, and our dogs were allowed to hang out anywhere they wanted. The place is dog friendly :) Bathrobes, complimentary bottle of wine and nuts in the room, and nice bathroom. Staff so friendly and helpful any time we walked by front desk. Beach cruisers free of use. The complimentary breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have ever had, the homemade granola was out of this world. A whole spread of over 20 other things to choose from too. I would highly recommend this boutique hotel!

The mountain of squaw and the fingers of the slopes lurked closer as we approached. The looming wedding hung on our necks like the collective albatross that all weddings are to those who aren’t the ones getting married. Then we met Travis… Travis. Travis. Travis. Don’t look in the mirror and say his name three times or you might end up getting the best front desk service of your sad fruitless life.
After the ceremony, it’s midnight and there’s not a soul in sight. If you need anything call my guy Travis. Better yet, don’t call him, go see him. A man like Travis deserves to be seen. Even if you are the grooms brother and you wrote a less than mediocre speech that had every generic one liner from every generic wedding movie and you’re too drunk to realize your room key actually does work. You still go see Travis.
No one is above this mans style, gravitas and charm. Travis does what you have always thought impossible. When you were a kid and tried to jump that bike ramp but chickened out, Travis jumped that bike ramp. Travis’ dad asks him if he can borrow the car. When all the wedding party has gone to bed and you’re drunk but your hotel is 20 mins from the resort, Travis will make numerous calls till he finds you the best cab available. When you go back inside and ask if there’s any late night food options Travis will call every casino asking if they’re still serving food. And when that answer is no? Travis will go into the mysterious back room and forage for locally grown gluten-​free organic fruits and vegetables producing a feast fit for the early morning hours between dinner and breakfast that satisfies not only your physical hunger but your spiritual hunger too.
Without a warrior such as he, who dares the night to do its worst, plumpjack would be just another over priced motel posing as a resort. But nay, for the sake of mankind he stands alone. Defending all tourists young and old, rich and poor, from the snares and traps a vacation lays before them. He is Travis! the graveyard front desk person. And he’ll be there till 6am.

I stayed 3 nights here while attending my best friends wedding on-​site. Beautiful location. They have high-​quality bikes available at the front for rides anytime (I went on morning bike rides during my stay — and the site is gorgeous). The staff was the most accommodating staff I’ve ever met. Seriously, maybe it was the high altitude, but every receptionist was smiling, and happy to be there.
Be sure to buy their homemade granola. I bought extra for family gifts — only $ 12/​bag — and best granola ever.

Fantastic boutique hotel with friendly and welcoming staff from the minute you step foot inside. Included morning breakfast is awesome for skiing fuel and the 30 steps to get on the lift. Jake the bartender is a great mixologist and personable to chat with at the bar.
Cons: no elevator which was no big deal and the Monday night bartender who’s clearly only there to collect a paycheck.

What a beautiful place! Some friends of ours recently had their wedding here so we stayed two nights and had a great time. From the moment we walked in we got great service. Such a friendly staff and the rooms were gorgeous. The free breakfast each morning was a nice touch and very good. The hotel is also dog friendly, they offered a one time fee of $ 150 which is good if you are staying for a week, not so good in our case since we only stayed two nights so we left our little one with my aunt. Next time i think I’ll bite the bullet and bring her. =)
Location is nice, its walking distance to some good places to eat, drink, shop and ski. The wedding was really nice and the food was amazing. If I had to have one complaint it would be cost. It’s a little pricey but you get what you pay for here. It was an expensive trip but we had a blast and I will be back.

Great place to stay. Unbeatable location next to the slopes and village. Excellent staff. Flexible for pets. Delicious breakfast included in the morning and bar at night.

Perfect 5 star rating. Nice sized rooms that are clean and modern, specifically the bathrooms are nice with their soaps and things.
The bar and restaurant are top notch. Great staff and excellent service. Reasonably priced as far as I am concerned.
Hang out by the pool or in the hot tub and order drinks if you like.
Decent gym with no one in there.
I have no complaints what so ever about this place.
Didn’t notice the thin walls and noise, and we had kids in the room when there was a wedding.

Plumpjack is my go to spot to hang out, watch tv, chat with friends and eat great food. With out a doubt plumpys has the best atmosphere out of any restaurant in the valley, Truckee, and is up there with some of S. F’s best bars and restaurants. The food is awesome and so are the employees. Love this place. If your in town and not sure where to go or what to do be sure to stop in at Plumpjacks. The best part about this place is that it gets better in the winter.

Attended a wedding here in April 2012 (forgot to finish my post hee hee) as both guest and day-​of coordinator and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is quaint, clean, spacious and incredibly romantic with beautiful views of snow capped mountains.

First time snowboarding the lady decided we should take it seriously and book the nicest hotel possible at the ski resort .
We were greeted warmly by the staff, they asked us number of times if they can help with the language and our gear, check in was a breeze, at some point during the stay the water wasn’t hot enough, not to worry they fixed it right away,
The Resturant (we spent over 4 nights in the inn and ate at the Resturant breakfast lunch and dinner) was great, amazing selection of wine and really warm servers, all around its close as possible to the slopes and very convenient .
So why the 2 stars ?
Rooms guys. At top $ you would expect a bit more then a basic room with paper thin walls, but we coulda live with that as well, what I couldn’t live with was the fact that our room #203 was literally over the garbage and recycle bin, so every morning at 7:30 instead of waking up with chirp of birds and quite that is oh so typical to a resort, we woke up with the sound of «bip bip bip bip «and then the bottles going into the trash, or the truck pick up noise.
Monday was the best mainly cuz they had loads of it .
To summarize .
We will be back to squaw valley and we will most likely stay at p. j inn, staff and overall conditions where great, but I’m sure as hell going to ask them this time to put us in a room that doesn’t have this view and «nature» ambience.

We had our wedding here earlier this month and we could not be happier with our experience. The Plumpjack staff from sales to catering to event staff to kitchen to bar to front desk were all absolutely top notch. Their sense of hospitality seems to be of the sixth sense variety and they all seemed genuinely concerned with making sure our winter wedding went without a hitch. It snowed two feet the night before and day of our wedding– some of the staff came in on their days off to shovel the ceremony site to ensure that we got to get married under the cliff face of Squaw. We were truly treated like VIPs from the first day we had a site visit until the day we checked out.
Our guests all gushed about how great their experience was. Thank you, Plumpack, especially Ilana Heyne, Marion Rogers and Rob McCormick for going way above and beyond our wildest expectations. You have customers for life!

We stayed at plumpjack for a summertime wedding and thought the grounds were beautiful.
The place is tastefully decorated, the grounds were gorgeous for the wedding, and we really appreciated the free bikes you can take for that mid-​afternoon bike ride out to the meadow. Overall, it’s a great location if you can deal with the price.

I’m just happy with the house wine– at $ 10 a glass and hubby’s being adventurous and trying some cocktail with Pisco Sour, a South American brandy alternative. It’s has hints of orange and is quite tasty. I’d also recommend the ceviche cones with fresh avocado and shreds of chili. Three cones for $ 15 and they come served like ice cream cones.
This is a great place to come in from the cold at Squaw Valley, just a short walking distance from the slopes.
