The standard-bearer for Italian sub shops in Washington. Quick. Reliable. The best. Eat there.

This place can make a mean sub. Their bread is really fresh, and so is their meat. They aren’t skimpy on the toppings of your sandwich. The whole sized sandwich is huge so I would suggest getting a half size if you aren’t extremely hungry. Their soup is good too. You’re much better off coming here than going to the Subway across the street. You will honestly get a bigger portion and better quality food.

I’ve always wondered how the Subway across the street could survive. The difference between the quality of sandwiches in the two establishments is night and day. I just don’t see any reason to settle for second best.

Delicious and with a wide enough variety that if you like sandwiches they will have something for you. The fresh baked bread is miles ahead of Subway and their half a sandwich is filling enough on its own let alone with chips and a drink. Definitely a great place to grab lunch.

Okay, so sausage sub very bland and chop salad needed cappicola not pepperoni/salami. Still way better than Subway and worth the extra money.

They say they deliver but only if you spend $ 120 that is not reasonable if you say you deliver you should deliver no matter what not just for special catering orders.

The only thing I’ve had here is the Philly Cheesesteak and it was plain and dry. It didn’t have any sauce on it at all and that’s most of what they cheesesteak is about. My daughter got the pizza sub and it was just pepperoni and cheese. They subs are totally something I could just throw together at home-nothing special. The prices are decent but there are lots of other sub shops I could spend the same amount at and get much better. The staff was super-nice and our food got out really quick though so that’s a plus.

This place has decent subs at a decent price, but I wasn’t blown away. The bread leaves something to desire, and as a vegetarian there is no way to make a good sub here. Plenty of other sub shops in oly have good veggie options, but this one does not. On the upside, this place has a nice flyer board for local businesses and events, which earns it an extra star.

Rude service and they can’t even find your order when you call it in. They send you away then you call them when you get back home and they say yes we have it. Lame!!!

I’m not a huge fan of sandwiches or subs, but a friend pretty much guaranteed a perfect meal from this family owned business. From the looks of the place, it has to be good. The line was long; almost discouraging to try and grab a bite during lunch. Luckily, they take phone orders AND they have a separate line for you to pay! Awesome-sauce. I thought it was weird that they charge you to toast your bread, but heeeeyyyyy, to each their own. I ordered the«build your own» sub and chose 3 meats and asked for extra pickles. They sure do know how to give you extra pickles. In one spot. All gathered in the middle. How… Wonderful. Thanks for that. Whomp, whomp. Overall, it was pretty standard. Bread, meat, cheese, whatever extras you wanted. Nothing jumped out and said AMAZING. But, the prices are decent and the service was fast… So I can’t really complain!

Family owned and loved by everyone with class this is the best sub sandwich shop for fathoms of miles. It’s only in the presence of a Subway sandwich that you realize real food is not supposed to look like that Meconis isn’t a major corporation and they dont toast your sandwich they Cosmo it with radiant lightning from the storms of the dolomites.

Another local business that has grown comfortable and complacent in their standing in the community and let their quality slide knowing people will still come. Most of the time I just drive by since there’s no parking and I’m passing by here on my way home from work. If you can’t provide customers parking, then I can’t really give you my money. On the other hand, when I do go in, the entire operation is highly inefficient. If there are 5+ people in line the 8 workers in the back are still going to continue whatever loud and likely inappropriate for work conversation they are having in the prep area. Today one was talking about how«she was sorry she was mean but she just needed a cigarette». I mean that’s fine and all, but maybe talk about that where the customers can’t clearly hear your conversation? But bad service is pretty much the norm in downtown Oly, so what else is new? The sandwiches. Well… they used to be well worth the money. Then the price went up, the amount of meat was just about halved, and the sandwiches are still made just as carelessly as ever. I really hope if you get it to go you plan to eat the sandwich immediately. By the time you drive anywhere, get back to work, get home, etc., not only will the entire wrapper be soaked in oil, but the bread will have become incredibly soggy from this. Again, careless preparation by unprofessional immature employees. Not even sure if they have a boss. Sure doesn’t look like it. I’ll still drop in from time to time, but to be quite honest after many years of eating Meconi’s I now legitimately believe the better sub comes from Jimmy John’s. Much more meat that tastes disturbingly similar to Meconis, meal is done in seconds, always have two registers working, employees are more friendly, etc. I’d rather support a local business, but I absolutely will not support them if their food is worse than a national chain’s. I’d reflect on that and make some changes, but again, why bother? People will still give Meconi’s money no matter how much their quality declines.

Love Meconi’s! Best sandwiches in town! Prices are hard to beat, everything is fresh, and there are lots of options.

I really don’t understand the hype on this place. I’ve been a few times for the variety. It’s an average sandwich. «Oh, the bread is the best» comments are fun. IMHO the bread is only a transport for the ingredients, which are pretty bland. Subway makes a better sandwich, plus you get more control over what gets put on. It hey only have three parking spaces, so if you want to get a sandwich during noon… well good luck! Gets lots of walk ins from the nearby state government offices. My son loves the place… but he’s only 17 and doesn’t know better.

Just came out of Meconi’s on Capital 20 minutes ago. Quality of food doesn’t match up to the reviews. Well, I guess in a way it does. I was born in the SF Bay Area and live in Seattle now. I’m used to eating world class sandwiches like the Cuban at Paseos. So when I read reviews that say this is the best sandwich they’ve ever eaten, the Cuban is what I’m thinking. I think a lot of these reviewers have never been outside Lacey. The sad thing is, I don’t even think the sandwich I just ate was any better than the Subway across the street. I had the Italian large size. It was humongous! If it weren’t for the fact that I didn’t eat breakfast or lunch I wouldn’t have had the room to eat it all. The bread is big, soft, and pillowy. Very puffy, and in comparison with other big doughy breads(like San Francisco sourdough) there really wasn’t a whole lot of taste. I think if the bread were toasted it would have been a lot better. Nothing about the ingredients stood out. There was lettuce and tomato that were just there. They didn’t sizzle or pop like they do at Roxie’s deli in SF. The meat didn’t delight. I don’t remember what it came with. Was it mortadella, salami, and ham? Whatever it was, it was savory and tasty, but nothing special at all. Hate to say it, but the only reason to visit this place is to support the local guy. Subways breads and sandwiches are right on par with Meconi’s. That is, neither one of them is special. Both are very much meh in terms of world class sandwiches. There is a Wagner’s European bakery across the street. I would rather try one of their sandwiches before I try another Meconi. Their lemon bars are very good.

This place is near and dear to my heart — both locally owned AND some of the best damn sammiches I’ve EVER had. No frills, no gimmicks, just great ingredients paired with fast and friendly service. I get the ½-combo(shaved ham, turkey, and chicken) with peppers, olives and jalapenos — EVERYTIME. You honestly cannot go wrong with this one. The bread is the best bread any sub shop could hope to offer. It’s soft and chewy and so full of flavor you will wonder why you’ve ever eaten any other sub. The shaved meat is flavorful and juicy and piled high, and the veggies are crispy and fresh every time as well. *Drooling* Ok, composing myself here — I haven’t tried anything else here, mostly because the combo is my idea of perfection. The staff is attentive, quick and friendly. The place is ALWAYS packed for lunch(lots of times with lines to the door!), and the Olympia location has terrible parking options — but, like Seattle — I wasn’t surprised by this… just something to be aware of. Prices are more than you’d pay at like, say, Subway — but, I adore supporting local businesses and really the quality cannot compare in the slightest. **If you’re reading this, Meconi’s — PLEASE expand North!!!**

Don’t even bother getting a sub sandwich if it’s not Meconi’s! Meconi’s has become somewhat of a sandwich empire in Olympia with its expanded locations and it’s really no surprise why. Once you have a Meconi’s sandwich, all other sandwiches don’t even compare. What sets Meconi’s apart from other sub shops is their homemade white bread. It’s indescribable how delicious it is and just how much it makes their sandwiches. They also pile the freshly sliced meats on high and top each sandwich variety with thinly sliced white onions, oil and vinegar and Italian oregano. A few favorite varieties are the Italian or the Combo. It’s truly one amazing sandwich experience.

So so sandwiches. I got a half of a BLT and it seemed to taste pretty bland. Not too impressed. Since this was a «To Go» order there is not much more to say other than the order was very speedy.

I heart Meconi’s. I’m really into Tuna and adore their Cosmo Tuna, it’s just their tuna heated up. But, that really does make a difference. Melts the cheese. This is the best sub place out of the ones to choose from being Subway or Jimmy John’s. It’s not a sandwich shop like Wally’s. If tuna’s not your thing their Meatball sub is ridiculously meaty & cheesy goodness. Also, their 3 meat sandwich, which is your choice(I recommend Turkey, Pepperoni, & Capicola). Their chili is good. Their Clam Chowder is even better!
