Olema Farm House Deli & Grocery

Not great service, and I’m not sure if it was because they were packed or thats just how it is. It took forever to get our sandwiches and soup. They made me the wrong sandwich, but it was so busy and I was so hungry by that point I didn’t care and just ate it. It was overwhelmed by mustard. The sandwich as I ordered it should not have come with mustard at all. Also I got clam chowder. it was not clam chowder, it was more like vegetable soup with clams added in. Not worth the money in my opinion.

This hidden/​not so hidden spot is a local favorite (we asked and they pointed us here after our hike). We intended to just grab one beer and just watch the Super Bowl and ended up staying, ordering wings, chili, pork sliders and fish tacos! Phew! What a cool staff. The chef «Chris» came out to our table and connected with us on a personal level. So down to earth. Thank You Sir’! Anyway, back to The halftime show.

Nearest Deli to Bear Valley Visitor Centre to grab snacks and lunch for your hike.
They offer a good selection of sandwiches and wraps which are freshly made on the spot.
Had a roast beef sandwich and a cappuccino. The sandwich tasted nice, size is decent for its price. The cappuccino was not that great but well, needed the caffeine fix.
They have a decent sized parking lot right next to their shop which makes it really convenient. There is a public restroom at the corner of the parking lot if you need to answer nature’s call.
A recommended stopover to grab some snacks/​lunch/​caffeine prior to your hike.

Quick stop for coffee and organic ice cream.
Located at Sir Francis Drake Blvd. and HWY 1, this store and restaurant are perfectly located at the junction.

An employee from the business reached out to inform me that the business is under new ownership, has a new sandwich menu and offers local, organic products. Will stop by soon and edit my negative review.

The staff was charming, competent and accommodating. Our sandwiches were just right. Mine had pastrami, an occasional treat, which was tender without the all too common fatty or chewy bits. The beverage selections were wide-​ranging from popular to eclectic. Numerous local items rounded it all out.

For the food: 3 stars – it’s really fine. Nothing super special and nothing bad. I got the turkey trailhead sandwich. which I personally really enjoyed for a simple sandwich.
Customer service – maybe 1 star. I heard my bf say the register staff was pretty unfriendly. but then again. he’s not working for tips and probably doesn’t feel the need to be perky and friendly all the time. Maybe a simple hello would do though.
Overall: Based on the food– «A-​OK» for three stars sums it up for me.

Got a sandwich at about 5pm after a few hours at the beach and its now 5am and my stomach still hurts. Something’s not right.

We were pretty disappointed in our meal. We stopped along the way to pick up some sandwiches for our hike. We passed a cheese factory and a Subway that I’m willing to bet would have provided us with a better, cheaper, tastier lunch.
Service: Brusque. Expect no smiles, eye contact, or welcomes here.
Atmosphere: Felt like a liquor store, but more offerings for a deli.
Food:
Tri-​tip sandwich «as it comes» on a soft roll. Bf got this and was very disappointed. It looked like there was a thin layer of beef with some cheese and that was it.
Vegetarian sandwich: I got it on Dutch Crunch and was disappointed. No crunch to the Dutch, in fact it was stale. The avocado looked brown, the cheese tasted exactly like the cheese where I work (at a hospital), but otherwise was edible and neatly wrapped.
Cost: $ 24.00 for two small sandwiches, a bag of chips and two sodas. Subway would have tasted better, been cheaper, and welcomed our business.
Overall: Very disappointing. Wish we would have read the reviews before we came here.

This is one of the first liquor stores or delis you see on your way up to the Tomales Bay Oyster farm or even Drake’s. We made the rookie mistake of stopping here to purchase some condiments for oyster shucking.
This place is more Deli than it is liquor store because there is only about three fridges with sodas, beers, and other drinks. Expect everything to be a tad more expensive than what you’d pay at a 7 – 11 or other convenience store.
The deli is no Ike’s Place either. And at $ 9.25 for the Olema Chicken Club, it is nearly the same price for a lot less flavor and food. You can choose to customize your own sandwich and of course you have your own choice of bread. We opted for the Dutch Crunch and it wasn’t nearly as good as you’d get in the city. Nothing too special about the avocado slices or turkey meat either. The bacon was standard.
The sandwich as a whole is not terrible. It definitely works if you’re hungry but all in all its not worth the price.
We were able to pick up salt packets and you can buy beer for your oysters but if you’re looking for other things such as hot sauce or limes/​lemons then you’re out of luck.
My advice is to wait a bit so you can venture deeper into the surrounding area to find that there are at least a handful of other stores you can stop into to get what you need to accompany those delicious oysters.

Other than that your basic deli with drinks, snacks and sandwiches. All I had was the ice cream cone and it was delicious and the perfect size. One baby scoop.

Nice place to stop and get a coffee on a cold beachy day.

Have to say, the girl who was attending the shop today was very sweet. Gave me generous samples of icecream to try. They have strauss organic ice cream. Only 4 flavors though. Got vanilla and choco. Didn’t like the choco. taste too much like cocoa powder.
They had few organic cheeses too.

My $ 7 turkey sandwich was absolutely delicious, fresh and big enough for two small meals, but the kid at the register suggested I get a brownie instead of a cookie because apparently he prefers baked goods that taste like cardboard (read; NOT CHOCOLATEY ENOUGH).
Next time I’m getting a goddam cookie.
It’s a deli though, don’t expect the teenagers working there to give you amazing service.

As someone else has mentioned, this place has the potential to be a gold mine, yet they have yet to realize that potential.
Stopped by here for a couple of drinks and a salty snack after a morning spent on Limantour Beach.
Our two bottled Cokes and two mini bags of Kettle chips came to a whopping $ 6.50, along with a big side of attitude from the dude who at first ignored us at the cash register (money in hand, mind you, obviously ready to pay), then reluctantly rang us up.
Come on folks, you have tasty meats in a case and are in a tourist area. Get it together, please.

Swung in Saturday just for some caffeine and asked the girl at the espresso maker if she could make me a café’ Americano, and she said she didn’t have the stuff to make that. So I asked her to put 2 shots of espresso in a cup and fill it up with hot water, and she was able to do that for me :)
Location is this place’s key to success. I’ll stop there again and again, but I don’t expect much aside from overpriced goods and an outhouse.

Their sandwiches were made with care, and they make a lot of the ingredients in house (such as the roast beef). They’re not that overpriced, considering the location — a large sandwich with everything on it is $ 7.
Good beer and random interesting non-​alcoholic drink selection.
Strauss Ice Cream for shakes. Amazing.
You can sit and eat at the picnic tables next door.
They sell great maps — biking, hiking, and driving — of the area, as well as some basic hiking stuff you’ll forget going to Point Reyes.
I like them enough to plan to stop they going into or out of Point Reyes on backpacking trips, which is almost a fifth star.

Just because you’re about the only thing out here doesn’t justify selling warm sodas for $ 1.95 — and trying to charge extra for a cup of ice.

Olema Liquor & Deli has a lot of potential and is in a prime location in between Point Reyes and Marin. What they do offer is sufficient and tastes pretty good, but they could do a booming business if they kicked the quality and variety of their offerings up a notch — especially on weekends and holidays. We picked up deviled eggs and extra drinks here to make the continental breakfast from the lodge heartier.

Me and JW have a secret place we visit near here. Last weekend a spontaneous visit to our so called secret place meant we had to buy food on our way. I remembered seeing this deli’s sign so I thought, no let’s not stop at all the amazing looking places in San Rafael, let’s get something closer. This shabby little place doesn’t fit in with the area to say the least. I imagined amazing sandwiches with local cheeses and veggies. Instead imagine Cisco food service items and big brand bread vs. nice little bakery breads. My pesto sandwich with turkey and veggies was a limp pesto soggy mess with dry turkey and whitish tomatoes. For $ 7 I expected more. Next time I am in the area I will be more prepared.
Oh and the staff, a little bit unorganized but perhaps it was their youth?
