This place is old Japanese if you like this kinda of atmosphere. The drinks are good and the food is decent.

First I must say that I travel for a living and everywhere I go I eat this type of food. I love it! I am still sitting at the table here and I don’t write a lot of reviews but had to comment here. This place has by far the slowest chef on the planet! Nice guy but OMG. Secondly the rice here was by FAR the worst rice I have ever had served to me! The filet was small and also one of the worst I have ever had. It had flavor and it was all bad! The veggies were fantastic! Some of the best prepared veggies in most places! The chicken was good at best. By far I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves this type of food.

Awww. How far you have fallen. I think the recipe for the salad dressing is the same since I was a little kid coming here 30 years ago. It was in another location originally, but it’s the same. I guess thats good and bad. I hope you guys bring it back.

We’ve had our Holiday dinner here for the past few years. Atmosphere wasn’t as fun as it used to be. Food was so so. Our chef was entertaining. Waitress was so slowwwww with refills and such. Our other tables seemed to have better service. Mgrs seemed to hover outside the doorway wondering how much longer we were going to be. Not sure if I would come back again

Waited 20 mins for the hostess to even acknowledge that we were there and after that everything whent downhill, drinks took forever and the chef seemed rushed to get to other patrons. Will not be back.

Not Unilocal but Help! They need it tonight, we have celebrated every birthday and family holiday here since they were on Meridian,(I think). The food was horrible, even the salad was icy wet with standing water in the bottom of the bowl, we couldn’t even taste the dressing. The busboy snatched up my plate before I was finished and our server was the only one to sing happy birthday to the birthday girl.

This place has looked the same for like 10 years and I’ve only been here twice. It wouldn’t kill them to renovate the place to be a little more up to date. I feel like I’m walking into an 80’s movie. In fact, the last time we were here was around a decade ago for a birthday and it was 80’s themed. Our waitress seemed about as enthusiastic as Ally Sheedy in «The Breakfast Club» by the late, great John Hughes… The menu is another thing that could use a work over. I mean, I thought only«Mom & Pop» diners laminated their one page menus at the local library. The«decorative» fountains flow about as smoothly as an overflowing toilet at the bus station. The one thing the have is amazing chefs! They’re friendly, very interactive and know how to work that grill!!! I recommend them for the food, just not so much their décor…

I can dig the decorating vibe, the simple menu and the free ice cream! Pick your cocktail and meat and enjoy the lowered mental stress on having to pick the tastiest meal :-) Adding some sushi appetizers would be a nice touch. Veggie plate option is lovely! Meat was a little over cooked but chef was chatty; not much of a show. Reservation needed even on week nights so OKC peeps sure do frequent this original hibachi. Yum!

This place is amazing! The environment is awesome and the staff is great. They put on a little show when they cook your food to make the experience more fun. Plus, the food is incredible. BESTSHRIMP I’VEEVERHAD. Highly recommend this!

Don’t expect to go unless you have a reservation. We were told they were booked until 9:15 even though we go there at 5p and there was one full table. Will probably not return

We come here every year for my birthday. We love the food(although I suspect the pound of butter they use really helps with that!). The wait staff can be hit and miss, but the last few visits we’ve had there our chefs have been outstanding. Very personable and entertaining. We take my nephew who is 2 ½ years old. The last few chefs we’ve had have kept him amused for the whole show and even dished him up little treats that he would eat — and he’s a tough critic. We’ll definitely keep coming back for birthdays to come.

Wow… Waited to be acknowledged for nearly 10 minutes. Hostess finally came out and she couldnt seat us because they didnt have enough chefs. There werent more than three tables occupied. The manager walked out as we were leaving. I asked if he were really going to let us leave because he didnt say a word to us. He just said we cant help you. The seven of us left and went to a better restaurant. Its no wonder that only two chefs will work. The place was empty.

My wife and I frequent Shogun for special occasions and casual outings. The food is always worth the wait and very filling. Our favorite chef is LB. Keep up the good work, Shogun!

I love Shogun, especially their ginger sauce. But I must say the Shogun in Tulsa is quite a bit nicer than this location. They have excellent steak, I usually do the steak and shrimp combo. The chefs are very good, but not as interactive as I would expect from a hibachi location. While I’m in OKC I prefer musashi’s for their service and quality. Although shogun is much better price wise.

Took my 9 year old daughter here on a daddy daughter date while my wife was home sick on a Friday night. It was very good. The cooks are better than all of the other japanese places in town. The food was very good. The steak was cooked perfect and the portions were very good as well. They have a childrens menu which also had generous portions. my 9 year old took a to go box home. Probably the best japanes/hibachi in the OKC area. Great place for families, friends, or a date night.

Our chef was cool. The usual show they put on front of you is pretty awesome. It made it even better that even though we had little kids at our table, the chef still included them in it. Watching the joy on their face was awesome. The food was pretty good, I wasn’t a fan of the chicken but had ordered a combo steak/chicken platter so I didn’t go hungry. Will return in the future!(people complain about spending about $ 60 here, you are paying for an experience/meal just like you would at an amusement park!)

I don’t know what the point of a reservation is if they’re not going to keep your time that you reserved. I actually got lost trying to find this place as I walked right past it to the other end of the mall. This place is located right as you walk into the door on the right. The food is very average and the price is around $ 15+. The chef just throws a bunch of ingredients on the grill(hot surface thing) and that was basically it. The chef tricks are fun to watch but I think teenagers/kids will enjoy it more than I will. They also have some figurines that you can drink out of. It costs around $ 6 and it was larger than I expected for a figurine.

I used to love Kabuki in Edmond but when they closed we had to find another go to hibachi grill. While it’s not super close by, Shogun is definitely my favorite Japanese Steakhouse/Hibachi grill in Oklahoma City. We went last night and our chef, David, was absolute fantastic! He was engaging, charming, entertaining and made sure our food was exactly as we requested. We had the chicken and steak combo… which is what we normally get here. The food is good, the portions are larger(I had so much left over that lunch and dinner are covered today), and the staff is genuinely nice. I can’t quite tell what is in the soup… it has a flavor I can’t quite capture… a little shot of sherry or something perhaps… but it is good. The ginger dressing is tasty, but they usually are, the fried rice is yummy and the sauces are good… I prefer the spicy mustard sauce. The only thing missing is the mayo sauce I used to get at Kabuki… no one in town has it and I loved that. LOVEDIT! For those that complained about having to wait, they can’t control how long people will linger over a meal. While they have a set time that they estimate a grill will turn over, if you get a group of strangers that click or big party of people catching up they could stay longer… and they can’t ask them to leave just because the next group is waiting. If you’re out for a nice night, go to the bar and enjoy a drink before dinner. Relax and go with the flow… and when you get seated at the grill, enjoy the show, the food, and the potential good company of strangers.

We ate here for our sons 18th birthday. There were 6 of us. We had reservations at 8:00 and were seated immediately upon arrival. The wait staff was timely and very attentive. The chef was humorous, experienced and very entertaining. We had a great time! The food was amazing and we all left feeling full and very satisfied!
