Sara Sara Cupcakes

I am from NCY and at $ 4.25 per cupcake this is not a price you can easily find in the city. I do not mean that in a good way either… There is only one place I can thing of in the NE that is more expensive and that place goes the extra mile with their cupcakes. This place the cupcakes are fine, but nothing exceptional and definitely not worth it.

Hands down the best cupcakes in Oklahoma City! My absolute favorite. They’re also super friendly. I’ve never gotten a cupcake flavor I didn’t like. I’ve tried blueberry honey, judge joe cannon, strawberry, sir elton john, and girl scout. All really good!

I want to give this place 5 stars, because the employees are always so kind! But I remain neutral about the cupcakes.
Sure, there is a large selection of flavors. The cupcakes are large, and one is enough to fill you. But they just don’t blow me away. Aside from the unique selection and size, the cupcake itself did not stand apart.
I do like the frosting. It’s smooth, creamy, and not overly sugary and fake like a grocery store cupcake. I do think they could be more moist. The cupcakes are usually pretty dry. It’s clear they may be struggling, because there are usually cupcakes left near closing. It would benefit Sara Sara to only make a few of each cupcake all throughout the day. Then maybe they don’t be so dry. But I’m not in the cupcake business so surely that is not a plausible solution. I suggest finding another one.
And I also think the inside needs a renovation. A bit dark. Not as cozy as you’d think, as it is inside an old house.
The iced glasses and milk was great. I’ll give it that. I agree with past reviewer that almond milk or soy should be available. But my question to that reviewer is WHY would you even come to a cupcake shop if you are on paleo? Nothing about Sara Sara is paleo friendly. Thanks for the laugh.

I purchased 6 delicious Sara Sara cupcakes to thank the surgical staff that performed surgery on my mother. I was highly disappointed in the flimsy box the cupcakes were placed in. Not only was box thin and the bottom unsecure, there was no dividers to keep the cakes separate. Such a shame to have such a poor presentation of a tasty product.

Today was our 3^rd time at Sara Sara. I would never drive here just for cupcakes (with the experiences we have had) but I had been next door at Warby Parker & my kids were begging. I need to learn to say no! From the time we approached the counter, to my kids handing their used dishes back to her, employees facial expression did not change. Smug & rude. Way to sell your $ 4 cupcakes! Our visit a few months ago they were so dry, it hurt my throat going down. I had to buy a drink because I felt like I was choking. Today the 2 cupcakes we got were moist, but we are not fans of Sara Sara. I am partly shocked someone has built such a successful business on mediocre product & customer service.

I just purchased a Vanilla-​Vanilla and Strawberry cupcake for me and my daughter. The young dark haired female clerk handled our cupcakes without washing her hands. My cupcake needed strawberries added and she finished our transaction, went to the back, which was in plain view from where I was standing, cut the strawberries and placed it in top of my cupcake. I was appalled and returned the items. You do not handle anyone’s food without washing your hands, it’s completely unacceptable and unsanitary.

Yikes. Not sure if I went on an off day but the cupcake was dry and there wasn’t even close to enough icing. It looked like it had been iced when the cupcake was still hot. Not pretty. Not delicious. More than 4 dollars for this? There are lots of other cupcake places in town. This one has been my only negative experience.

This place is seriously on the a new level. The spot itself is charming. The cupcakes are dope, and you can’t beat a milk bar.

This was my first time eating at Sara Sara cupcakes and I had the Sir Elton John cupcake. It had just the right amount of sweetness in the cake with delicious icing. I definitely recommend it. Plus they had football on the TV.

In all fairness we stopped by just before closing and cupcakes were all a bit dry. I think if they were stored air tight with a couple on display, they’d last longer? For the price though I would expect absolute perfection and my wife, two children and I just did not experience it on this evening. Ample parking although a bit dark, restroom door needs some repair but restroom was adequate and clean. Love the milk bar but how about some soy or almond milk for lactose intolerant or Paleo eaters? Great concept, just need to tweak for perfection. The entire business seemed very clean.

These are really good! I especially like the crepes, but the cupcakes are also super. Coffee is good also!
Staff is always pleasant and helpful.

Let me just say I am very particular and picky about cupcakes.
Who wants to spend $ 4 on a blob of icing with a bite of cake? If you prefer a more cake to icing ratio on your cupcake, Sara Sara is your cupcake destination.
$ 2 Tuesday’s makes their product even better.
I recommend the strawberry shortcake.

Upon walking in the cupcakes were either not labeled correctly or I had to ask what each one was (and the case was half empty). The cupcake menu isn’t seen until AFTER you get around to the other side of the line — too late, you already ordered based on looks or whatever the person behind the counter said it was.
I ordered the Blueberry Honey and it was a mistake.
The frosting left a greasy taste in my mouth. I assume it was supposed to taste like whipped honey but the flavor resembled more of a soft margarine. I scraped it all off.
That left me with just the cake. The texture was soft, as a cupcake should be, but the taste was mediocre at best. A mix between a muffin and a cake.
It was not worth the over priced amount of $ 3.99 each and I definitely will not return (and will request that my friends and I go somewhere else next time it’s brought up).

I don’t have lactose intolerance, but I could see myself developing it if I were to visit Sara Sara Cupcakes more often.
The milk bar is kind of amazing, and kind of dangerous. I mean, $ 3 for milk seemed like a bit much, until I realized that it was unlimited milk. Then I was hit with a flood of memories of my childhood where I would take a bottle of Nesquik® and make my milk super chocolatey, or super strawberry-​ey, or super T2 diabetes-​ey. The frosted glass is also a nice touch. I feel like the milk bar alone is worth a visit to Sara Sara.
But the cupcakes? Meh… Some are good. Some are not so good. Some are really not so good. The apricot something-​or-​other cupcake I had the other day was dense. Like… Christmas fruitcake dense. Like… almost bent my fork dense. I didn’t finish my cupcake, if that tells you anything. While the cupcakes are are slightly bigger than most of the other cupcakes in the city, they’re not worth the $ 4 price tag.
The location is nice, and it’s a great place to end a fun date. But as far as cupcakes go, this isn’t the best that the city has to offer. Also, if you’re anything like me, you’re going to become a giant man-​child when given the opportunity to consume unlimited servings of strawberry or chocolate milk. I can’t imagine your date is going to end well if she sees you getting unnecessarily excited over milk of all things.
P. S. Oh yeah, Keep It Local OK will net you a 10% discount on the cupcakes. But not on Sundays, because the cupcakes are 20% off on Sundays.
P. P. S. Oh yeah, one more time. Pierre Pierre being a part of Sara Sara does make it an interesting place to try out, not just for cupcakes, but for crepes as well. So… there is that.

Absolutely the best cupcakes I’ve ever had in my life! Made with such love and creativity you can taste their enthusiasm for baking! We lived in OKC some time ago and every time we visit we stock up and share it with our families back home. It’s a must stop for us. The strawberry one is my personal favorite. No place like this in Miami fl. A true OKC gem!

Overrated. We didn’t even know about the Cupcake Wars thing until we saw a sign in the store. We stopped by after lunch next door to grab some for our family. Highly disappointed. Way too dense with little flavor. I cannot figure out how they made it to a cupcake show. Maybe by look alone?.?

On a walk around the artist district of the city, I decided to check out this place after seeing the cute outside area. I’m not a big fan of cup cakes, but to be perfectly honest I just wanted a place to chill for a bit that had a bathroom.
The inside was less cozy than I was expecting and much more light and modern, like a brightly colored frozen yogurt bar. The girl at the counter was not very friendly, but she did explain how the place got it’s name (in honor of the owners cousin who passed.) Since I had already taken advantage of their bathroom, I felt it would be rude not to sample something, but good lord those cupcakes are huge. I chose a funky-​named cherry cheesecake concoction, which was tasty but extremely sweet and a bit dry so I could only eat about half. Definitely a treat to share, or the perfect gift for someone who enjoys eating their feelings.
Overall a pretty expensive bathroom break, both in price and calories. I can see cup-​cake fans enjoying this place, but I’ll pass next time.

All 3 Sara Sara experiences… I kept taking another bite just hoping the taste and texture will improve, but it doesn’t. It’s DRY. SO DRY that if you cried on your cupcake it wouldn’t absorb your tears. You could throw it against a wall, and it wouldn’t crumble.
I’ve even bought them for guests. None of us finished our cupcakes before they lost appeal, and we eat like fat kids. If Sara Sara worked on their product quality and appearance, I think they could make a killing in OKC because of their locations.

Sara Sara has added on Pierre Pierre Creperie, serving savory crepes at lunchtime and sweet crepes all day. I got a chance to stop in last week and had the lunch special, which is a savory crêpe, soup or salad, and a drink for $ 9. I had the Harry Lee crêpe, which had ham, mozzarella and spicy honey, with the salad. I loved all of it. Both the crêpe and salad were delicious, and it was really the perfect portion. I left feeling satisfied, but not overwhelmingly full like I do when I eat out at other places around. This will probably become a regular lunch spot for me! There are some other savory options that sounded great and I will have to stop in and try a sweet option sometime.
At this visit, I also got some cupcakes to go — the Sir Elton John and the Blueberry Honey. The blueberry kind of reminded me of a blueberry muffin. It was still good, but definitely not my favorite from Sara Sara. The Sir Elton John lived up to its reputation — it was great! The texture is really yummy for a cheesecake cupcake and the cherries and graham cracker crumbles on top went perfectly.

I have yet to meet a girl that doesn’t go batshit crazy over the place.
I’ll start with a disclaimer: I’m not big on desserts, let alone cupcakes, but this place puts it down. Delicious cupcakes for a good price. No complaints here.
What I love:
1) Wide variety with creative concepts
2) The employees were down to earth and laid back
3) I’ve never seen it crowded. Always just one or two people in here.
