Right away we were greeted & welcomed by Tiffani & a hostess. Lovely, little Cajun restaurant. Some of the reviews aren’t to fair. We just aren’t in the French quarter people. The Lost Cajun is hands down one of the best non-corporate chain restaurants with-in the Permian Basin. They offer a small sampler of all their gumbos, étouffées, & a lobster bisque. Such a nice touch-seriously appreciated that one! Their catfish is amazing.(I prefer tons of lemon) Lobster bisque Omggg so tasty, & the bread seemed homemade! Oh we got gator bites too! Totally hitting this spot up once a week. Great job Tiffani, she was wonderful. Oh and they had flat screens(playing sports), mardi gras beads for kids(I totally snagged some for myself) &CRAWFISH! I’ll be back soon!!!

One word. Terrible! Crawfish were frozen then thawed then cooked again. Got 3 lbs paid $ 32 if they are not fresh they should advertise it. Ordered 10 shrimp got 8. Worst experience ever. Wait staff was the only thing going for this place.

Horrible! Absolutely nothing close to Cajun food or even creole. As a true Louisianan I can tell you this with knowledge. The seafood gumbo does not even contain seafood which is a direct statement from the staff. The fried shrimp is already precooked then put in flour and sort of fried which results in a very rubbery spongy product. The roast beef Po boy is made out of cheap deli meat that is topped with some sort of instant gravy and is nothing like the true beef debris that they try and sell you. The red beans and rice are the wrong red beans and does not even have rice everything about this place is wrong and should not even be open it is a disgrace to Cajun and Creole cuisine.

Service was horrible, took 10 – 15 to get a menu. The tea tasted like water. The waitress asked did we want crack in a cup, I wasn’t sure what that meant so she said tea with a lot of sugar! Probably won’t come back the food is not«Cajun» at all!!!

Solid four stars. The food here is very tasty. The samples can help guide your choice if you have never had cajun food. Service is fast at non-peak times. Lobster Bisque and Seafood Gumbo are my top picks.

I ordered the fried oysters(small). They were the size of nickels. With batter. Sad. and a couple weren’t cooked all the way. The french fries were hard. The cole slaw had no flavor. If the dinner had been GOOD, I wouldn’t have minded paying $ 17, but for the dinner I received, it was MUCH too expensive. There are TOOMANY good eating places, so I don’t think I EVER have to go there again!

Why does the Gumbo have no meat? That’s insane. I frequent NOLA often and there has never been a time I have gotten any type of Gumbo with no meat. They should be embarrassed. Their Cajun truly is lost…

Pricey but hey it is something different so I am ok with the price. I thought the tasters of the soup like dishes was a WONDERFUL idea. They were all good to me I got the Jumbulaya it was good and it was a large portion. The Poboy was good the remalaude was very good. The place was PACKED on a Saturday at noon but the service was fine. I will absolutely go back but I will get either the Poboy or the gumbo not both it was too much and more than I wanted to spend for lunch. PS the Alligator bites for appitizer was some of the best I ever had would highly reccomend

Food isn’t bad, but don’t look for meat of any kind to be on any of the soup, gumbo or bisque. Prices are way too high for what you get… but if you’re desperate for Cajun food, it is available here.

I’ll preface my remarks by saying I was in New Orleans two days before I saw this place from the hotel I was staying in nearby. I love creole/cajun food so I dropped in. Interior is nice — similar to several places in New Orleans. Friendly staff, prompt service… and they even have a small«breadboard» of small sampler cups for you to try. I ordered seafood gumbo… what a disappointment! Roux was actually pretty tasty… BUT. like the old Wendy’s commercial — WHERE’S THEMEAT? There is suppose to be SEAFOOD in seafood gumbo — that you can easily see and feel with your tongue! I had two —(2), TWO small pieces of rather tough, cold, old tasting shrimp no bigger than the end joint of my pinky finger… THATWASIT! It’s like they tossed those TWO pieces in at the last minute because the«soup» was warm, but the pieces were cold… and they did not taste good. There was no other«meat» in the soup. $ 13 for basically just soup? I asked the waitress and she apologized but said«that’s the way they make it here». I’ll be back in Odessa for business in six weeks at the same hotel… won’t be visiting this restaurant again however. In real cajun seafood gumbo… you have a great amount of meat of several kinds of seafood — and you can’t get a spoonful of just«soup broth» when you scoop some up… there are several pieces of meat in every scoop! Maybe the place will get to stay in business from the one time visits from the folks in the hotels, and maybe the locals will be ok with such small samples of seafood… but I highly doubt it. Too bad — it is a charming little place with a great staff. I highly suggest the owner needs to take a trip down to New Orleans — go visit New Orleans Seafood and Spirits, a favorite among locals there… heck there are thousands of great places to eat there… but I see from comments now on 8⁄10 that customer had the same problem — no seafood in his gumbo… maybe the owner doesn’t pay attention.

I don’t know if it’s because it was my first time having Cajun food or what, but this place was no good. The place was jam packed, our waitress took our order and forgot to put it in so people that had arrived 20 min after us received their food before us. I was extremely disappointed in this place. I will NEVER go back.

I only gave it 1 star because I had to to be able to write something! I am a Cajun and its seems they’ve lost the only Cajun that could cook! The only thing worth going back for was the beer, needless to say, I will not be going back!

Very great restaurant, it’s also nice to have something different for a change. These two towns mostly have Mexican food and steak houses that’s pretty much it. Cajun food really hits the spot, great atmosphere as well.

Where to begin… samples. You walk in sit down to a community or private table atmosphere. You are asked if it’s your first time and you are given samples. Samples of the red beans and rice, chicken & sausage jambalaya, lobster bisque, crawfish gumbo, seafood gumbo, etc. I chose the red beans and rice as well as the chicken and sausage jambalaya. Excellent! I haven’t had such awesome Cajun food since my time in Houma. I followed my lunch with a couple of Beignets. A little larger than expected but good. 3 is way too many for a small order. 1 for lunch would have been sufficient. Thank you and I will return.

Excellent catfish, shrimp is ok and so are the fries. Worth trying, one of the best catfish places in town. Staff goes around giving free gumbo samples and beer samples which provided for a unique atmosphere, an additional star for that, would return however food is overpriced.

Food was very good. If you order a cup of Gumbo, it come out in a very large bowl. It could definitely be a meal by itself. They are still working through some of the kinks. Great lunch specials. Haven’t tried the beignets yet.

Amazing, 5-Seafood platters in 11.01 minutes. Crispy not oily, hot, crunchy, fries lightly salted, being in Slidell for 15– yrs. This is the closest thing to LA food in 3-yrs. So yes I’m back and here again.

Food sucked very over priced garbage, would have rather eaten at Long John Silvers, if in the area don’t bother wasting your time. No flavor, all food needed salt plus came out cold. Will not be going back, wast of time & money

There are two things I like about this restaurant. First, the waitresses are great! They are attentive and they seem to have fun at the job interacting with customers. Second, I do like that they allow you to sample all their gumbos in a quick sampler platter. However, the food is just… well, it doesn’t have that trinity aroma you would expect from a cajun restaurant, nor does it even have that complex combination of flavor, it’s just watery, weak, and a step up from canned soup. And to add insult to injury, the fried foods, like fried oysters and fried shrimp, were COLD! Fried foods should always be freshly fried. If I wanted my fried shrimp sitting out for a couple of hours then I would have gone to Long Johns Silver.

There is nothing authentic about this place. The Gumbos taste like they come from a can. The sample of lobster bisque tasted nice and the Catfish Po Boy was fine but this is not real Cajun food.

Good service, but poor, over priced food. Shrimp Poor Boy had more bread then shrimp $ 13. Seafood Gumbo first came with no seafood?! … Throw in a few shrimp and water down roux $ 8. Server Anita was very good — talent would get her bigger tips at a better restaurant. If you are in area don’t bother stopping by.

The food was very good at the Lost Cajun. I got a Shrimp PoBoy sandwich and my friend got a roast beef and gravy sandwich. We each also got some Jambalaya. They gave us a free sampler of dishes and all of the soups/stews tasted very good with good rich flavor. The Jambalaya was great and on the spicy side. All of the shrimp in the sandwich were fried perfectly, the tartar sauce tasted good and I really enjoyed the shrimp sandwich. The roast beef sandwich was not bad but not as good as it could have been. The beef and gravy was just slightly warm and I didn’t think the cut of beef was the best. Water does not seem to be R.O. There is some filtration from straight city water but if you have just water it has a little of a city water taste. You really cannot taste this in the sodas. Lemonade was O.K. but a little weak. The atmosphere was very noisy. You almost could not hear your dining companion across the table. Very busy with people going every which way. I wish the establishment was bigger overall. It reminds me of Clear Springs as far as the décor but is smaller. Air conditioning could not keep up with the roasting outdoor heat, kitchen heat and heat of all the people inside. It was hotter inside than a place with refrigerated air conditioning ideally should be. The waitress was friendly and professional and service was prompt. The owner or manager was checking in with the customers and supervising everything and you could tell he cared about his business. Price was on the expensive side. At supper time, For 2 sandwiches(one with french fries, one with potato salad), 2 small Jambalayas, 2 fountain drinks and a Beignet it was around $ 49.00. I don’t mind paying a little bit more than some other places for the quality of the food here. They will give you a free refill on jambalaya/gumbo if you want too but we were plenty full and one helping was enough. I definitely want to go back and try some of their other dishes and get some chicory coffee. This is the only restaurant outside of Wall Street Bar and Grill in Midland which serves New Orleans style dishes here.

First Unilocal review for this location so I will try to do my best with this review(while I’m still eating). Waited about 10 – 15 mins to be seated which of course is not bad at all in Odessa at the 7:00p hour. We were greeted quickly at the door and then offered a sample tray while we waited. Best idea ever, it makes you decision easy as far as taste but also makes your decision difficult because everything was delicious. Our server Reyna was awesome. Explained the menu items and was very attentive to our needs.(Great Job). So, the food: I ordered the seafood platter everything was fried perfectly and you were able to independently taste each food item. Catfish, shrimp and oysters tasted like they should. I also ordered the Lobster Bisque. Good flavor and was creamy. And of course I saved room for a couple of beignets. I don’t want to ruin it for you, but I got 3… Overall great place for lunch or dinner, decent pricing, great atmosphere, wonderful severs and I will return. THANKYOUCHEF!!!
