Oceanside Abbey Carpet & Floor

Oceanside Abbey Carpet & Flooring just completed replacing almost all of the flooring in my house — porcelain tile downstairs that has the look of hardwood and carpeting on the stairs and second floor. I am so pleased with the results. Throughout the entire process Chuck worked work me to achieve the look I desired, answered all of my questions (and there were many) and understood that stress associated with this type of project. I also really appreciated the neatness/​cleanliness of his trades — from the demo to the installers to the painters. If you are considering replacing yours flooring, I highly recommend you consider Chuck and his team.

Oceanside Abbey was Grade A Top Notch! Had them install carpet in a kids playroom and winding stairs.
Chuck the owner came out to personally measure the areas I wanted flooring installed. He then followed up immediately and we met together at his store to pick out the flooring. Chuck is old school in the sense that he is very hands on, hard working and follows through in a timely manner and makes sure you are absolutely happy with the end product. He is a rare breed nowadays, especially in this SOCAL area.
His installers were very meticulous and real pros. I am a very picky customer as well and hard to please.
I will definitely be going back in the future to Abbeys for all of my flooring needs.

We recently replaced our downstairs carpet and chose Abbey Carpet, Oceanside, after checking with Costco and another carpet store. Abbey was by far the best choice! Ken Calkin, the Sales Manager, was above all others in providing information/​guidance and in overall friendly customer service. He gave us a competitive price, even less than Costco for the same carpet, so the choice was easy. Their installers knew what they were doing in removing the old and installing the new. We are very pleased with the overall experience/​results and would highly recommend Abbey Carpet.

I’m happy to say that my previous one star review was a result of several two-​way miscommunications. No one’s fault. Stephanie corrected the problem immediately, finished the work in one day and was a delight to work with.

Chuck from Abbey’s Carpet did such an amazing job servicing our carpet needs for our new home. Moving from LA to San Diego with two toddlers takes a lot of managing I’ve learned. Chuck worked with me selecting the perfect carpet for our very active family. He mailed me samples to our home so we could make the best choice. With his great service and great communication we were able to move into our new home with new carpet installed. Easy breezy. I would 100% recommend Abbey Carpet.

In one day (08/​03/​2015), three hard-​working and delightful installers from Oceanside Abbey Carpet installed 107 sq. yards of new Fabrica Accolade carpeting and Stainmaster XD 3/​8″ rubber padding in my two-​story town home in Carlsbad, CA. The carpeting looks absolutely beautiful. Along with the high end rubber padding, the carpet feels like walking on a cloud. I anticipate this «feel» will last a long, long time. Abbey’s installers moved several large pieces of furniture and hauled away all the old carpet and pad. Abbey was not the lowest bidder for this job, but they weren’t the highest either. I selected Abbey for their apparent professionalism; well laid out, beautiful show room; fair price; and promptness in providing information. I dealt directly with Abbey’s sales manager, Ken, who is very knowledgeable and efficient. I would highly recommend this fine establishment to others.

This is a tough review to write. I’ll start with the positive & most important issues. Stephanie, the sales person that handled my purchase was very helpful, friendly & responsive. She worked with me on my tight schedule for installation between close of escrow & moving in. The installation was done as scheduled & the flooring looks great. They paid attention to the details of the numerous cuts & thresholds. Unfortunately, they did not follow through with the little details that would have made it a completely positive experience. I was told they were finished but when I went to the house to check the work, there were scraps of baseboard scattered around, they had not rehung the closet doors they removed for flooring installation, they had not cleaned the floors & there was glue left on the floors in several locations. I called Stephanie & she eventually found out the cleaning crew that apparently normally follows the installation had not come that day though she’d thought they had. They did come the next day & got rid of the debris but still did not clean the floors. My movers were due to move me in the next day & I did not have cleaning supplies at the house yet to try to clean the glue from the floors so I could determine if it would come up. I called Stephanie but could only leave a message, asking that she or someone from the store come to see the situation before the movers came, in case the glue did not come up & flooring needed to be replaced. Stephanie never returned my call nor did anyone ever come to evaluate the glue blotches. I was eventually able to get the glue blotches off the floor without damage to the new flooring. How much nicer it would have been however if they’d cared enough to have done that at the end of the installation, so I wouldn’t have had to have the added stress of my expensive new floors possibly having damage from the installation to worry about on top of moving! I had to give them a fairly good ranking since the actual installation was well done, but they sure disappointed me on follow through!

Amazing customer service and they work with just about any budget. Don’t make a decision on your carpet needs without checking here first!

I had carpet installed at my condo. Chuck, the owner, helped with my purchase. He recommended the perfect carpet. Chuck was extremely helpful and professional. I highly recommend Oceanside Abbey Carpet and ask for Chuck.

I had a great experience with Abbey Carpet in Oceanside and would definitely use them again. They were recommended to me by my realtor. Our house was built in 1989 and still had the original tile on much of the first floor. which needed to be updated. We are staying in the home, so this was not for resale. Chuck, the owner, was involved with the project from start to finish. The estimate was accurate and fair. I paid an additional 10% to seal the foundation underneath as there were rather substantial cracks. There was a lot of tile left over, which they took, and I received a $ 600 credit. The project took 3 weeks, exactly as expected. The teams for demo, tiling and carpet (installed in living room and stairs) were great. The tile work was meticulous. We used a porcelain tile. My husband and I are thrilled with the results. Chuck has a great design sense and was great to work with. This is a franchise business and he is the owner. You definitely feel like everyone is dedicated to quality of service.

My wife and bought a house that was sorely in need of flooring throughout. Stephanie came out to the house while the inspection was happening on a Saturday afternoon and measured, as well as talked to us about what our vision was for the entire space. We later met with her at the Abbey showroom and she had MANY choices laid out for us, based on our previous discussion on price and materials. We made choices in Acacia hardwood, porcelian tile, carpet, and baseboard. Becuase we were literally doing the entire house, stephanie really dug deep on the price and made it much more affordable. The Abbey crew did the demo and install in stages that cooresponded with the overall renovation plans. The install guys were all just awesome. They made sure that they were careful and tidy, and always checked in with me to ensure that they were making the right decisions in the install process. As an example, checking with me to see not only how the tiles should be laid out, but EXACTLY where the pattern should termintate at the angled doorway, and how that would affect the layout of the room. They could have very easily taken the path of least resistance, but instead chose the path that made me (the customer) happy. The finished product was absolutely gorgeous. The acacia hardwoods have so much depth of color and Stephanie recommended that we go with 5 inch base to really frame them out, and she was so right. We also took her recommendation to put carpet on the stairs, but to do the risers in hardwood. Everyone comments on how awesome that looks and it really sets our house apart. To be fair, there were a couple of bumps in the road during the install process, but I think that’s what happens when doing a reno project. What set Abbey apart, was how they (and specifically Stephanie) responded to making things right. She always made sure that any issue was addressed promptly and to my satisfaction. When there was a delay with the carpet manufacturer, she proactively called me and provided options and regular updates to make sure that we were involved in the process and that the project stayed on track. She even offered to personally pay for our storage costs if the carpet delay caused us a delay in moving in. Thankfully, it didn’t come to that, but the offer was real, and it was absolutely something that she didn’t have to do. Finally, Abbey even went above and beyond to make the cabinets right with trim pieces that Lowes flat wouldn’t provide. Certainly not the responsibility of the flooring company, but Stephanie said «we just want you (the customer) to be happy.

I have used abbey carpet twice now and have had such wonderful product and service. They have the best selection in flooring and knowledgeable staff. When you call someone always answers the phone. As far as installation you can’t have a nicer more efficient crew. The workers go above and beyond to make the installation perfect. I would definitely recommend Abbey Carpet.

I am extremely overdue for a review for Abbey Carpet as I promised one after my first install last year. Chuck has absolutely the best customer service and was the most resourceful with working within my budget. It was the least painless experience I’ve ever had as a consumer. With such a big decision as flooring, I went on a whim due to the reviews and proximity to my home. He delivered on every level; product and timely install, but most importantly… respect for my very limited budget. And even overextended himself and assisted with new flooring for my bathroom!
Fast forward to a year later and here I am again in need of new flooring due to the purchase of our new home. Our new home is located all the way in El Cajon and thought there was very limited chance he would travel that far, but again this man came through a second time without any question! The owner made the 40 mile trip himself to measure while always being flexible with the multiple changes in appt times/​days.
I’m just so sorry I didn’t deliver my review after the first install as I had promised… but never too late to «yelp the crap outta this company» thanks for being so dependable and delivering an amazing product!!!

The customer service here is reprehensible. Chuck Ward, the owner is rude, condescending, smug, authoritative and seemingly unhappy. How they stay in business with this type of customer relations is beyond me.
I would probably think twice before going to this company for any flooring needs. If this is how they treat you prior to a sale, I can’t even imagine what it would be like after wards.

Abbey Carpet installed floors for us back in October. Everyday I walk through my front door is a happy day. The beauty of our new cork floors is stunning. We worked directly with Chuck the owner. He’s quick to respond and worked within our budget. I’d recommend them and their install team to anyone.

I had an amazing experience with Ken at Philips Abbey Carpet. I was actually referred to them by a realtor on a blog. I was a bit skeptical at first as I didn’t know the realtor but true to his recommendation, this company was fantastic to deal with.
We recently bought a gorgeous house and it had beautiful Pecan hardwood flooring downstairs but the upstairs and the staircase was carpeting (which we hate). So we decided to replace it.
Ken with the company came out and he measured the entire upstairs as well as the staircase. 4 of the 5 bedrooms in the house are upstairs. Fortunately the previous owner had a sample from the downstairs but Ken discovered that the manufacturer no longer made that exact wood flooring any more but he ordered in several samples and I chose the one that was the closest match.
He originally told me that it would take about 2 weeks to finish the job. It was about 2,200 sq. feet upstairs plus the staircase. I also hired him to change out some carpet inlay in some of the rooms and it also turned out beautifully.
His team showed up on time and these guys were VERY hard workers. He sent in a larger team of guys to work and believe it or not they finished the entire job within 1 week! The guys had a strong work ethic and mostly worked around the clock from 7:30 AM until late afternoon.
The workers had done several houses in the area, including San Diego’s Chargers QB, Philip Rivers so I knew I was in good hands. We love the new flooring! Definitely I’d high recommend this company and if you can, request Carlos and his team. They were fantastic.
Based on my experience I’d recommend this company for any flooring needs including hardwood flooring, bathroom flooring or carpeting.
I ended up ordering several thousands of dollars in rugs for the house and a slight disappointment was that it took longer than expected to get them. But to show you the level of quality and commitment and quality control, when the rugs were getting the edges on them, they noticed some quality control issues so they have to redo them. So they say it will take a few weeks more. But I’m glad they caught it before delivering them.
These guys were fantastic to deal with. Ken was always very responsive to my calls and emails which is important to me.
All in all we spent about $ 25,000 with this company but well worth it and highly recommended.

Abbey installed scraped maple hardwood flooring in our home. The house is 50+ years old, and we wanted a fresh start on the flooring before we moved in. We were blown away by the installation quality and the service. I have absolutely no hesitation recommending them. The job was top notch.

The team put down well over a thousand square feet of flooring in less than a week. This included removal of the prior flooring, (which was a mix of carpet, and multiple layers of laminate), removal of all baseboards, and undercutting of a 20′ long brick fireplace so that the wood planks could slide underneath. They also had to work around a paint and ceiling crew who were working along side them for the first 2 days.
Overall, the guys put down 3 bedrooms, an office, a long hallway, and a huge great room with a monster curved wall along one side. The great room was a beast of a job, having the undercutting of the fireplace referenced above, as well as literally not one straight wall — every cut was to line up with the curves.
Fantastic job by the install team, my highest recommendation! We couldn’t be happier with the floor or with the team that did the install.
