Fantastic! If you need a place to store your car or other belongings and you are anywhere in North County San Diego, this is the place to go. You can’t get better customer service than Jim and Tracy who made our day when it wasn’t going so well! We can’t say enough good things about the way we were treated, as well as the protection our car had in their care. The cost was reasonable and the easy access (at El Camino Real and Oceanside Blvd). made it very convenient and easy to get to. The best part of the rental was the customer experience, which for us who have had to store stuff on and off for the last 25 years is definitely the best experience and most exceptional customer service! Thanks Jim and Tracy! If we need space, we’ll be back!

I could not write enough good things about this place if I wanted to. I am in my mid twenties, so to say I am still figuring out how to do life things would be an understatement. The staff was so patient with me, I must of changed the size I needed four or five times before I committed to one. Jim was kind enough to show me all the sizes I was thinking about and continually asked me questions about what I was storing to get the right size. He never once rushed me or made me feel like I needed to hurry up. They went over all the paper work with me, David and Tracy helped me get some boxing things I needed to finish packing and Tracy even checked on me as I was moving in and swept the unit before I put my couch in. I was in awe of how helpful they were to me. Moving and packing is stressful but this staff made it as convenient as possible for me. Thank you so much for all your help!

Tracey and David, were personable and professional … and helpful from start to finish. They suggested exactly the right size unit for what I needed to store … and made certain I understood precisely how to gain entry … where to find the moving carts … and how to use the lift. And when it came time to leave they were equally helpful. A-​1 is a no hassle kind of place. But, the best part has to do with security. I’d suffered two thefts at another storage facility … but everything here was kept 100% secure. Thank you David and Tracey!

The staff was professional and amazing. Everything was clean and well taken care of. This was the first experience I have had with renting a storage unit and it exceeded my expectations.

I fled Public Storage in Carlsbad when the prices continued to skyrocket for the storage I was using. I went to A-​1 yesterday and got a new space, enjoyed the encounter with the owners who walked me through the procedure, and with the help of my helper Jesus transferred all my extraneous belongings (books, magazines, more books, more magazines) to the A-​1 facility and am completely satisfied. No more exorbitant price increases for me!

Great customer service. Very accommodating. Clean and efficient, too. We made a reservation and they got right back to me when I had questions. They also had everything ready the day of our move. Wonderful.

Overall great experience. I needed to relocate for work and had to quickly transfer contents from my old unit (a different company) to a new one. I searched several companies online and was impressed by the ease of use of A-​1 Self Storage’s website. I was able to check their sizes, see what’s available, and actually reserve a unit online! Sounds simple, but most of their competitors don’t offer this option.
I was also pleased with A-1’s hours. The company I worked with previously shut their gates at 6:00 pm, which made it nearly impossible to visit the unit after work on a weekday. A-​1 closes their gates at 8:00 pm, which gives me ample time to stop by after work.
A tip for potential customers: be sure to measure the size of the unit before moving in. The storage unit business uses a mysterious method to calculate dimensions. For example, one would assume that either exact dimensions or dimensions rounded to the nearest foot would be disclosed. But a 13.5ft measurement may be advertised as 15ft. I found this logic to hold true with multiple companies.

This is the best storage place for vehicles I have ever used. The facilities are excellent and the people make it special-​Tracey, Jim and Dave. They are personable, customer oriented and accommodating. My cars are secure and I am happy.

I have had nothing but great service and reasonable rates from A-​1 in Oceanside. The people are very friendly and helpful. The facilities are secure, clean, and well organized. I have used a few storage facilities throughout the years and this one is the best.

I rented a storage unit here for about two months while I was in-​between homes. Tracey and Jim were fantastic to deal with from the moment I walked in to inquire about renting a unit there. They were very friendly and accommodating to my situation. I moved my belongings out of my unit and into my new home today. Everything was just as I left it. Tracey and Jim seem to always be on-​site. The front office faces the entrances to the facility and storage units. The staff have a clear view of everyone who comes onto the property. I felt safe there, and was very satisfied with the high level of customer service. Thanks Tracey and Jim!

Amazing customer service. The employees there are a wonderful help and their prices are great. Out of the several storage places in the area I’ve hit up they are my favorite. I highly recommend them.

I have been storing/​renting at this location since Jan. 2014. Up to July, I was happy with my experience. In July I had to move into a smaller unit. I signed a contract for a 5×10 unit, but when I started to physically move my stuff into said unit, I realized it was actually a 5×8 and 4 inches; it was ACTUALLY MEASURED at 5×8 and 4 inches. When I questioned this I was told that according to their records the unit is listed as a 5×10, so the FACT that is it WAS NOT the 5×10 I signed a contract for was a non-​issue for them. The guy actually looked me in the eye and told me so AND THAT I SHOULDN’T TAKE IT PERSONALLY, IT WAS JUST BUSINESS!!! Because I was STUCK between a rock and a hard place (I had 2 men I had hired to help me waiting as I dealt with this dishonest craziness) I ended up having to rent a 5×15 (supposedly there were no 5×12s in that building) in the same building at a higher cost! And of course, I now wonder if the original unit I had been renting since Jan 2014 was actually the 8×15 I signed a contract for. I do not recommend this facility to anyone, ever. I FEEL CHEATED AND ABUSED, AND THEY DON’T CARE ONE TINY BIT!

I wish I could give half a star because I would. I rented a unit while my husband was deployed because I was pregnant, very sick and moved home to have surgery. When I returned 6 months later everything was fine until I started moving stuff out. My friends had gotten one load done and had one left. When we got back there was a different lock on the unit and my stuff was gone. I immediately went to the office and demanded to know where my stuff was. The people in the office blew me off and told me the unit was empty when they replaced the lock and that it had been rented to someone else already. We had been gone 2 hours max and my stuff was taken (by the employees, I think.) It was too much of a coincidence that I told them I would be moving out, started to move out then all of a sudden my unit was emptied and already rented to another tenant. I asked to see the surveillance video and was told no.
I paid extra (this place is more expensive than most in Oceanside) because of the «cameras», gates and codes. I will never recommend them to anyone.

I would recommend this location to anyone and everyone. I can’t imagine ever worrying about the security of my belongings at this location. I have rented a large unit here since July, 2011. Not only were the premises immaculately clean but the staff (Jim and Tracy in particular) went above and beyond to help me with anything I needed. When it came time to move out of state this week, Jim even allowed me to have moving containers delivered and made sure they were put in the most convenient location for me. Then he called to tell me they had arrived! There is plenty of parking and room for getting big trucks in and out. Once again, I cannot stress enough that I never had a single doubt that my belongings were 100% safe at this location. Jim and Tracy, thanks for everything, you guys are doing an AWESOME job!

I had my stuff stored here for a month, but I would choose this place again. I had planned on storing at their Vista location which is a few miles away, but they sort of messed up my reservation for a space that was about 10×6. I was moving from L.A. that day so I was upset. I had reserved it under a special that would have cost me about $ 50. They offered me similar spaces for $ 180! Big price differrence. But the rep on the line offered me a space at this location free for the error, and they ended up giving us a space about 10×15. We still had to pay about $ 25 for administrative fees so it wasnt «free.» But for the space we got it was well worth it. Not to mention service at the desk was fast, friendly, and courteous.

The bottom line is, when you rent a storage space, you expect your stuff to still be there when you return from seven months in Afghanistan.
The other stuff — friendly service, clean space, etc. — is icing on the cake. When your stuff isn’t there, then the other stuff doesn’t matter.
I returned to find a lock that wasn’t the one I left on my storage unit. A-​1 cut the lock, and when they opened the door to my rented unit, I saw that most of my stuff was missing.
You might wonder — what thief (or thieves) would bother to steal your stuff, then bother to put a lock on your unit to make sure nobody steals the stuff they left behind?
Well, my friends think it makes perfect sense — Leave a lock on the unit to avoid arousing suspicions.
We also figured that this was an inside job — an employee who knows which rentals belong to people who will be gone for a while and for how long (especially easy to identify, when you offer military discounts …).
I had to file a police report, provide proof of ownership of my stolen property (i.e., find receipts for my bike, computer, etc), in order to try and get compensated via the insurance I purchased along with the storage rental, put a fraud alert on my credit reports, etc.
It will be interesting if the police can tell me whether this is a frequent occurrence at A-​1. The personnel at A-​1 certainly didn’t seem surprised — it was «oh, that sucks. Fill out this theft claim form.»
