Specialties

Known for their superb catering, Sterk’s now provides a wonderful dining experience for everyone at the new Sterk’s of Oberlin Restaurant & Tavern. The main dining room has a family-​friendly atmosphere while the tavern and bar favor a more upbeat environment. Twelve beers, including some of Ohio’s finest craft beer, are on tap. The menu consists of classic American fare with an upscale twist, all fresh cooked to order. Sterk’s only uses the finest, fresh, local ingredients to make your dining a true experience.

History

Established in 2015.

Sterk’s has been a full service catering company for over 40 years. They are continuing their catering tradition in the new Oberlin location and have expanded to a full service restaurant and bar. Sterk’s of Oberlin opened in May, 2015.

Business Owner

Shelly Sterk, along with her husband John Sterk, are the owners of Sterk’s of Oberlin. Shelly is the general manager has been employed in the family business for over 25 years. Shelly has a degree in Business Administration and Accounting.

Martini Tuesday. They just don’t have a martini menu, or know how to make any martini you might request. Like a grasshopper, or a White Russian. Apparently none of the bartenders have a smartphone to look them up either. You must get a traditional martini or they are out of their depth. I also think our waitress was someone’s mom. Very sweet, but terribly slow. Food wasn’t bad, but the service and drinks were terrible. Well, I ended up with an unsweetened ice tea. They knew what that was.

I’ve had dinner and lunch. Both times the service was awful and the price didn’t match the quality of the products they served. I would not recommend this eatery to friends or family, when oberlin has similar offerings with quality food and well trained attentive staff.

I just ate at Sterks for the first time after being given a coupon from a friend. The food is absolutely delicious. I got a wrap and burger and split it with my girlfriend so I could try both. Both were great and our orders were made quickly. It is also worth noting that this is one of a few restaurants in Oberlin with a TV if you are looking to catch a game. They also do a ton of catering but I haven’t looked into that. Overall, I highly recommend.

We set out to have an adventure at this new Oberlin restaurant and an adventure is what we got! We are so excited to call Sterk’s our new «place»! Ate the thanksgiving sandwich special and was overjoyed with the wings! So many sauce options! Cannot wait to come for $.60 wing night on Wednesdays!

Opening night for the general public. Great décor, helpful and friendly staff.
The normal hick-​ups of an opening night. Service confused about offerings and how things work. More effort put into trying to get things done, than servicing customers.
The food once we got it was good. A nice tender, juicy burger billed as a ½# that «might have been a 1/​3# burger» before cooking. For $ 10 plus dollars, I as most, would have expected more. The side of hand cut fries while good, didn’t come close to making up for the lack of billed burger.
A nice selection of draft beers, that came out warm and with way too much head, considering «the state of the art glycol cooling system.
A nice fresh look to a tired old Oberlin landmark, done on a budget.
I really hope they get their act together and work out the kinks, to fill a much needed void in Lorain County.
