Winning Windows

As part of a remodeling project we decided to replace the windows and patio door in our kitchen/​family room. We had 4 company’s out. We were shocked at the cost of this project. When we received the quote from Carol we thought she forgot something, like the windows. A really big part of our decision was when the other company’s came thru our home they were sure to point out all the things they don’t do and there was a lot of them. However when Carol walked thru there was no such thing as we don’t do and she was like right. All is installed. The quality of the windows and patio door are great. Her team of installers were very nice and professional. When they were thru they cleaned everything! We didn’t have to do anything. It was a painless experience. We will be back! Thank you Carol!

I was in a desperate time crunch, having to order windows before other construction could be done. I called Carol Cabot first thing in the morning and she speedily took my order and had exactly the right windows delivered as quickly as possible. Later, when windows I had ordered before knowing about Carol turned out all wrong, she came to the rescue again, trying to help me straighten things out even though she was super busy with many other projects and even though she would not be getting any revenue from me. If I could give Winning Windows and Carol Cabot 10 stars, I would.

This is a long overdue praise for Carol and her team at Winning Windows. If I could give Carol more than 5 stars, I would.
We replace the windows in our house (14 in all) in two stages, separated by about 10 months. Throughout the entire process Carol kept our interests in mind. She came to our first meeting with samples of two different brands and two different styles of windows (mind you, they were not easy to lug around) so that we could see how these windows operate. She gave us proposals for many different options and was able to satisfy all our very specific requirements.
Carol was very patient with us. She answered numerous technical and aesthetic questions that were way beyond most of the house owners would have asked. Even I was starting to feel impatient by some of the detail issues that my husband was relentless pursuing.

The installers from her company were courteous, competent and puncture. The jobs proceeded ahead of schedule. When hiccups aroused due to the manufacturer’s operation, Carol kept us informed and resolved the issues tirelessly. She answered my phone calls and emails promptly, kept our appointments and informed us whenever she was delayed. She was friendly and honest, scrupulous in her business dealing. My husband and I were so impressed with her that, between us, we have been affectionately referring her as ‘our window lady’.
Here, I think I need to recount my experience with two other window replacement companies to let you know why this experience with Carol and Winning Window was so great, and possibly quite unique.
My husband and I moved into an old house in Oakland in January 2014 and wanted to have most of windows replaced. I contacted 3 companies, all top-​rated ones on Unilocal.Winning Window was sort of the ‘let’s just see’ type of choice at that time, because although I liked the reviews I read, there were only two or three of them. Over the phone, I told them that I had no idea what kind of windows we would want, how the process was done, when the job would be and how much we could afford (there were a few more important areas in this old house that we had to spend money on). Basically, we needed to be educated before we could decide. I made the appointments to meet at my house with all three of them.
The representative of the first company showed up and said he had done his homework (good!). He knew exactly what kind of window we would need/​want based on the picture of the house he saw on the ‘street view’ of Google map (not so good!). He did not bring any samples. The few questions we asked were met with dismissive comments. The quote, which we received a few weeks later and only after the company owner finally called to ask if I had received any proposal, was for the top of the ‘price’ brand, no alternatives, no comparisons (bad!).
The second company representative showed up and we had a somewhat more informative session, but no samples. He called a couple of days later saying that he was sending us the proposal. However, nothing came and my phone calls and emails were not returned.
Then, came Carol and the rest is history!

Carol and her team are a dream with which to work. They kept scheduled appointments, give fair/​competitive quotes and completed the job on time. Carol gave me excellent recommendations and I could not be more pleased. I had three windows and a door replaced. They also trimmed them all out. The work turned out beautifully.
The changes transformed the space, so now I have TONS of natural light in my art studio, with no bugs!
The work crew kept the space clean and were great to work with as well. They kept to the schedule and completed the work as projected.
I would highly recommend Winning Windows.

While researching window replacements for my house, it became very apparently that the quality of installation matters at least as much as the quality of the windows. I got a few quotes and settled with winning windows because their prices were competitive and the installer got good reviews. I am very glad I went with them. The installers were very professional and clean.
On the first day of install they found water damage on the wood frame around one of the old sliding doors. They called me about it and replaced the wood and installed a z frame to prevent water from leaking in again. It took them all afternoon to do it when they didn’t have to. I have heard of a lot of horror stories about other installers just installing windows over rotten wood without saying anything. Needless to say I am very glad I went to Carol and winning windows.
The windows themselves aren’t anything fancy. But like I said, installation is important and they did a great job. I can tell a huge difference in temperature.
Go with Carol if you are looking to replace windows.

I shopped around quite a bit and was very pleased with my decision to choose Winning Windows for my complete house replacement window project (14 windows + 1 back door.) It is important to first first try and determine which brand/​quality of windows work best for your budget, then you should contact Winning Windows to see if they will sell/​install what you’re looking for. Carol offered a very competitive rate and helped by offering suggestions when I was stuck on options.
Carol’s installer (Bernardo) discovered my decaying subfloor during the install and was able to fix the issue (for an addn’l charge) without needing to bring in a different contractor. Bernardo did a great job and it worked out well because we were able avoid project delays.
Carol was very attentive and responsive throughout the process from the estimate at the beginning all the way through to follow-​up post-​install. You’d be doing it wrong if you went about shopping for replacement windows without getting a quote from Winning Windows!

I had a great experience with Winning Windows. Carol was super helpful, informative, and accommodating. I settled with her after talking to a few other window companies. I liked her prices and her great customer service: I was going through a forced home remodel (mold caused by all kinds of water damage) and needed to have at least one good experience…
Windows came on time, were well-​installed, and they look great. Carol and Bernardo also coordinated and worked very well with the other contractors that were working on different aspects of the house while they were there. I’d highly recommend them.

1. Carol could not be any sweeter. True story.
2. Windows are an investment — but they’re kind of like buying functional work shoes — not super exciting. And I can’t afford remorse, they HAVE to be good.
3. Bernardo and his installment team were super professional, they worked fast (but not TOO fast), brought their own lunch (which I found inexplicably comforting) and they stayed till the job was done, perfectly.
4. Cents showed up in my final bill, which made me feel like Carol wasn’t rounding up.
The only reason I couldn’t give Carol five stars is although it might be more expensive, being able to pay by plastic, vs. check would have been more convenient.

Carol installed some very nice windows in my condo. She has been friendly and responsive to my requests for information and her crew did a very nice installation job. I would definitely recommend her if you’re looking for a nice window install.

I need to replace all of the windows in my home so getting the best quality for the best price is very important. I googled around, checked the Better Business Bureau site and made arrangements to get three bids. The warm, wonderful owner of Winning Windows, Carol, came out in person to do preliminary measurements and promptly provided a bid that beat the other two by HUNDREDS of dollars. The pleasant surprises just kept coming — the installer was courteous and neat, the windows themselves were good looking, sturdy, and shut with comforting authority. I’ve had them in a couple years now and the performance has been great. My home is quieter and more energy efficient by far, having replaced all of the windows on the top floor of my home. I can’t wait until I can replace all of the windows on the lower floor. I won’t even bother calling anyone but Carol of Winning Windows. I’ve recommended Winning Windows to two other friends who were also delighted. Truly as good as it gets!
