The affordability of the design-​build model is made possible by the sharing of overhead for the business. Depending on the scale of the project, this can amount to a savings of up to 5−10% off the fees associated with separate architects and contractors.

Design and Consultation

New construction or remodel? We offer the best of modern, contemporary and green design and consultation for your projects. For many larger scale projects or ones that are simply in the initial phases of conception, with construction start dates further into the future, this service is offered as a means to separate the phases of the project into manageable chunks of both time and financial resources.

Build

At EWDB we appreciate the power of good design by others and will build to their exacting standards. Our construction services are led by a 2^nd generation carpenter and licensed general contractor with over 20 years experience in the profession.

History

Established in 2014.

After working for over a decade in the sweltering heat and massive expansion of Austin, TX, Ezra– along with his wife and daughter moved back home to Oakland, CA. in 2012.

In August 2014, Ezra and his brother Leon decided to go into business together to create Ezra Wheeler Design Build– A green building firm who’s dedication to the finest craftsmanship is second to none.

Relying on many years of industry know-​how and a sheer dedication to excellence, our goal is to work with our clients to design and build their ultimate dreams.

Meet the Business Owner

Ezra W.

Business Owner

Growing up the son of a carpenter, working in the trades during summers and after high school, Ezra later became a carpenter himself. This lifelong exposure to the building trades has helped him understand the building process and industry at a very intuitive and uncommon level. In his early 20’s a knee injury forced him to modify his career path and he redirected his attention to his education, finishing first in his class, with the highest honors and a 1^st professional degree in Architecture from The University of Texas at Austin.

Now, with over 20 years of experience in the profession, Ezra is an award winning designer, licensed general contractor in the state of California, journeyman level carpenter and builder of custom residences and remodels.

His work is highlighted by a strong green building ethic combined with a modern aesthetic and an unrelenting desire to create the best structures and solutions for his clients.
