Time 4 Smog Check

once again, these folks were friendly & efficient. Luis was patient, informative & finished ahead of the estimated time. Whenever the DMV demands, i will go to this convenient spot.

We’re repeat customers, this was our third visit, at least. They know their business, they’re fast but they’re also thorough. Last time there was a line, this time we were the last customer on a Saturday afternoon.
«Only 4 stars???» Alas, two problems.
First, we paid a user-​friendly $ 58, because I said we were returning and had gotten the post card from them and the writer gave me the coupon discount. Thank you! But c’mon, folks, just set a fair price and stick with it. The coupon thing is demeaning to everyone. Really.
Second, and this may not be their choice, there were no actual measurement numbers on the paperwork. Is this a resource conserving choice, or does the world want no more than «Pass» without the old «maximum», «typical», «your car» that I found so informative… I liked knowing the numbers, and I miss them.

A smog check is a smog check, really. It’s a basic service that is done by a hundred places in town. This place capitalizes on its location close to the DMV to get customers to pay the extra $ 30 they charge (easily avoided by mentioning a coupon, discount, etc., but you’ve got to know to ask). The waiting room was uncomfortably hot too. (Maybe put a fan in there, guys). But the reason for this two star review was that I had a check engine light soon after getting my smog done. I called to see if they had any idea why this would happen, and all I got was a «No, if the check engine light isn’t on when you drive away from the station, there’s nothing we can do.» No suggestions of what it might be, an attitude of «we did the job, now leave us alone». What was the problem? A loose gas cap. This is a super-​common reason for check-​engine lights, but they couldn’t say so, because, well, they’d have to admit they did it. It was awkward, because the reason I got the smog was to sell the car, and the new buyer was not impressed by the check engine light. I accept that people make mistakes, but I didn’t appreciate the customer service when I tried to inquire about it.

These guys are great! They gave me a $ 30 off coupon after I mentioned I’d found them on Unilocal,despite my obliviousness in missing the online offer. Open on Sundays, nice waiting area, friendly & fast service — everything a smog check should be.

Thank you for the followup but what you are quoting is not what I was quoted. As I said, I was quoted more than twice as much as nearby businesses.

I was dreading this task on my to-​do list, but it was totally quick and painless. They were super nice!

Just left this place. Used to be the best smog station due to its great price and proximity to DMV.
There is a new sleazy manager there and I no longer recommend this place. They’ve jacked the prices up $ 30 for no reason, offer no Unilocal or CL discounts anymore and are plain rude and dismissive.
I own a Jaguar and get this, this new manager had the audacity to tell me that because my car is a luxury model that the smog was a whopping $ 88! He then tried to justify the ridiculously high price by explaining to me that if he accidentally scratches my car, that I would be going after him for $ 1000 for the scratch. I just looked at him curiously for a moment waiting for him to crack a smile and tell me he was joking with me. Not a joke folks; they actually charge customers what they figure the owner is willing to pay based on what he drives! Drive a Jag, can’t use the coupon. Let us never be so stupid that we would believe that the more expensive the car is, the more the smog check is. Further, any company that tries to sleaze out of honoring their own coupons needs to be boycotted out of existence.
A SMOG SHOULD NEVER COST MORE THAN $ 60! EVER. Don’t let anyone ever tell you different.
This place is wrong on so many levels I won’t even waste the time to go into it.
There is an awesome smog shop called Primos Smog on West and say 25^th in Oakland that’s always $ 59 with cert and the workers are cheerful, fast and appreciative. They handed me the remote to the TV in the air conditioned waiting room and in 10 minutes, I had my paperwork ready. I drove a few blocks and saved $ 30 and a potential scratch on my car.

This place is great. Showed up on a weekday, was out in about 15 minutes. I’ll be back.

I went to the one in El Cerrito. Very fast service. I didn’t have an appointment and drove up to the shop on a Saturday. Which is awesome! Nice people. Use the coupon online to get $ 30 off! I recommend them and would go back.

The latest chapter of the epic series «Finally Getting My Son’s Car On The Road» included a stop here to get a smog check. It’s an older car, so my fingers were crossed, and I wasn’t entirely surprised when the friendly guy helping us said that the car didn’t pass. BUT! He was really helpful explaining why it didn’t pass (we’d just replaced the battery which caused the on-​board computer to delete all its data), and told us how to fix it. If the car fails the first time, the repeat test is free. We’ll be back next week for another round.

Awesome fast no hassle smog test experience. I’ve always taken my vehicles here. They are totally nice and gave me $ 30.00 for checking in.

These are nice guys, they get the job done, and they’re efficient. My coupon was expired, but I asked nicely and they accepted it anyway.

Had a Groupon deal and they were friendly, realistic about the wait time (they were very busy) and offered advice on where I could get coffee or eat nearby. I even lost my paperwork and went back to get it reprinted. They happily reprinted a copy for me even though it turned out I wouldn’t need it at the dmv. They were very sweet and accommodating!

I found this station using Unilocal,and it was quick and easy. The men running the service station were curious and professional, and overall it was an easy experience.

Great place; quick service; happy employees. Good waiting room + I only had to spend about 15 minutes getting my smog check for registration renewal. I live in Oakland, have seen this place for many years + finally thought to give it a try. I asked for their smog check rate + was quoted $ 79.95, but was immediately offered a $ 30 «yelp discount». That made the price reasonable. The service was very quick, simple and complete. I was pleasantly surprised. So go there, and ask for the « Unilocal discount». It works great!

Despite the frightening reviews, the guy I met with was fast, friendly, and offered a very cheap price.
Others must have dealt with separate reps. No problems here whatsoever!

I was greeted immediately by a friendly, conscientious guy. He helped me to fill out the form. They have a nice waiting room with free wi-​fi, tv, fresh coffee&tea, cold soda, snacks, comfy couches and foosball. They even have some treats for my puppy dog :)) Their location is perfect, very very close to DMV. You can also have your lunch around, there are many good restaurants. The whole thing took me 15mins. I believe their price is so fair. I even checked other smog stores around but they have the best deal. I will be back to Time for smog check for the next time for sure, coz they gave me 30 $ off coupon for the next time :))) i was totally won over by the fast&friendly service! Awesome place. Pinar is so sweet. Go there. They are cool. Took care of me quickly. Really nice people. And they have a nice room for you to wait for your car. Coffee, tea, snacks, and a Foosball table.

It took about 30 minutes for the check and with there is Unilocal $ 30 off coupon if you check in. Cant beat that.
They also have a pretty nice waiting room with complementary snacks, drinks, and wireless and a comfy couch. Hell yeah
