Specific Chiropractic helps with a variety of health conditions by restoring function to the nervous system. The nervous system is the master control system of the body, and when it’s not functioning right because of interference from physical, chemical and emotional stressors, health problems can arise. We specialize it detecting and correcting nerve interference so that patients’ are able to heal and be well!

History

Established in 2007.

The Specific Chiropractic Center (TSCC) in Oakland was opened by Dr. Lauren Clum in the fall of 2007 to serve the East Bay. Dr. Mariza Snyder joined the practice in the fall of 2009.

The original TSCC is in Dublin, and there are additional offices in Daly City, Livermore, Elk Grove, Chico, Draper, UT and Scarborough, ME.

Dr. Lauren Clum and Dr. Mariza Snyder are passionate chiropractors dedicated to helping their patients and community to understand the amazing healing capacity of the human body. They empower their patients to make positive health and life choices by hosting a variety of Wellness Workshops each month to help guide and encourage all involved. Both doctors graduated from Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward.

Dr. Lauren knew in high school that she wanted to be a chiropractor, and received her undergraduate degree in business administration from Sonoma State University before attending Life West.

Dr. Mariza decided that chiropractic was her calling after upper cervical chiropractic helped her heal from migraines that she’d been having since age 7. She resigned her acceptance to UC Davis Medical School in order to attend Life West, after receiving her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Mills College in Oakland.

any feedback from anyone who has experienced negative reactions to clums method of upper cervical manipulation?
i am still suffering from hearing loss in left ear as well as annoying tenitius. same side she adjusted two years ago. i have learned to live with it. but not without resentment that clum gets to keep on practicing.

I love Dr. Lauren! I’ve been seeing her for almost two years now, and my neck and shoulder pain — and my migraines — are almost completely gone now. I used to have routine and severe neck and shoulder pain that would limit my movement. I also used to get migraines at least once a month. With Dr. Lauren’s careful adjustments, I rarely have stiffness and only have gotten one or two true migraines since I started seeing her. I’ve learned so much about my own health and body from her, and I completely trust her medical opinion. I’m so glad I found her!

Let me start by saying, I’ve had my fare share of experiences with chiropractors over the last 10 years and have never felt a difference in my extreme back pain.
Dr. Clum and the Specific Chiropractic center changed my life. With their simple techniques and ridiculously comfortable resting chairs, my back pain has lessened a good 75%.
Seriously.
I love knowing that I’m not stuck in brutal pain for the rest of my life and it’s because of Dr. Clum.

What makes this center so great is that they provide a holistic combo of professionalism, friendliness and a diverse staff reflective of our world. Not only will you get a thorough explanation of how chiropractic care benefits your whole body, but you will also feel welcomed, listened to and well taken care of! Massage therapists are naturally talented and responsive to concerns. They just added a bilingual chiropractor too. Excellent care within reasonable prices and various package options.

Didn’t think a chiropractor could help my leg pain, but Dr. Clum has been wonderful. Every adjustment I am feeling better & in less pain. Love the relaxing chairs and the wonderful, cozy blankets! I would highly recommend Dr. Clum and Specific Chiropractic Center. I’m a fan!

I visited Specific Chiropractic based on a Living Social deal for a massage. Massages are personal, no one masseuse will please everyone, but Sharon Oshitz is someone that I can recommend. Excellent, good technique, and is NOT a chatter box, thus letting me relax and enjoy a great massage.

Love the new location! They are now located in Suite 101 which is just straight back instead upstairs. Dr. Lauren made some awesome upgrades and it feels even more of a healing space.

I started seeing Dr. Lauren Clum late last year after a car accident left me with serious back and neck pain, such that I couldn’t even turn my head without my neck killing me. Dr. Lauren’s intake included taking x-​rays onsite and a lengthy physical, and she declined to give me an adjustment until my second appointment. I appreciate her wait-​and-​see, minimalist approach, versus the crack-​everything approach, because I’d hate to be negatively affected by an unnecessary adjustment.
Suffice to say, that while I am still not 100% and continue to undergo treatment, I am in far better shape now than I was when I first went in. (And yes, I can turn my head without pain!) Thanks Dr. Lauren!

Dr. Lauren Clum is AMAZING! I came here because I was having pain when I would breathe. It only took one adjustment to fix this! But of more importance is the herniation of my L4 that happened three years prior to visiting Dr. Clum. In the three year before finding her I had tried every single treatment I could think of, acupuncture, physical therapy, strength training, yoga, a chiropractor that would adjust my entire back, pain medications, etc. Nothing worked, and I had given up hope of ever feeling 100% healthy, and just endured the daily pain I had.
When I went to Dr. Clum the thought of her helping with my L4 pain didn’t even cross my mind, as I had already tried a chiropractor. Boy was I wrong! In less than six months my lower back pain was completely alleviated! GONE!!! I was suddenly able to run again, lift weights, and carry bags around without excruciating pain. I now feel like I am the healthy 30 year old I should be, instead of feeling like I was 70 every time I moved around.
Words can not express the gratitude I have for her giving me my active lifestyle back. She is an amazing and wonderful woman. I have learned so much from her, and would recommend her to anyone without hesitation.

Please know this is not the traditional «snap, crackle and pop» chiropractic center and boy-​oh-​boy am I glad for that! The health assessment, plan for improvement, knowledge/​awareness and top rate treatment all patients receive earns this a 5-​star rating. I have been a patient for about two years (not out of necessity, but for overall wellness). From the first time I was introduced to The Specific Chiropractic Center the staff and environment have been warm, welcoming and personable. The team at Specific has been very helpful during a time of stress and chronic back pain. I have received comprehensive exams with modern equipment for more than 1 year. The Center has digital equipment, which I’ve heard is safer and more accurate. I get exams from Dr. Lauren Clum. During each exam, she shares with me the details of my progress which is motivating. I can’t say enough good things about the quality of doctors working in this office. Both women are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. They take the time to treat you holistically and with lots of attention to detail. I saw Dr. Clum for months before I moved away and she helped me tremendously with my neck pain and asthma. Anything you are suffering from that you think upper cervical care is not able to help, think again. It’s amazing people like this who change lives everyday for the better. They recognized that this profession is one that allows individuals to function at their fullest potential.

Boy am I sure glad I ran into The Specific. Although Dr. Mariza Snyder is no longer at the office, both she and Dr. Lauren Clum were fantastic to work with. I first met them when I was on crutches from a lower back and neck injury due to a snowboarding accident. It was fate. When I began seeing them as a patient, they took their time to explain how upper cervical chiropractic care works, explained my scans, and never rushed through any appointment. After being treated for several months, my scans became considerably better and I was off the crutches and feeling better! Also have to mention that after an adjustment, you also get to relax in amazing chairs. I admit to taking a few cat naps on those chairs…
One of the most admirable values of Dr. Clum and Dr. Snyder is that they truly care for the overall health of their patients. They know that patients cannot feel ultimately better if they are leading an unhealthy lifestyle, so they have great recommendations and suggestions on how to make slight changes to one’s daily bad habits. Today, I have the honor of collaborating with Dr. Lauren Clum and Dr. Mariza Snyder in the creation of a cookbook based on the DASH Diet. It is always a pleasure seeing and working with them, inside and outside the office.

I love these ladies. I went in there with some bad sciatica and within a couple weeks I was feeling much better. I saw them for almost a year altogether — at first, twice a week, then once a week, then once every two weeks, then once a month. They gave me a great discount first because I’m a student and then because I paid for all planned appointments in full. They’re really friendly and after a while I started to think of them as friends because they really seemed to care about me and my life, not just what was going on with my body.
The adjustments are a little painful and uncomfortable, but then you get to go sit in a Perfect Chair in a quiet room, and they cover you with a blanket… oh man. I pretty much fell asleep every time. They have fun events too, and they even wrote a book on nutrition, which I bought. Overall, I like to recommend them to people because they really helped me. I stopped seeing them almost a year ago and my sciatica hasn’t come back.

I am so grateful to know people in the right places at the right time. Dr Lauren is a friend of mine who I went to high school with and known about her office and her chiropractic services for quite some. This time, I had to go in due to an injury in my neck/​shoulder area.
Without hesitation, she was able to see me and help me learn about what was going on and wrong with my injury. She treated me as a patient first then as a friend which I truly respect and admire of her doing.
When it came to learn about my injury and what I needed to learn and do moving forward, she was able to help me understand in plain english. not in medical terms.
Shortly after my first adjustment, I began to feel extremely comfortable with my injury and
They go beyond and above to see whats wrong, know whats wrong and to do whats right. They do more than any hospital/​clinic doctor could ever do and I appreciate Dr. Lauren and Dr. Mariza so much for what they’ve done for me.

Drs. Mariza and Lauren are fantastic! I could tell from the start that they really cared about my overall health and not just my symptoms. Since I’ve been a patient there, I’ve been feeling healthier than ever! I have more energy, less (if any) headaches, and the aches in my neck and back are gone. Woo hoo!
The initial exam is very thorough and they explain things along the way. They have x-​rays in-​house, so I didn’t have to make another appointment elsewhere, which is very helpful and convenient. Then they check to see if you actually need to be adjusted, which is what makes them special. They don’t adjust you unless you actually need it!
An added bonus is that they also regularly provide classes for their patients and the community about how to live healthier lives. I’ve been to a few of these and have always learned a lot of useful and interesting things.
