This truck was parked at the College Of Alameda in the courtyard of the campus. It is cheap and tasty.

Taco truckadero tour continues … Came here for a late(2:40PM) lunch on Tuesday. $ 1.25 per taco … so for less than $ 8.00, got lunch for both me and Fred. Relatively speaking — this one is pretty good … and I don’t mean that my standards are lower b/c it’s so cheap … I mean, it’s really good AND it’s cheap. Hard to rank them … but I would say: 1) Carnitas — lots of flavor, not dried out. 2) Pollo 3) Carne Asada I would definitely get all 3 again next time I visit. Get your own limes though … the ones they provided were all dried out.

After many futile attempts to find food in Oakland past 2am, we happened upon Tacos El Pollo on the corner of Broadway and 9th in downtown Oakland. They were still open and cooking shortly after 3am. I quickly ordered for our group, two tacos, 3 burritos, a Jarritos and enough peppers, carrots, and radishes to feed a small army. All of this ended up costing barely over $ 20. So far so good. The food came up remarkably quick, and we proceeded to devour our food. It was darn tasty at 3am, and the leftovers were equally as tasty the day after. I am thoroughly impressed with their level of service(they were sweeping the area once done with service) their quality of food, and their prices. Their salsas were spicy and flavorful, their carnitas was tender, and flavorful, and their carne asada tacos were delicious. The Super Burrito($ 5) was gigantic, it did have rice and pinto beans, but in a proper ratio, with an equal amount of meat. The veggies inside the burrito and on the side were fresh and crisp. I will most certainly patronize this truck whenever and wherever I might find it. And to anyone who thinks that 5 stars is too much, remember this is a taco truck, not fine dining. Value of the food was fantastic, service was excellent, and the food tasted genuinely great. If you beg to differ, find me a better taco truck at 3am on a Sunday morning, and I will compare.

I usually don’t order chicken tacos, but it’s in the name of this taco truck, so it only felt right. I’ve passed by this Chevron gas station where Tacos El Pollo is loacated, and I finally stopped by to try it out. Out of my three taco sampler($ 1.25 ea.) of asada, pastor and pollo, the chicken was the best. I’ll pass on the other two meat choices the next time around. Things to try on my next trip: 1. Regular Burrito($ 3.50) 2. Super Burrito($ 5.00) 3. Breakfast Burrito
