Technician, Scott knows the systems like the back of his hand. Not only has he perfected his craft, he is also personable and patient, the consummate professional!
Cameron, the newest member of the team has only been at our site a few times, we are confident in his ability and have been pleased with his work.

Manage an apartment bldg. with an old, outdated intercom. Started experiencing major surge (power) problems during an on-​going, seismic upgrade project. I might add that this is the first time our 90 year-​old bldg. has gone through any kind of major upgrade, so anything can happen. The intercom manufacturer, based in SoCal, could only help via phone, so we called Sound and Scott came out to survey the problem. It took 2 visits as we began to understand the complexities of an old system, whose parts are no longer available, and, after installing a new memory chip and upgraded surge protector, and another part I can’t even remember, all while on the phone with the manufacturer walking him through the inner workings of the system, Scott got our intercom to work as good as new. I can see a new system over the horizon once the seismic work is done. However, had Scott not had the technical know-​how, experience, and patience in dealing with all of this, I doubt our intercom would be working, period. Since I don’t see vendor invoices, which go to the office, I can’t comment on price (s). However, everyone at Sound, the phone receptionist and Scott in particular, deserve major kudos. Thank you!

Fast — Intelligent — reasonable price — Explains all that he did… and he did fix the unit quickly and we hired 2 other companies that couldn’t… What more can i say…

I am a property owner who desperately needed an intercom in my apartment building. Jerry came out, gave a quote, ordered the equipment and installed it perfectly. I’ve never had a problem with it. He even suggested a system that would allow mail carriers to leave packages securely inside the building. Although he quoted me 2 – 3 hours for installation, he and a helper were in and out in an hour and half. Pleasantly surprised. The tenants are thrilled with the new system. They feel safe, and when UPS rings the door bell, they know their packages will be there.
I also feel that Jerry is very reasonable individual. You’ll like him.

I am an apartment manager and have had a good experience overall. I am giving 4 stars because Jerry is definitely experienced and can troubleshoot an existing intercom and did not try to ‘up’ sell me as one reviewer mentioned– although he was more than willing to give me an estimate if I wished. Quality of work is stellar.
I do believe that one area of improvement is communicating the costs and giving an estimate before the work begins. Possibly charging a flat fee for on site estimates would help so the customer understands the scope of the work and see if it is within budget. The work is not cheap and prices reflect that.
Note: As of 11-​29-​2012 they do not accept payment over the phone or accept credit cards but may accept them in the near future.

I have used Sound Communications for more than twenty (20) years. They have installed many intercom systems and maintained them during this time period. They have also installed many mailbox systems as well. We have been very pleased with the service and the quality of the equipment that Sound has used at our commercial properties. I strongly recommend using Sound Communications for your intercom and mailbox needs.

There should be minus stars for this company. I had them come out for a simple repair. The technician claimed it could not be done and tried to hard sell me a new intercom at a considerable cost. I called another company and they did the repair n ten minutes. A complete scam. Stay away!

I have worked with Sound Communication Systems for over 10 years. They were great in the beginning, but service has declined lately and I will be looking for another vendor.
On a recent project, my on-​site manager described the problem and requested a technician to service the problem. The technician arrived, spent some time checking it out, and agreed with my manager about the source of the problem, but that he couldn’t fix it. The technician had to call in someone else to repair the problem. We were then charged the full rate for both technicians. Really? SCS were the ones who screwed up by sending the wrong guy, and I have to pay for it?
If you are an apartment manager, and not spending your own money, I guess these guys can be pretty good. But if you are a property owner and tired of being over-​charged, then I would avoid these guys.

Recently the intercom system went out in the apartment complex that we manage in San Francisco. My husband, David, has used SCS in the past and highly recommended them to the property management company we currently work for. After the contract was signed, I heard from their office informing me of the things they needed on my end to get the ball rolling. They had to order a few parts, and kept me in the loop throughout the process.
After the parts came in, I got both email and phone correspondence, from John, to schedule the installation. The vendor, Scott, showed up on time as scheduled and worked diligently through the day. Unable to complete the job due to complications, he came back the next day, on time, with his boss, Jerry to finish the job. Working hard to fix the issues, they didn’t leave until they were certain everything was at 100%.
During the installation, we ran in to a bidding issue that required more paperwork. I called their office, and received more stellar service. The woman who answered the phone, Jane, was so friendly and helpful. She understood exactly what I was asking for and took care of it promptly.
In a world where stellar service like this is hard to find, I had to take the time to write a high recommendation for them. I deal with vendors and companies like SCS on a daily basis and it is rare that you find a company who is so attentive from the start of the job to the finish. It was very refreshing and appreciated!
