Awful Shopping experience in many respects:
–the store looks ABANDONED.
–inside is MESSY,
–the aisles are totally cluttered, and at some points almost impassible
–the clerks I dealt with were neither knowledgeable nor helpful
IN SUMMARY: I would not go inside this store again.

This was a good store to shop close to my office until Sears ownership decided to sell and close the store. I repeat this location is CLOSED

Okay for people that are okay with ghetto and hipsters. I will miss this store. Store closing. I used tk loves coming here after going to china town in oakland

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR ONLINE ORDER PICK-​UP.
I purchased some Craftsman tools online for pick-​up at the Broadway store since it was close to my workplace. During lunch, I walked over to the store and asked a worker upon entering the location for pickup of online orders. She pointed to the Customer Service sign and for me to go up the stairs. There, a worker entered the information from my pick-​up receipt in the system and in about 2 minutes, a worked brought out my order, bagged it and I was on my way.
My last couple of purchases have been online and this was my first pickup from the Broadway store. It was fast, efficient and I was very satisfied.
A note: This Sears store is closing by the end of summer. It doesn’t surprise me since this large store lacks customer traffic in all the times that I’ve been there. Could be a combination of location and bad customer service that fellow Unilocalers have Unilocaled about. Currently, everything is 30% off.

Its bittersweet to hear sears is closing, weve been coming here for years, r.i.p. sears, hella sales are bout to hit tho so get ready! They close doors at the end of summer.

Sears in Oakland is closing. They are having everything must go. Not sure when exactly they are closing.

Worst customer service I’ve seen. Spent 30 minutes waiting at the jewelry counter without even being acknowledged. I had to go find another representative to even get help. I will drive 20 miles to another place in the future and I live next door to this sears. Avoid at all costs. Horrible.

On Monday 6−2−14 approx. 315 PM at the Oakland, Ca. store. My wife TRIED TO pay, give money, SETTLE a debt that was owed to Sears. She had the proper account number. … BUT the personnel REFUSE TO ACCEPT PAYMENT !!! She had a valid debit card and a physical piece of
. check. They told her she needed to give them the physical credit card… WHAT MADNESS IS THIS ??? They will take our electronic info but not a physical documents.

Sears has been well known for the quality of their appliances. They’re getting even better known for the poor quality of their customer service, including delivery. No evening deliveries, in spite of the fact they advertise deliveries until 9 PM on their website.
Weekend deliveries for more… premium time!
They give you a two hour window the night before… automated, so if it doesn’t work… to bad or reschedule.
Where did they learn customer service? From the VA?

Sears gets points just for having a store in downtown Oakland. Yeah, that’s right I said downtown, not Uptown. (That was a geography lesson for all you hipster refugees).
The customer service can be hit or miss, but I like to having a department store on this side of the bay, and without have to drive to Walnut Creek. The selections are decent, and I have picked up some good values in the household dept.

I always seem to be able to find what I need at Sears. I send my local and out of town friends there and I can walk there from my house — it’s about 1.5 miles from home. My friend from NYC went there today and bought a shirt, jeans and a roller board suitcase all very reasonably priced. The salesclerk was friendly (and slow as usual but who cares, we got what we came for) and when I was looking for some tools, a salesman overheard me wondering where to find screwdrivers and took me there and helped me select a set! Go Sears, please Oaklanders patronize Sears — you won’t regret it!

I had a nightmare getting the proper service on my new refrigerator. I bought this appliance slightly over a year ago so naturally the warranty had expired. However, one expects an appliance to not fail so soon. It gets worse.
The first guy out told me I needed an $ 800 condenser. I got on the phone with customer service to complain that such a new appliance was failing (Maytag btw). That (can we swear on Unilocal?) guy told me IT WAS MY FAULT BECAUSE I DIDN’T BUY THE EXTENDED WARRENTY. Blame the customer if your merchandise is cr*p. Thanks, Sears, for your concern.
They scramble for the part and send another guy to install it. (I probably scared the first guy) The second guy actually knows what he is doing, and says I don’t need that at all, it is merely the icemaker that is broken. That was $ 150. And it fixed the problems.
This, along with past delivery problems with Sears has me swearing off future business with them. They used to be so reliable but they don’t really care about service anymore.

Sears and
have terrible customer service. Ordered an appliance for pick up by 11÷20÷13.
Wasn’t ready, no call or anything. Contractor went twice and got a lot of nothing from the pick up area. If they really cared, they would have picked up the phone and tried to call customer service to get an update. They didn’t.
I called
and they informed me the appliance is on backorder for a week. Would have been nice if they called me. They didn’t.
They couldn’t guarantee availability and wouldn’t waive the deliver charge for all the confusion. So I cancelled my order and got my appliance for $ 100 less and free delivery, all before their estimated, not firm date.
There is a reason why Sears are shuttering their doors across the nation.

Review is not for the defective merchandise I received, but the customer service. Pulling into the customer pick up was clutch (saves on street parking and it’s right next to the Sears sign on Broadway, props to the Unilocaler who gave the heads up on that, I missed it a few times but would have never known otherwise), and the reps inside were very friendly. The guy who brings it to your car was beyond helpful; he helped put this huge TV stand into my car without assistance and even refused the gracious tip I was willing to offer him. Shooting out of there is very fast too once you’re ready to go. Definitely exceeded my expectations (again, the service, not the product).

Pretty good deals. Not so great items. My boyfriend got a LED TV at a good price at the Tanforan location. I’ve bought some clothes as gifts at a good deal here. Good customer service at the appliance section & TV section. This place is not a Bloomingdales or Nordstroms, so don’t expect it to be high quality. Parking may seem to be a problem here. Hey, it’s downtown. I work a couple blocks away and it’s easy to walk to. The building exterior is nice at this location.

If I could give this store zero stars I would.
Never purchase anything from here. They have the worst possible customer service I can think of. I ordered a dryer online and was told my roommate can pick it up. When he went they wouldn’t let him pick it up without my cc. I talked with the manager and she said there was nothing I could do. I am leaving during work to pick this dryer up. They wouldn’t even take any cc or identification over the phone from me. They were very rude to my roommate, and I wish nobody to ever work here and be under that tyranny of management. I hope that you choose any other major appliance store to buy anything you need. Worst Management (especially the appliance department. I don’t know her name).

Great location and i actually like the product (s)…
JUST really bad, bad, bad service. SO if you can avoid dealing with the employees which isn’t that hard cause they don’t want to be bothered so they are no where to be found sadly and when you do be prepared they are horrid, mean rude eye rollin 12 year olds.
As for quality i like their vacuum’s and electronics also they have a area where i get my watch batteries and bands.
Appliances is where i get the most help.

I had some time to kill and thought I would check out Sears. It was a week night around 5:30PM.
Wow it is a huge store! Not at all like the Sears at Southland or Stoneridge. I stayed on the bottom floor which had men’s and women’s clothing, perfume, jewelry and accessories. The clothing choices weren’t my taste so I found myself in the men’s hat area. I’m a sucker for a fedora hat. That is where the hub found me trying on hats. And of course the one I chose didn’t have a tag on it. I flagged down an employee she said to take another similar hat to the checkout for it to be used.
There are two checkout areas but only one was open with two employees helping customers. With two people ahead of me I waited in line for about 15 minutes. When the female employee was ready she let me know and greeted me. I explained why I brought up the other hat and the situation. She stepped away and went to a computer to search for the hat on their website. She was gone about 5 minutes and came back with no results. She charge me a fair price since we didn’t know how much it was. She apologized for taking awhile. I told her it wasn’t her fault and not to worry. I paid and walked about with my new black fedora.
Gosh now I hope it wasn’t someone else’s! haha just kidding, it was brand new.
The employees were helpful and nice, clothing choices were lacking and the displays were messy. The wait to checkout was long so don’t plan on getting out of here quickly.

There are three reasons to come to Sears:
1) tools,
2) the wacky «As Seen On TV» items,
3) you have no clean clothes in your closet and you’re desperate!
Even the appliances ain’t what they used to be. Nice sales people here at least, if you can find them.

Sears clothing department: Where fashion’s rejects come to die.
Case in point — they sell flourescent pink jeans here. Stretchy ones. The idea of someone actually wearing these in public makes my imagination hurt.
For women, your choices are: tacky, stretchy hoochie clothes, OR old-​lady clothes with shoulder pads. Isn’t there an in-​between stage? I’ve worn my share of hoochie gear, but I’m far too young and stylish for oversized shoulder pads. Whoever does their purchasing here must have flunked out of FIDM.
Why was I here, you ask? I was early meeting my girlfriends for happy hour this Friday, and Sears offered a refuge from the weirdos at the 19^th Street BART Station until they were able to pick me up. On a positive note, they carry more jeggings here than I’ve ever seen in one place. It must be all that Oakland booty they have to clothe. I know all about that. Jeggings can be a godsend to girls with Kardashian butts. Alas, most of the jeggings had rhinestones, so I convinced myself I was too old for rhinestones.
And finding a staff member is nearly impossible. The few they do have are busy laughing and joking with one another, and I didn’t want to interrupt their socializing with a work-​related question. I eventually found the dressing room myself, nestled under a giant security camera.
Bottom line: Sears is the perfect place to shop for clothes for people you don’t like.
