Raymond’s Custom Framing

Lovely people, and very reasonable prices. The couple that run this place are really sweet — he does the framing and she serves the customers. Her advice was spot on each time and very helpful — opinionated in a good way! — she clearly has loads of experience and knows what will look right.
We’ve had 3 prints framed here so far, and the framing transformed all of them so much that we’re looking around for more. Now we know how much difference a well-​chosen custom frame makes (and the affordable price), I’m sure we’ll be back soon!

Went in and needed some hooks for my grandmas picture frame. The lady there was super helpful and sweet! If I ever need anything for pictures or frames I know where to go!

These folks were fast, friendly and efficient! Great pricing and great selection of frames and mats! I will definitely use them again!

I went in to Raymond’s in search of a second opinion. I had a frame and a canvas, I just needed it stretched and to have hangers placed on the frame. When I got a quote at Michael’s, they told me it was going to be $ 100. That was just ridiculous, I couldn’t believe it!
So I found this tiny little shop. It’s in the Laurel District (adorable neighborhood!), tucked between a couple of other businesses, so it’s tough to spot at first. They also keep their door locked (smart!) so just use the buzzer and they’ll come open up for you.
They charged me $ 25 and did excellent work. I had my lovely framed canvas in a few days and spent way less than I would have at the other place. I’m so happy I found them!!!
There’s free parking about half a block away on a side street. Otherwise, you have to pay the old school coin meters out front.
No credit cards!

Checked out Unilocal and, knowing I definitely needed a Sacred Heart poster framed, came in for a quote. Shirley was so nice and PATIENT… oh good Lord, she must’ve needed an Advil after first meeting me and my 1,000 questions, my indecision, my need to consult my mom before finally deciding on a frame and mat color. But it turned out beautifully. So much so that a week later I came back with an old calendar printed on a polyester woven fabric. Once again, she dealt with my 2,000 questions, indecision, my thinking I know better… and she addressed all my issues with patience, knowledge and reassurance. She helped me pick out the right mat and even talked me out of doing a double mat — even though it would’ve meant more money for her — because it would not have suited the color rich massive art I went there to get framed. And when I wanted a quote on another — even bigger — poster for framing, she examined it and was honest in letting me know it was something that she and her husband Ming could not do because the slick texture of the paper would not have adhered to the mount properly and would fall out of frame over time. What honesty and integrity!
And overall quality and value? I’m an absolute cheapskate but I skipped away happy. Really, their prices are fair and the quality of the work is superb. For both the Sacred Heart picture (about 18″ x 30″ with 1.5 inch mat border and intricate gold frame moulding) and the huge calendar cropped art (about 30“x55″ with 2 inch mat and thick, textured gold frame moulding), I paid about $ 200. That probably won’t cover two 8×10s at Aaron Brothers or Michael’s. Plus she didn’t nickel-​and-​dime me for the intricate cropping they had to do to cut the calendar and get the main picture. Totally worth driving from Vallejo for.

What can I say? I absolutely love this place. Run by an old Chinese couple so it is a pretty small and shabby place, but the two definitely have an eye for framing. I got two mounts, a large 22×45″ frame, and a frame with mat on an embroidery.
Mind you, these altogether would’ve cost me around $ 1200 at Michael’s, JoAnn’s, or Aaron Brothers (even with their 50% off sale, $ 600). At Raymond’s, I got everything done in a week and for only $ 180. With glass and everything!

I will be coming back here to frame literally everything in my house that needs to be custom framed.

If you have a cheap poster for a dorm room or kitchen, this is the place. Nice people,
great pricing. However if you have a quality photo or lithograph or anything else you want nicely displayed, look elsewhere.
Here’s why; They only have the thinnest of 2 ply mats, and none even bevel cut. They will NOT order 8 ply mat, much less 4 ply, or even let you bring yours in, they claim they cannot cut it. I have the most basic of DIY mat cutters, it WILL cut 8 ply, easily.
They do not have any museum glass, or even non-​glare, just clear-​vue conservation glass and regular glass. This will protect your work but not look great. Take a look at their store front examples, they are all horribly faded, they did not even use the conservation clear-​vue on their store front pieces that should lure you into the store. Big clue as to their market.
They would NOT allow me to order museum glass myself and bring it in, the lady stated she was afraid they would make a mistake, and lose money. At least she was honest! But a «custom frame shop» should be able to cut glass, period. It’s
not that hard if you have the right tools.
They also had the smallest choice of frames to choose from, each one I want was «discontinued» and they only had enough for ONE piece, and could not get more for the three pieces I wanted framed. They had nothing else suitable for what I wanted framed.
In the end, I feel they are not a «custom» shop at all. They were half the price of other quotes I obtained, but of course with far cheaper materials that would just plain look cheap. I guess you do get what you pay for,
If you want something framed that is basically a cheap poster or vacation snapshot, this is the place. If you anything at all special and want to show it off,
in your living room, look elsewhere.
I would give them one star as a «custom» shop, three star as a frame shop (limited choice of frames, mat and glass. Hence my 2 stars.

Raymond’s is the best! Once you come here you won’t ever go to another frame shop again. They have a wonderful eye for what works with each piece and give great advice. They are extremely reasonable and nice to work with. I highly recommend you try them out next time you have something to be framed.

A few years ago, I paid a ton of money to get framing done at Michael’s. Even at 60% off, it was way too expensive. A friend told me about Raymond’s Custom Framing. I have been going there as well as sending my customers ti them. If you want fairly simple framing at low prices… this is the place!!!

I have been coming to Raymond’s for years. their work is superb and their prices are unbeatable. They do the framing themselves, they consult with you and give you advice and as I said, they are very very reasonable!
