Nothing negative to say about this business! Customer service over the phone was truly amazing. Bridget was very helpful and accommodating. I took and completed the Neonatal Resuscitation Program. Shirin the NRP instructor was very pleasant and warm. She answered all the questions that I missed on the online portion of the exam and gave me rationales for each. She provided lots of information and positive feedback. She very sweet upon correcting our techniques when demonstrating interventions! Am so pleased that I decided to take this class at Project Heartbeat! I will definitely be back to renew here for any of my certification needs. I would recommend this establishment for any certification needs to my family and friends! Check out their website they offer many classes!

Great setting to facilitate learning. Not one of those overcrowded BLS classes! David K. knows his stuff and was very knowledgeable and very patient! I would recommend the EKG Recognition and the 12 Lead Recognition class to anyone!

I took the Advanced 12 lead ECG course here and absolutely loved it! The instructor David was extremely knowledgable and provided a great learning experience for me. I would 100% recommend this course to anyone seeking the certifications that they offer.

I took PALS and ACLS both with Jeff and I seriously will never go anywhere else for my renewals… he makes everything so simple to understand and remember. I was so scared to take ACLS but he made this class fun. I also like that he checks in with everyone to make sure we’re all on the same page. Jeff taught us how to recognize heart blocks in less than 5 min in a way that’s easy to remember. I definitely will be recommending Project Heartbeat to my friends that need recertification.

Jeff is a rock star. ACLS & BCLS renewal was a breeze. I didn’t even need coffee! I did the BCLS portion online and when I came in for the skills, I was in & out in too few minutes to even count.

Location: nicer area of Oakland, coming from the south I had to take 880 which can be really trafficky. The building is right off the freeway though which is nice
Instructor/​Class: I had Shirin as an instructor for the NRP class. She was FANTASTIC! We were a group of 5 students ranging from no experience (me) to 22 years experience. I never felt dumb for my lack of knowledge or questions I asked. From the beginning of class she had us all up practicing skills. She made sure each one of us got a chance to play in each role for the mock code. The class was exciting and the 2 hours flew by. I would highly recommend her for your NRP. She is obviously very knowledgable about the subject matter and truly wants you to learn the skills so you can use it in your workplace.

I generally prefer a BLS class that is closer to home, living on the peninsula. But I waited until the last week to renew this time which limited my options.
Found the class online for August 31^st. Was able to do the online course and test, leaving only the in-​person skills check. The online course was straightforward, easy to do except I had an outdated Adobe Flash Player.
The location of my skills check was easier than I expected, right off 880 towards the Oakland airport. Easy parking, the building was easy to find and on the 8^th floor, it was a beautiful day too — very nice view from the classroom!
My instructor was Eric, he was very nice and told me to relaxxx, lol. I was running late, and unsure of my location but everything worked out. I passed, and don’t have to worry about being put on admin leave for not having my BLS! :)
I will probably go to Project Heartbeat for my other certifications.

Good class with a good instructor. The instructor Jeff O’Connell was very knowledgable and made the class enjoyable. Refreshers are always tough but Jeff made it bearable. I would recommend the acls/​pals class to anyone who is up for a refresher.

Jeff, (with a J, NOT a G) made the class easy and fun.
Running mock codes and interpreting EKGs over and over again was actually bearable.
Not to mention the view from the classroom on the 8^th floor was beautiful.
Small class size, prompt, quick and painless.
Would definitely recommend!

Just got my initial ACLS certification and really have to say many thanks to Jeff for doing just a great job!!! The class was very straightforward and well organized. I was very anxious going into this course and Jeff made it fun while presenting the material in a way that was easy to understand. Many thanks to Jeff and Project Heartbeat, now my go-​to place for ACLS certification!

The Project Heartbeat staff made special arrangements for our BSN class to come and take an ACLS class and a PALS class a few weeks later. Their staff worked well with us! Our teacher, Jeff O’Connell mad learning fun and interesting! He talked about his own experiences out in the field as a paramedic and brought them to our class so we could understand better. The pre test is very intimidating but after taking his class you can pass the test with confidence knowing that you can go out there and safe a life!
Thanks Jeff for an outstanding and memorable experience! Our entire class is grateful for your professionalism and expertise! We look forward to coming back in 2 years to renew our skills with you! I strongly recommend PHB to anyone who needs to get certified in their life saving skills!

I just finished my BLS/​ACLS renewal course. In 09 I took my first class with Alan — awesome! I had to try my hospital’s CE center for the next renewal — not so awesome. Back to project heartbeat for the next one with Raven — damn they just get better! And then today with Jeff — friggin fantastic! I love project heartbeat and will not go any where else if I can help it.
The classes are fun.
The content is taught in simple terms, analogies, mnemonics, etc.
It always feels like a safe learning environment.

I recently did my PALS certification here, and overall had a really good experience here. We had different lead instructors, I can’t remember names but one was great and the other good (the better of the two is more commonly the lead, from what other students said). They provide lots of good knowledge, including both real-​life experiences as well as up-​to-​date research rationales. I really appreciate this, and is why I prefer in-​person classes over the online option. They also had an additional instructor (can’t remember her name, but she’s a critical care RN) and she also had great insight and led my small group in our practice codes.
The facility is nice, bathrooms down the hall, plenty of free parking in the lot. Great variety of lunch spots nearby (Chipotle, In-​n-​Out, Subway, amongst others). It is just off the 880 freeway, and the class started just after AM traffic, and ended just before PM traffic — a big plus!
The cost is typical of other ACLS/​PALS places in the area. We had the standard equipment (mannequins, AEDs, respirators, etc). I heard they use iPads for ACLS codes, would have been nice to use those for the cardiac codes in PALS, but since there’s often non-​cardiogenic issues underlying it I can see why they opt not to use the heart monitor apps.
Overall I would recommend this place for your PALS (haven’t done other certs there, but I’m told their also good for TNCC and ACLS).

Such a good place to take classes! These people actually practice what they teach. It’s a very laid back atmosphere that really lets you learn. The mega codes are great because they treat them like a real code (I.e. You have help). You get to feel what it’s like to ask strangers for help and it forces you to critically think. Great classes!

I’ve done my BLS here three times and my ACLS here once (completed earlier today), and I’ll never go anywhere else.
The instructors were very helpful and very patient. Everyone gets to participate in doing a code so you won’t be left out, which is important if you work at an emergency/​ICU/​trauma center or happen to be a good samaritan trying to save someone’s life.
Even if you’re not in healthcare, taking a general BLS/​CPR class is great knowledge to have and is analogous to learning how to fish or how to pitch a tent when you’re camping.
Many of the people who are here are either EMTs/​paramedics or RN’s who share their knowledge on how to save lives. The place is very close to the BART station in Oakland so there’s no problem taking public transportation. Great experience — I will come back here as I’ve been going back here since 2010.

Took my PALS and added BLS with Jeff and I must say he has been the best instructor I’ve encountered in my 10+ years of emergency nursing. Every two years I dread having to recertify all my licenses because the classes are often boring and stressful when it comes to the megacode. Jeff made the class fun and stress free with his laid back style. Everything about Jeff reminded me of Matthew McConaughey… so just picture that! I will be back soon to recert my ACLS and I hope the instructor will be just as cool.

The last class I took was 6 years ago and I will not go back again. I was belittled by the paramedic who was supervising a mega code. I felt ashamed and embarrassed.
I didn’t write this review until now, B/​C I JUST FOUND OUT THAT IT HAS HAPPENED TO SOMEONE ELSE WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS. These paramedics that are running the mega codes need a reality check and not an ego boost.
I gave this review a 2-​star out of respect to Alan & Josh. I remember when they where the only instructors and they had explained everything at a nursing student level, b/​c they were linked with the local JC.
They understood that mega codes where run as a team effort in the hospital setting, and not from a paramedics point of view.

I completed ACLS training on 3÷30−31. And what a great experience it was! I was nervous because I am a nursing student and felt I’d be lost, but I was wrong. All the staff were extremely friendly & taught the course in an easily understood way. Josh taught the theory portion on Friday which was interesting & informative: lots of humor!
Saturday was a blast as we actually ran multiple megacodes. My group leader was Todd. He was hilarious & full of great stories and experience.
I will definitely use Project Heartbeat for all my certs and recerts.

Recently discovered this facility they offer various continuing education classes! I took the basic and advance EKG courses. The instructors made the class super fun, enjoyable, and stress free! Since most of the instructors are fellow nurses, the thought of logic was easy to follow!
Learned a lot in few days Allan’s teaching style is very unique, engaging, and easy to understand. I appreciate the 1 on 1 practicals, it helped me thoroughly understand and gave me confidence identifying various things on a EKG, 12-​Lead Strips!
I am looking forward coming back to this facility! to renew my BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification! Hopefully I’ll get a chance to do the NRP certification soon and will update my review then!

I took an ACLS class and the skills portion of a BLS online hybrid class w/​Project Heartbeat. The classes were arranged especially for my 35 classmates, so they were held at our campus rather than at the Project Heartbeat facility. Because there were so many of us, we were able to get a discount.
Our instructors were Allan, Raven, Eric, and Alex. They were all awesome. Allan is a really engaging teacher, and they broke down the material to make it easy to remember the key concepts. It was a combination of videos, live instruction, practice scenarios, and review. The instructors were all really invested in helping us succeed so that we could pass & get our BLS and ACLS certifications.
Highly recommended.
