Premium Tattoo

Heyooo, i got my first tattoo at last! I was definitely a bit nervous and scared. I had set up an appointment with Lawrence Edward through email very quickly. This is my first again, so I didn’t even know what to expect but woo, everyone’s really nice in there so made it easier. Lawrence Edward is incredibly easy-​going and made the whole process easy peasy. But most importantly, I came out with a better tattoo that I would have imagined. Very happy. I would post a better pic of mine but he has a much better quality pic on his ig @ledwardstattoo

One of the worst experience I ever had. Originally my appointment was suppose to be with Matt at 2 pm. I lost my driver license and had I drive home to get my passport and they said it was fine I’ll get my tattoo regardless. I came back around 2:30 pm. I don’t know the name of my artist but she was new to the place. I waited for about 2 hours plus and she kept sketching back and forth. I was going to walk out but then I felt so bad for her. I work in customer service I know how frustrating it can be when someone walks out on you but the it became kind of ridiculous when Matt finished up a customer when came in after me when she did a small art piece and all I wanted was Roman numerals and my parents name in a thin cursive form.
She sketched it so many times that somewhere along the way she misspelled my moms last name that I didn’t even notice cause I was pissed off at waiting for so long. I just wanted to get out of there … My tattoo was nothing complicated … It was of course partially my fault was not noticing it but my mind was so out of place yesterday that I myself just didn’t even notice the misspelling… All i know is that I spelled it right the first time with my sister there to watch and she misspelled it along the way of sketching it over about 4 to 6 times… I literally didn’t notice it til my boyfriend pointed it out. This tattoo was meant for parents and because of my frustration with the long wait and the artist carelessness my mom name was misspelled .
And the fact that I wait 2 hours while the artist only took about 45 to 50 min to finish shows how simple the tattoo actually was. I understand it was her first day there but someone could have stepped in if they saw me sitting there for that long to help her out… I will never come back here again.

Definitely check this small studio out! My wife and I went in on 1−15−16 and both got tattoos… my wife’s was fast and turned out exactly as she wanted! My tattoo was originally quoted in black and white only and Danielle was able to do it in full color for the same as what I was quoted for black and white! And Danielle Silva nailed the tat perfectly… the detail, the color… everything! A++++ in my book… highly recommended!!! Had an idea for a bear on my arm and went in to originally see Brett, but he selflessly redirected me to Lawrence because he felt he would be able to capture my idea better. Lawrence was super helpful and walked me through what would be viable with the photos I had brought in. I had it done and I love the piece! These guys know what they are doing and are incredibly kind and accommodating. Definitely will come here again when I get the urge for another tatt.

I was looking for a professional tattoo artist who could do miracles. .I found it! !!!These are the most professional artists I have come across in a long time, Danielle is a sweetheart, she listens and does exactly what you want. Got my tattoo in memory of the loss of a grandchild and what I kind of envisioned she made a reality. Thank you Danielle, I week be back for more.

I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed getting tattooed yesterday at Premium Tattoo. My artist was Lawrence Edwards, who is a phenomenal talent and works insanely hard to create beautiful art. From the moment I stepped in the shop to when I left, I was immediately at ease. Everyone there is SO kind and welcoming, from reception to the artists. I haven’t stopped recommending this shop and Lawrence to anyone who’ll listen. This place is packed with talented, hard-​working artists who are some of the nicest humans you’ll meet.
Bottom line:
Go to there. Go to there right now.

Danielle did my tattoo and she went above and beyond my expectations! She has pierced me before, and she is extremely personable. I love my new tat!!!

This is my new favorite tattoo place, and Matty Gentz is my new favorite tattoo artist. He took my idea (a Day of the Dead kitty image I found on Pinterest) and helped me envision it as something fantastic that would work on the inside of my forearm. We did the initial tattoo about a month ago, and I went in for a touch up (free!) today to add some more white to a few areas. I love it! Matty’s work is crisp, and he likes old-​school designs.
The atmosphere in the shop is professional, but laid back and really friendly. I’ve had work done in other shops that ooze with attitude, and I didn’t feel that from any of the artists at Premium. They also seem to really enjoy working together, which makes it a nice place to hang out for a few hours.
Matty and I are already working on a new design that I’m going to get later this month. I can’t wait!

This review was truly long over due! Mad respect to the talented Brett who does amazing art work… I discovered this very shop while at the Apple Store several years ago. I spotted this girl about 50 ft away from me with this beautiful cherry blossom, I had to approach her and ask for the name of the artist. Long behold, I discovered it was Brett that was the mastermind and created this majestic looking tattoo. The process of booking can be a journey here at Premium Tattoo, they are quite busy and need advance booking early on… I finally had my artwork done and had one the best tattoo session there is with Brett. I love the fact that the shop is highly clean and sanitize, I feel well educated in the process in terms of what ink they’ve used and also what needles they work on to make perfect lining… of course those were questions that I had to ask and was surprise Brett was highly informative and you could tell he is pretty passionate about what he does. I love the fact that throughout my session he played classical music and I see him at his best and that makes me feel comfortable as his client and would recommend the guy to anyone whose looking for a solid artist.
I haven’t gotten anything new as of late because I am super busy… but I really hope to come back to this shop whenever I am in town and get more work done by Brett and also hope to get tattoo by Matt and Daniel!

Just check out the progress pics so far and let your jaw drop. He’s freaking talented!!! I can’t stop staring at it! The human eye/​lioness morph is messing with my mind! It’s crazy!!! We still need more sessions to finish but it’s an amazing start!!! I can’t believe that art is on MY body! Gonna be so bad ass (but also beautifully artistic) when finished! Brett Baumgart is an alien. Human beings just can’t be this amazing.

I got my first tattoo at Premium, with Matt Decker. I had seen tattoos on someone else, done by him, and liked the level of precision, detail, density, and refinement. I was not disappointed! My first experience was excellent. The shop is hygienic (important to me), and the people are friendly that work there. Matt is a very talented and careful artist and gave me exactly what I wanted. I am completely pleased! The aftercare instructions were very clear and easy to follow, and worked perfectly. I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend Matt and Premium to anyone desiring a tattoo.

I decided I want a random tattoo today and I found Premium tattoo through a Unilocal search. I called and asked if they had any walk in availability and I ended up talking to Matty. He gave me a bad ass Mickey Rat tattoo.
He made sure everything was very precise and fit perfectly where I wanted in on my arm. I absolutely love the new tattoo and I will definitely be back to Premium for another one when I get the money.

Went and got my first tattoo here when they were doing the fundraiser for the Cat Town Café. I love cats and the Cat Town Café so how could I not? I feel like I must have been the last ink free person in Oakland but there was nothing intimidating or weird attitude about this place at all. All super friendly people in this place who clearly love what they do — kudos to them for fundraising too. To me, it’s a good sign that it smelled of cleaning product when I went in and because I had a few minutes to wait before my appointment I got to witness the *very* thorough cleaning/​prep that goes in to setting up the work station.
Matt who did my little cat/​heart piece was really nice and sweet about it being my first tattoo and did an awesome job. Oh and it was fast. I now have ink! A really positive experience but the music a bit loud for my middle aged ears though :-)

Danielle was great! Consulted a little on the phone, made the appt and when I showed up she was professional and helpful. She changed the sketch a ton of times to get exact lettering I wanted and did a great job on the tattoo itself. It’s my 6^th one and my best experience so far. Highly recommend the shop and the artist.

Brett, Matt and Dani are all very professional. They have an inviting atmosphere that I had never experienced walking into other shops. Other shops were a bit rude, impatient and careless. Premium was the polar opposite. They also don’t give off that arrogant vibe that you may experience with other artists. Brett did my tattoo and it came out beautifully. He estimated the entire piece to be done in 3 hours tops but he only took 2. This guy is an artistic genius. I plan to get ALL my future tattoos done here by all the artists. I’ve heard some pretty whack tattoo-​scabbing-​healing after care stories but the aftercare advised by Premium is top notch. No scabs, no fading and no problems. I’ve already booked a couple more appointments. Thank you Premium tattoo!

Been planning out my portrait piece of Shane MacGowan from the Pogues for a few years now, decided to finally jump into actually getting it for myself for my birthday in March. Did some serious research for some time to find who would be the best to do the job, and I knew hands down it was Brett after seeing the Johhny Cash piece he did. I went in to slap down the deposit, did my eager three months of waiting, and walked in on Tuesday to watch him literally bring to life the face of my all time favorite musician on my skin. Even being familiar with his work, the result was more stunning than anything I could’ve imagined. Now, I’ve never gone to a shop that was «unfriendly» or «unprofessional», but Premium Tattoo really goes above and beyond. Brett was meticulous about making sure every detail of the portrait, be it size, shape, or composition was to my precise liking during my incredibly in depth consultation. He is a fucking wizard at what he does, and how much he clearly enjoys and cares about his work only makes you that much more stoked to have him be the one to do the job. Brett’s THE man and Premium is THE spot. I cannot wait to see what he does with this piece in the follow up sessions.
And yeah, it’s true, he is a decent singer as well.

I don’t hesitate to give Premium Tattoo 5 stars. At this point, I’ve had work done by Danielle. Beyond being an amazing artist, who went beyond my expectations w/​regards to technique and aesthetics, she is super chill and oh so friendly. I gave her a very basic concept w/​a few photos of what I had in mind. She was open to me tweaking my original idea, but once the concept was locked and loaded, I let her execute the piece and couldn’t be happier. I’m seeing her again next week for another tattoo and I have an appointment with Brett in Sept.

Amazing work, super professional, good prices. Went in for a consultation sent up an appointment for two weeks later. I sent Matt over my ideas via email and he captured exactly what I wanted. Their after-​care advice is the best I literally had a scab-​free post tattoo.
They all know their sh*t. I love that they all have their own styles and don’t compete for customers. I originally wanted something done by Dani but she suggested Matt instead because what I wanted was more his style. His line work is clean and precise.
I’m going here for all my future tattoos!
