Slick and Dapper Barber Shop

If you decide to come here, it’s best to make an appointment as they can get so crowded you may not have a spot. But if you make an appointment in advance there’s no wait at all. And if you do wait, you can enjoy a hot cup of coffee or a cold beer for free.
This place also has plenty of originality and swag with their neo-​classical ambiance.
You can also get your haircut any style you’d like, or just come in for a shave or a clean up. Generally speaking, it is 25 bucks to get your hair cut. Hell of a deal.

Always satisfied with my hair cuts here! The staff can be hit or miss… sometimes very friendly, other times over-​worked. But I’ve never left with a bad haircut, so that’s really what matters. They’ll offer you coffee in the mornings. I have been offered a beer in the afternoon, but not always. Depends on who you get! Rarely have room for walk-​ins, so call and schedule ahead.

Erin is a terrific cutter. BUT their scheduling software is HORRIBLE. I have had two instances of screw ups. Once the scheduled appointment was ignored and the most recent instance the program changed the date and time from the original confirming appointment.
Get a new scheduling software. The ability to schedule an appointment is what make S&D easier than Temescal Alley barbers.

Nancy is amazing! Go to her! She knows how to cut curly or straight hair.

Nick cut my hair since before these shops were open. Given the obligations of management, I feel bad requesting appointments with him, so I’ve tried out most of their staff. Angie seems entirely capable, and has cut my hair probably a half dozen times. The last time I had my hair cut, a series of people came in, without appointments, demanding immediate haircuts. When they were told that there were no barbers to accommodate them, they began to make a scene, raving about how they deserved special treatment because they were ‘Yelp Elites.’ It appeared as though they might need to be forcibly removed, but when a someone actually stood up and protested against their terrible behavior, they fled like the silly bunch of ninnies that they are.
In summary, Slick and Dapper is great, Angie knows her trade and Unilocal Elites are a bunch of cowardly twerps demanding love from a service industry that despises them profoundly.

I was in desperate need of getting my son’s haircut so he didn’t look like a dork for school pictures. I crowdsourced my mom’s group and got Nancy’s name at Slick and Dapper. This was my son’s 4^th haircut EVER, and we had not had good luck so far.
So I crossed my fingers, booked an appointment and showed up. Nancy was great and didn’t seem to mind that I was hovercrafting over my child, trying to keep his 3yr old self still in his seat.
She gave me some suggestions on how to handle his cowlick and how people should be cutting his hair with his cowlick. It turned out great! I was SOOOOO relieved. Can’t wait for the school pictures.
She did an awesome job in under ½ hour on a squirmy 3yr old! (With a hovercrafting mom!) That takes talent.
We will be going back! Thanks Nancy!

Still visiting Fancy Nancy at Slick and Dapper. I even drive in from Sacramento now to see her. Slick and Dapper is wonderful. Some of their reception staff are better than others — but the majority of the folks there are wonderfully friendly and I always get way more than my money’s worth.
If you are looking for a barber, you gotta check them out!

I was recommended to go here by a coworker, and boy I’m glad I went. Angie gave me the best short haircut ever! I went in with a giant mop of hair that hadn’t been dealt with in two years and she made me look quite dapper. I brought in a little drawing of what I wanted it to look like and POOF MAGIC.
The only picky reason I minus a star is this. I sat down about 15 minutes early, the hostess said «oh do you have an appt?» I said «yes, I’m here early.» She said OK and went about her business. When it was almost time for my appt, two other customers walked in and she asked them if they’d like water, beer, or coffee. Made me feel like she didn’t care to ask me for whatever reason, and especially when I got there 15 mins early?
Picky reason for reals, the haircut and overall experience was great. If I go again and things change I’ll revise:)

I’ve always had a great haircut here, and been offered beer or coffee while I wait for my stylist/​barber/​whatever.
One major plus is that they take appointments, which you really do need to make, because they’re that popular.

This place is pretty amazing. Great service all around. Friendly professional staff. Pretty chill atmosphere. Really nice selection of hair products for purchase.

I’d suggest calling to make an appointment before coming here. This place runs a pretty smooth operation so their barbers all seem to be booked.

I love this place. It reminds me of the shop I use to go to with my dad. Now I get to bring my 3 year old son with me. Jessi cuts me and my sons hair. She does an amazing job. Everyone who works there is super nice and extremely talented. Thank you Slick and Dapper!

Today marks my 2^nd time at Slick & Dapper and I have been taken care of well both times.
First experience (roughly over a month ago):
Greeted and check in was easy with receptionist. Rob came shortly after and got me in his chair. Had a brief consult on what hairstyle I was looking for (undercut with tapers and length on the top) and Rob began cutting my hair. The whole haircut went smooth in terms of how he maneuvered around my long hair. He also ensured much attention to detail while holding down pleasant conversation. Rob definitely got what I wanted down and I was very pleased.
Free coffee was great too!
Second experience (Today):
Check in was easy and Tony had just been finishing up with a client. He got me in his chair, gave a brief consult and really made sure he didn’t miss any extra details. This time around I wanted the same cut I had with rob, except with a trim on the top instead of keeping my length. Wasn’t a problem at all for Tony. The amount of care put into my haircut was awesome. Even after styling my hair with product, Tony went back and cleaned everything up since I had a stubborn cowlick in the back. He even taught me a couple things about how to use product to help form my hair against it.
Both of these gentlemen were next in line for their lunch breaks, but didn’t rush their time on my haircut at all. That’s another reason why I would recommend Tony or Rob to anyone looking to get an awesome haircut with a good conversation.

Oh, and it’s affordable too? Hey now, that’s how you become my new neighborhood barber shop of choice. Loved the cut from Erin, she’s great to talk to as well.
One star ding for a few stray hairs missed on the fade and a bit saddened it doesn’t come with a VIP razor shave out the box, but overall pretty satisfied with the cut!
Pro tip: If you are trying to grow out your hair like I am, you can ask for just a touch up for a discounted rate of $ 15 when things start looking scraggly around the ears.

Always a great cut from Rob — Wife gives a smile of approval on my return home :). There’s a good atmosphere here, old school barber vibe for a (in my case slightly) younger generation.
Beers are appreciated, folks are friendly, and never any hassle making appointments. Plenty of street parking nearby, and their spot over on Grand is solid too.

It’s the other slick and dapper — the newer one. Between the 2 locations I have like 60 check-ins…(I get a cut every 2 weeks) S&D is the best. Nick is the bomb dot com and about as chill as they come. And if Nick isn’t around, Nancy is also AWESOME! Great barber/​hair stylist and just good people overall.
Can’t recommend these guys enough.

Slick and unfriendly: I made a reservation for 3p for my son. Run slightly late, got called at 10 past 3p. I told them I am about to park and will be there. I was told that this is ok. Walking in 2 min later I am told by the same person that I am too late and they will not honor the reservation. I was told policy is 15 min late is too late. After pointing out that I am not 15 min late the story changed to 7 min is the cut off. After asking why I am not told so on the phone story changed again.
Unfriendly, dishonest, disappointing!
I have used slick & dapper on lake shore (nick) multiple times before. Today’s experience at Broadway location is hopefully an exception.

I walked in on a Saturday afternoon since I was in the neighborhood and had some time to kill. I did quick search on Unilocal and found the highly regarded barbershop. Cool, only a 2 minute walk away.
I walk in and it’s sparse. I see two barbers cleaning up and the gentleman at the front desk look at me. I ask him if he takes walkins and he replies «we’re fully booked.» I look over and see two barbers staring at me from their chairs. I ask, «I just need a quick trim, is there any way either of those two gentlemen can squeeze me in?» Blank stare. «We’re fully booked», he replies. I have no words in response, so I just walk out of the establishment.
Now, I understand that barbers like to work off appointments and sometimes cannot work walkins into their appointments. But the way I was treated today really made me sad, perhaps I didn’t have a hipster enough vibe or just wasn’t the type of clientele that they like to serve.
Regardless, I won’t ever be returning here.

I love getting my hair cut here. They make you feel at home. They offer you a beverage every time you come in. The price is reasonable and the barbers are attentive and personable.
They take cards, and appointments. Drop ins are doable too, but sometimes risky if you need to get in and out!
If you want a great haircut from great people, come here! They’ll take care of you!

Love. Love. Love this place. The staff is always super nice and helpful (even if I have to reschedule more than once). I get my hair and my son’s hair cut by Tony. Super nice guy who remembers me and what’s up in my world. They also do Lady cuts, so don’t be swayed if you’ve got that long, luxurious thing going for you. They offer beverages while you wait and all sorts of hair goop if you’re in need.
I have to say, Tony gave my toddler a haircut with ease. That’s hard to come by if you ask me. My kid is 18 months (can’t wait to just say «2») and his hair is rockin.
I’ve no need to go elsewhere.
