History
Established in 1961.
Montclair Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1961 at the very location it is in today. In recent years, the team at Montclair veterinary Hospital have received awards for being the best Veterinary Hospital in the East Bay from East Bay Express, Oakland Magazine, KRON 4 news and Bay Woof magazine. We appreciate and love our clients very much and our goal is to be your pet’s best vet too.

Dr. Richter is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelors of Science, a Masters of Science in Veterinary Medical Science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Richter moved to the Bay Area in 1998, when he soon began as a full-time emergency medicine clinician in Berkeley at Pet Emergency Treatment Service and as a general practitioner at Berkeley Dog and Cat Hospital.
Dr. Richter is also certified in veterinary acupuncture & chiropractic care. He is passionate about integrative medicine, and offers holistic treatments at Holistic Veterinary Care, a sister clinic to Montclair Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Richter’s professional interests are in emergency, general practice, alternative care medicine and wildlife rescue. He also volunteers his time on the Board of Directors for the Alameda County Veterinary Medical Association. He is also the California Veterinary Medical Association’s Alameda County representative regarding animal disaster planning.
