Can’t speak to their work, but I can say I saw their oversized pick-​up truck — bearing company insignias on every panel — back into a car in a parking lot then drive off. Maybe their work is good, but I’m not too impressed with their ethics.,

Never got an estimate emailed to me, but I was glad because I could tell the professionalism was missing. Show up 30min late for estimate. Called Mchales insulation and they took care of me professional, communicates through secretary of appointment times and changes. Use McHales. Maybe a $ 900 job wasn’t worth it for him. Totally unprofessional. 0 stars, they make you select one.

Mr. McCoy is very knowledgeable and made me feel confident in his work. He discovered during his inspection that debris was left by our roofer. Watch out if you get a new roof, they don’t always clean up after themselves. In any case, we are gladly giving Mr. McCoy our business. Not only is he well versed in what he does — he is simply — a good guy! He also gave us some wonderful suggestions on what we can do ourselves since our budget is limited. You can not put a price on integrity!

McCoy and his crew did insulation in the attic for my triplex in Oakland last summer, and I was very happy that they did a wonderful job at a reasonable price. I think they used more than enough material so the attic looks like a pink winter wonderland. The crew also cleaned up afterwards responsibly. I record them.

Carl is a good contractor. He got the job from hell and did a great job on time. Most others would have bailed. Try his hybrid foam system of 2.5 inches of foam with blown-​in over the top. R30 in a 7.5 inch joist bay. Great deal!

I have used McCoy Insulation for 2 jobs on my house in Pleasanton. Once for an addition in 2012 and the 2^nd time was yesterday for the attic and floor insulation for the original part of the house. The job they did yesterday was almost 3,000SF in the attic and about the same amount for the floor. The attic had R-​19 and they brought it up to R-​49. They then installed R-​19 floor insulation in my very tight crawl space. The price was fair and the work was well done. Carl’s son Dorin ran the job and he was great to deal with. He even taped up some of my leaking heating ducts at no additional charge. I was worried about my fire sprinkler system being disturbed and they were careful not to damage any pipes. They left the place pretty clean and all we had to do was spend 15 minutes vacuuming and our house was back to normal. The house is so much warmer now and we are so glad to finally have everything well insulated.

User Reviews are very helpful to me so I always write a review whenever I can to help other Unilocalers. I’m a new homeowner and repairs and projects are numerous. I always go to Unilocal to hire contractors when I can.
I contacted Carl McCoy last February. He gave me an estimate. His quote was really reasonable compared to other big insulation companies. I told him I’ll save up some money and contact him again. I contacted him again last month and gave him the job. He sent three men. Two Latinos (no idea if they are from Mexico or other parts of Latin America) and one from Pittsburg, CA. They are all hardworking and the 2 Latinos were very polite and thorough in doing their job.
My only complaint is that Carl didn’t tell his workers where exactly to insulate. I needed to tell them where. They also run out of cellulose to use because they didn’t know how much they really need to use. The insulation came out great though. The place is much cooler. I don’t know if there’s a rift between Carl and his workers why they don’t really talk to each other much. He told me the workers are his son’s staff.
They seemed nice to me and hard working which I only really care about. They did a good job too.

Team showed up on time and was friendly. I went with fiberglass blown in insulation. 1 had to remove one star because it was not all evenly blown on one of my bedrooms… but they fixed it when I said I was not happy. No hassle, good job. Definitely will recommend to my friends.

McCoy insulation was great! He gave me a quick estimate and completed the work a couple of days later. The workers were fast, professional and cleaned up nicely after they were done. I would recommend them to anyone considering home insulation, and our house is much cooler on hot days.

I had my house insulated (attic and sub-​floor) — the pricing was fair and the crew came on time. No issues whatsoever with the installation at all. The crew, however, was a bit messy and did not clean up thoroughly after the job was done.
A few days later the recessed lighting in all of our rooms started going on and off intermittently. Did a quick search on Google and discovered that the recessed lighting we had was the non-​IC type and as such require a baffle (a barrier between the light fixture and the insulation) to avoid an overheating issue and potential fire hazard. I called Carl and he came by that night with his crew at 7 in the evening and swept the insulation away from the lights and the next day the crew came and installed baffles. He apologized and even gave me some money back for the trouble — wow! (I didn’t even ask for that).
So, I’m a happy camper. Advice to homeowners — make sure to check to see if your recessed lights are either the IC type (no baffle required) or the non-​IC type (baffle required).

Carl McCoy is fantastic. He showed up when he said he would and provided an estimate the same day. The job was completed on time and within budget. The only negatives were he never showed during the entire installation and his team was a bit sloppy… bent window screen and dropped plaster all over the place. I discovered all this the next day.
For all those planning on having insulation blown into the walls from the inside, prepare yourself for the mess. You will want to take everything off the walls including all window treatments. Do your best to move and cover furniture. Plan on whatever time it will take to clean everything.

They did a great job insulating the space above the ceiling in my apartment, and it’s a lot warmer now. But more importantly, they accidentally knocked out a wire in the ceiling and came back to fix it, when many contractors would have said, «Sorry, not my problem!»

I had McCoy Insulation blow insulation in the space between my garage ceiling and my Living Room floor. They did an excellent job! I would highly recommend them to all my friends.

I had a bad experience with even getting a consultation with this company. First contact they said they could come out to give an estimate on Saturday the day after I called. However when Saturday arrived I got a voicemail in the morning that they were coming from Sacramento and would be late (originally meeting 11:30−12 got pushed back to 12 – 12:30) I called back and told them it would be fine, they then said more like 12:30−1pm, which was fine but my husband had an appointment at 1:30pm and he wanted to be there to speak with them as well. In any case, 1:05pm we call them and Carl, the owner and person I’ve been communicating with states he is in Oakland and will have to reschedule. We decline as this is not a good first impression at all. I have no problems with being late or postponing as long as reasonable effort is placed in communicating the delays. But in this case, Carl felt it was fine to just leave us hanging and not tell us he did not intend to come and my husband almost missed his appointment for nothing. Good luck to those who use this company.

McCoy Insulation reinsulated the attic in our house on the Peninsula this week. They removed all of the existing loose, blown-​in insulation and replaced it with eco-​friendly batt insulation. I called five different insulation companies and McCoy’s quote was not only the most competitive but it also included the installation of more expensive batts instead of cheaper blown-​in insulation.
They were very friendly, professional and easy to work with. It is amazing how much more temperate our house is with the new insulation. Thanks Carl and Dorin and the rest of your crew for the nice job on our house!

I live in San Jose and Carl and Dorin came all the way here. Carl and Dorin are both friendly and very knowledgeable. They gave me a reasonable price and had me inspect their work after completion. They even went out of their way to put extra insulation. I would highly recommend McCoy Insulation.

Carl came by quickly to give me an estimate and then provided both wall and attic insulation quickly, professionally, and for a great price. He also provided me the proper paperwork so I got my PG&E rebate with no hassles. Great and friendly service… highly recommended!

Carl is very friendly, prices are competitive, and scheduling is super flexible. And they work fast!
