J & B Towing

I came here to pick up a stolen vehicle. The car was dead and they helped jump start it. One day storage and tow was $ 265. Quick, friendly service.

Good experience overall. Very quick turnaround, they let me doublecheck that the car was in good shape before I paid and took it.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. I am incredibly appalled at the kind of people who work at J & B Towing.
Coming out to the sight of your car being towed doesn’t give anyone the mot pleasant feeling in the world. These guys gave unpleasant a whole new meaning. When I saw them preparing to get my car onto the truck’s platform, I immediately ran over, waving to grab their attention only to be brushed off coldly by one of the workers, Pedro. Initially, I tried to speak rationally to them, but these guys were not taking the time to even acknowledge me. I don’t know what I did to deserve the cold condescending looks I got from these «holier-​than-​thou» men. Was it because they’d never gotten their car towed? Or was it more personal, because I was a woman? Or of different ethnic background? What ever it was, I could not seem to stand face to face and reason things out with them. Of course, frustrated that I wasn’t able to speak to them, I called my husband. I asked them to give me five minutes for my husband. Just five minutes. When I voiced my request, Pedro raised his voice and ground in my face, «Five minutes is five minutes! If your husband is even one minute late, we WILL tow your car.» Startled and fed up, and I knew I had to stand up for myself, so I did what I rarely do and asked him, straight face and all (but I was shaking from anger on the inside), «What is your name?» Pedro. there was another man with him, Luis, as I later learned, but I let him be because he seemed to understand that he wouldn’t like it if he was getting berated at the same time his car was being towed.
When my husband got there, I asked Castro to tell Pedro to try to reason something out with my husband, but across the parking lot, I heard a resounding «NO.» How immature! This shows how they do business, if they don’t get what they want by screaming in your face, they act like children.
In the end, they demanded $ 120 for my car to be returned to me. Note that this was before my car got onto the platform of the truck, it was just driven to the truck and being prepared to get on. I’m lucky, I guess. I know a few others in that parking lot was not so fortunate, and I empathize with them. They’re not going to get their car back the next day and they’d have to pay $ 450 each.
Pedro was the one who drove my car back to its original parking spot. I could tell he was angry because he yanked the brake lever up so hard that I thought it was broken. I tried and tried, but couldn’t get the handle down until my daughter and I put out whole weight in to get the thing back to normal. This shows that they will not care for your car if they don’t get the money they want. Who cares if your car is damaged and you have to put money out to fix it? They obviously don’t whatsoever.
This shows the company does not honor their code of conduct. Or do they even have one? I thought that all companies were supposed to serve their customers satisfactorily with a smile on their faces. Albeit I don’t consider myself a customer, I expect as humans we can be patient (GIVE ME TEN DAMN SECONDS TO TALK TO YOU) and sort things out, but nothing of that sort was found.
If you’re looking for respect, this place is not worth your consideration. I am so astounded that someone can be so callous. This event ruined my night, I doubt you care, but if it were to happen to you, I bet you wouldn’t be so chipper either. I am so disappointed in J & B towing. I’m not so much upset at the fact that my car was almost towed, but rather that the workers treat me as if I’m the dirt below their shoes.
I don’t understand how they got two 5 star reviews when it is clear the service is deteriorating.
J & B Towing, if you’re reading this, good for you. Do yourself a favor and let go of Pedro. He’s really diminishing the value of your company.

This place is awesome! Although needing a tow is never a good situation J&B was able to turn a bad situation into a slightly better situation.
My truck ended up at J&B towing as a result of a theft and recovery in Oakland. After hearing many horror stories about awful tow yards stripping cars down father than they were stripped by the thieves, I didn’t walk into their shop with an open mind, and even dreaded going to recover my truck.
I was very pleasantly surprised, J&B towing is not one of THOSE towing companies. They explained everything clearly, helped me get my truck back to where it was stolen from (over 100 miles away), and even went to bat for me with my insurance claims adjuster who refused to help.
I would recommend J & B to anyone in the bay area needing help with towing. I will warn you that the lady who answers the phone is not very helpful and doesn’t have the best phone skills but she is no reflection of the rest of the crew. It is worth talking to her just to get the excellent customer service I received from everyone else!

I want to freeze a log of my own shit and fuck this place with it.
My car got towed. It was my fault, whatever, I can handle it. I called and was quoted a price and told to call when I get to the shop to have someone open the gate for me. Ok, I can do that.
I call from around the corner, saying we’ll be at the door momentarily. The woman on the phone (the same one I had been dealing with) told me she would call her driver.
45 minutes go by without a peep. I call back and, I fucking shit you not, this woman told me «oh you should have called.» To which I told her I obviously did that, as evidenced by the fact that we talked on the phone.
After a considerable amount of hemming and hawing on her end, she fesses up to me that «a lot of people lie» about being on their way to pick up their cars, so she decided to not do shit for me. She tried to fucking blame me for waiting on her to do her job. Total bullshit.
The driver tried to charge me over what was quoted. Thankfully not having to pay more than the original price was like, the highlight of this experience.
Now I know I don’t have a lot of say when it comes to whether or not I’ll ever have to deal with J&B in the future, but I swear to you, I would stab myself in the throat with a blunted chopstick to avoid any future encounters.
The driver wasn’t a total dick, so, yay.

I got a call in the middle of the night that my stolen car got found by the cops. Went down to J&B to pick it up that morning. You gotta call them on the phone when you arrive so they can open the locked gate.
Car was wrecked. Guy wanted to charge me $ 275 for recovering the car, towing it to the lot, and storing it for the morning. He said that he would lower the charge for $ 225. I asked him if he thought I could get anything for the car at a junk yard. He suggested that a junk yard might take it off my hands for nothing.
Notwithstanding the fact that I have a towing package with my insurance, I could have had it towed to some nearby junk yard, I ended up paying the tow yard $ 200 and gave them title to my car.
After reading Jennifer C.‘s review about J&B, maybe I could have gotten something for my car from a salvage yard and should have just given J&B just the title instead of the title and $ 200.
Let me know if you think I could have gotten something for a trashed 20+ year old car from a junk yard.

My Nissan was towed to J & B Wednesday after a tire blew out and it rolled on 580 near Park Blvd. I was taken by ambulance to Kaiser, but J & B and the CHP gathered all of my husbands expensive tools that flew out of the trunk when the car rolled. When we got to J & B we doubted we would get anything back, but Chuck had all of the tools and belongings waiting for us to pick up. And he went back into the car and found my iPhone! Amazing service– and the dogs are cute, too. :-)

I had my car stolen and got a call from CHP that it was towed here. Now I know tow yards get a bad rap and some if it is justified but your going to a tow yard, what do you expect. What I thought to expect was to pay and arm and a leg for my car that would be poor condition and if I wanted to have them take it off my hands they might give me a $ 100 towards the tow fees. I came prepared with gas so if it was empty I could start it. I brought my pink slip just in case I could trade it for some of the cost if I couldn’t drive it home. So it turns out my car was in poor condition, and not running. I wasn’t going to have it towed home so it could sit in my driveway and collect dust. Mind you the car is a 94 Honda, dime a dozen worth about $ 1000 if it was running. I asked the guy there what can we do? He said «You just got your car stolen, I’m not going to stab you in the back on top of that». We end up trading the car for the for the towing and storage fee. Quite reasonable, I couldn’t have expect more than that. I left there thinking at least the universe throw me a bone after the whole ordeal. I hope the guy who stole it gets what he got coming to him.

These guys are great. Really helped me out when I was in a jam and made sure I still got to work on time. Fast friendly service. Highly recommended.

Ugh, my sister’s car got stolen, stripped and dumped in Oakland… Having had my car stolen before, I was not looking forward to this.
After a long morning of DMV, paperwork, & general stress, we finally head over to J&B’s to get the car. I admit, after reading the reviews I was not anticipating a pleasant visit. We pull up to this place, it’s on a cul de sac kinda street, which was nice compared to the back streets we had to drive to get here (Take San Leandro Street, it’s much easier). You pull up outside and call, and a service guy will come out to let you in. We had Jose, who was very helpful and nice and answered our questions. We were able to see the car to determine if we could drive it or if we needed a tow. The cost to get it out was $ 265, which was $ 190 for the tow and $ 75 for the storage (comparable to other places). Lucky for us, CHP called us the day it got towed so we didn’t get stuck with a high (er) bill. Lets face it, it sucks to have this happen and it sucks to have to pay for something like this, but sh*t happens.
Thanks Jose for your help and for exceeding my expectations of this place.

California Highway Patrol should call the owners of their stolen cars so they can pick it up and not towing companies.
This J&B Towing held my husband’s stolen car for 4 days and charged him $ 500! For what?! For parking?! Ridiculous!

had a commercial truck stolen recently. truck was towed here.
got the truck out within a reasonable amount of time.
minor issues:
–few people working, so waiting is a must
–waitiing for right person to show up.
–getting right info
–service not assembly line, WYSIWYG.
–hopefully no returns here (or anywheres like this)
–service better than expected. no hassles.

Great people over here. They came out quick to tow my vehicle from Hayward, CA on the 880 freeway when someone hit me, brought it to their storage lot because i didnt know where else to tow it to, and they told me that they will help me with getting it to where I need to the next day! I went there the next day to look at my car and to get pictures of it and let them know where I needed it towed to. They brought the car to the body shop of my choice quick and very painless for me… hopefully i dont need to but if i ever need a tow, these guys are getting the call!

Took forever contacting someone there to look at my car that was stolen! arghhhhhhh…
