Kam Wong, DPM

Ive saw Dr Wong once before a couple of years ago, but not any more. After calling and scheduling an appointment for the same week, (I needed to see someone right away) I took off work, battled traffic, hassled to find street parking but made it with 10 mins to spare. I checked in at the front desk and was told to take a seat… which I did for 30 mins. I finally got up and asked what was going on with my appointment and was told by the same front desk person she wasnt in charge of Dr. Wong’s appointments (why she wouldnt tell me that right away I have no idea), and directed me into the office to a closet area (yeah, closet area…) where Dr. Wongs receptionist was looking at her paper appointment book. I ask how much longer I would need to wait for my appointment and she said she didnt have me down for an appointment. When I protested that I had just called two days ago for a same week appointment she went through the book and realized it was next week instead. I would have gone else where if it was going to be a week and a half to get an appointment and they had clearly flipped to the wrong page in their paper notebook calendar.
Serious fail on the office staff’s part. In addition to being cramped into the smallest waiting room Ive ever seen, no one bothered to ask why I was still waiting or what my deal was, even though Dr. Wongs people came in and out of the waiting area constantly, stepping over me. Im really upset that I rearranged the whole day, took off work and didnt get my foot looked at. I cancelled my appointment for next week and am never going back.

I was referred to Dr. Wong by my primary care physician a few years ago. He worked with the sensibility of an artist to fashion and fit proper cushioning in my walking shoes. Feet have a LOT of bones in them and can be quite challenging. Dr. Wong won’t give up until he’s helped you. Good guy, very caring, like an old fashioned family doctor.

Dr. Wong is wonderful to work with and is a very caring and thoughtful person. He is quite creative with his orthodics. He calls it «arts and crafts.»

I almost want my husband to develop a foot issue so he can experience the joys of seeing Dr. Wong. He’s one of the best doctors I’ve ever seen — knowledgeable, caring, and out for patients’ best interest. He saves all of us money by using an ancient toaster oven to heat up material for making orthotics and by saying «check in with me in 3 weeks, but if you’re experiencing no issues, cancel the appointment». He also speaks like 5 languages.

Dr. Wong is great! He got my whole family orthotics. Dr Wong definitely knows what he’s doing. I use my orthotics mainly inside my sneakers since it won’t fit with my heels. Instead, Dr. Wong used a thinner shoe liner that would fit for most of my working shoes. I was really happy how far he goes to make sure I’m happy. He also takes his time to diagnose the condition of my feet.
He’s not only a great doctor but he’s also a great person. I love his table manners as he is always very open to listen to my concerns. During my follow up visits, again he takes his time to ensure my orthotics are working for me.
I will high recommend him to anyone who is having trouble walking/​running!

I had a great first appointment today with Dr. Wong. He diagnosed my existing foot problem, as well as a structural issue that probably contributed to two other overuse injuries I’ve had over the last 20 years. No other podiatrist I’ve seen has put them all together.
I am a retired runner (age 40), but still highly active. I look forward to staying active under his care, with less pain in my foot and knees.

Today I saw a different doctor who took X-​rays. Turns out I have arthritis, bone spurs and tendon problems. He’s making me orthotics. If dr. Wong had cared at all he might have diagnosed me right. Useless.
How can you tell anything without X-​rays?

Kam Wong may be a good podiatrist but has such poor social and communication skills that I actually walked out of his office. This is the first time I’ve ever left a doctor’s office. I had come to seek advice about some issues I was having with my foot. He kept reiterating «what do you want me to do about it?»
That’s what I’ve come to ask you, I said.
He’d asked me when I first visited if I considered surgery. I said no.
On a subsequent visit, I asked him what surgery entailed. Instead
of explaining, he launched into a tirade saying that I didn’t know
what I wanted. Surgery? not surgery?
This is what I am asking you, I said.
We went around and around.
So bizarre to seek advice from a doctor and he accuses you
of not knowing what you want.
Well Duh! Isn’t that why one goes to seek treatment?
To find out what the options are and what it entails.
I notice another patient also commented on his poor communication
skills. I would add that he’s unnecessarily combative and insulting.
Go somewhere else. There are plenty of other podiatrists around.

I had been to three other podiatrists before I had the good fortune to find Dr. Wong. He gave me hope that my plantar facieitist could be corrected, and created some orthodics that were far superior to the ones I’d had before. He is an artist as well as a craftsperson and doctor. He understands the repercussions of corrections, and has helped me live an active life, without pain.
I am pleased to be able to recommend Dr. Wong to anyone who has foot pain.

I was referred to Dr. Wong by my primary care physician. Dr. Wong is friendly and down-​to-​earth. He almost immediately figured out what was wrong with my foot and found an easy, relatively cheap fix for it. I’d recommend him highly.

Been seeing Dr. Wong for years and he is hands down the best podiatrist. He is extremely experience in his profession and his diagnosis skill is second to none. He is extremely friendly and is willing to go out of his way to help you. He considers many treatment options before surgery. I definitely recommend Dr. Wong for any podiatry work.

Dr Wong is very knowledgable about orthotics. He makes custom orthotics which correct imbalances in the structure of the foot. I have not used the orthotics he made for me long enough to know whether they will make a significant difference in my symptoms, but I think they probably will help.
I find his communication skills lacking. If you need to discuss anything subtle, like how orthotics might affect other parts of your body as you adjust to them, he simply lacks the skill. He’s a mechanic. Unless he creates a flyer with Q + A, don’t expect satisfying answers to your questions, or even a civil conversation regarding them.
That said, he’s the only podiatrist who makes custom orthotics in the E Bay.
