Era Art Bar & Lounge

My friends and I attended the Warriors watch party with reserved seating. Our first time there. The host at the door was great, I heard it was her first day! She was a pleasure and had wonderful customer service. After being seating the General manager Mike checked on us several times throughout the event. However., after all friendly service the bartender upstairs was not so friendly… Needless to say after telling the GM Mike how unhappy I was with the service, he turned the night around within minutes. All I can say is that I loved the customer service and hospitality. Even with the minor issue I overall loved the atmosphere and service that was provided. It’s evident that the management there has the right idea when it comes to service!

Place opens about hour and a half before tip off — usually small line right when that happens. Gets packed really quick. Cool spot to watch games because they have a big projector screen and several flat screens around the bar and seating area. Only had 3 beers on tap when I went, but not a big deal. Quick service. They have a DJ that plays during commercials so it’s all good!

This bar is just not as cool as they think they are. It could be a great place to party, but they have weirdly strict dress codes and once you get in ALL the seats are «reserved» for people who will never show up. Plus, the music selection is really lame. Don’t bother.

Great place to party! Parking is a bit challenging so you have to be there early to find good parking.

As much as I love a fun night out with the girls, I can say this is one night I wish I had stayed home.
My girl & I decided to come out on Super Bowl weekend to get out of the SF madness, many friends recommended ERA (I had a talk with them) but I wish they never had.
We arrived with our names on the guestlist & bottle. We were taken upstairs where the sound system was horrible. It was like guess the song. We were then placed in front of speaker that was so muffled you couldn’t hear a thing. We requested another location and it took about 40 minutes for that to happen. It also took 30 minutes for our bottle to even make it out to us.
We were informed that someone would come move the drinks & table for us, but that did not happen either. We spoke to the manager who did nothing to assist. Overall the customer service was horrible, the sound system mediocre, the Sprite flat, luckily the people were the best part of the venue.
Last thing is security did not make one feel protected as he got knocked out right in front of us…
So do to the customer service of the manger mostly (our server tried) I will NOT be back to ERA.

Worst experience at a lounge! The day after Christmas my friends and I decided to meet up for a mini reunion at Era. The night started off weird from the rude treatment by the bartenders and ended on a bad note with a broken glass being dropped on my head from the second level.
The bartenders did not want to make my friend a drink since it was from the menu that they claim is not served after dinner hours. Instead of communicating this to her, the two bartenders servicing our area bickered between each other and flipped each other off. When the drink was made, it did not taste the same as the first drink ordered and the bartender decided to stare us down making us feel uncomfortable as we discussed how gross the drink was.
The night continued, but abruptly came to an end when a broken glass from the second level was dropped on my head. I was covered in blood and asked to go in the kitchen with my friend who was also cut by the glass.
It was obvious I needed to go to the hospital to assess the severity of the accident. Before leaving I asked the general manager, Michael, how the expenses would be covered and he assured me Era’s liability insurance would cover medical costs.
Long story short, Era has never taken accountability for the accident. I continuously have to reach out to them to follow up. One of the owners, Kevin, took over communication, but he continuously ignores emails and has stopped responding altogether. My experience has taught me that Era does not look out for their patrons or have proper protocol in place to deal with these type of accidents.
Word of advice: If you experience an accident at Era, get their liability insurance prior to leaving and file an insurance claim. Avoid settling the matter privately because you will probably have to sue them before they ever pay for medical expenses.

This was my place to go when I wanted to dance some good hip-​hop. As every other club the behavior at the door isn’t the most pleasant but once in it was never a disappointment. Yesterday me and my friend paid $ 15 each to get in, which is ok but when we got in the sound system had some issues. Not all the speakers were functioning. We tried to enjoy it anyway but it was quite hard to hear the music when the crowd noise was louder than it.
We decided to leave then explained to some members our dissatisfaction and cordially asked if it was possible to get a refund. Not only we didn’t get the money back, the guy at the door was rude and unapologetic, an apology is the least you can do. He said we could go somewhere else if we didn’t like the club.
I wonder if they even pay taxes on their cover charge since no receipt was given to us.
Next time I’ll definitely go somewhere else where my business is appreciated. Because you still are running a business remember.

I had a BLAST on Saturday ! New ERa bought me back to the Days of Club Mingles, Zazoos mixed with the classiness of Club 17^th and diversity of Somar. So many beautiful ladies in the house and drinks very pricey but on point. Plus the line moved fast and DJ Hector is amazing a real club Dj not these watered down transplant Djs ! He keeps the crowd moving all nite long ! New ERA you now have the crown !

Out of towner trying a new place. $ 10 cover fee, which I am never a fan of, especially when the drinks aren’t cheap. Got there around 11 and there was good music playing and wasn’t packed. I had very high hopes. Ordered two well drinks, they were pretty harsh and more expensive than I would have liked to pay for them. Around $ 7.50 for a small mixed drink is steep for me.
Nice upstairs lounge area and a bar that didn’t have a wait. Downstairs was dancing, when there was room. Certainly filled up by midnight. I love dancing, but not in places where there is no room to dance and you can’t even dance because there are constantly people trying to walk through the dance floor.
It was a Saturday night so I am not surprised it got busy, but unfortunately when it gets too packed to move, I lose interest. If I were in the area on a Friday night, I would try it out again. The only thing that kept me there was the DJ. Great mix of music.

$ 7.71 for a well vodka and pineapple. DONT drink the well! Ahhhh… it was harsh.
Got very crowded by midnight. Upstairs has an empty bar and more of a lounge.

My gf turned 50 we did cup brought in food and was a great experience we were upstairs on couches dancing. Just the ten of us lol. Downstairs was a little crowded had a Vall up there waitress was great cut up our cake and the staff sang to her !!! Ahhhhh

I sought out this place after seeing an advertisement they distributed saying that they were going to show the Republican debate. I confirmed that they were going to show the debate before ordering drinks.
Halfway through the debate, I was told that they were going to shut the debate off because… well, exactly! Because they felt like it, who knows? I complained that I only ordered drinks because they said they were going to show the debate. Then they changed the channel, and others complained as well. Basically a lot of hassle for a not-​that-​great spot for a Happy Hour.
Might be fun on the weekends, but don’t take them or their advertisements at their word!

I came to Era to celebrate my friend’s birthday but wasn’t allowed inside. I arrived prior to 10:30 so this bar did not have many people standing in line. The security guard’s excuse for not letting me in was because I was wearing a v-​neck. I complied and discussed the matter with my friends while we stood to the side and tried to figure out what to do. Then to add insult to injury we saw a ton of men wearing t-​shirts go into the bar. Additionally other men with t-​shirts were leaving the bar. I essentially was not allowed into this establishment because I was an Asian male. All the other men wearing t-​shirts were black. My first experience of racial discrimination.

Bay Area sports fanatic? Then this the place to be. For sure.
I watched the USAvGER there and the place was packed!!! Don’t worry folks, there’s plenty of TVs though. And the place is straight up electric. Even if you’re just there as a lazy date because they like a team that’s playing, you’ll be into too. You won’t be able to stop yourself. Still not sold… go for a big game and there’s a DJ during the pauses. Timeouts. Half time. Reviews. etc. You get it.
Cozy chairs to sit in. BUY PITCHERS not drinks. So go as a beer drinker and not get wastey-​faced with hard alcohol because it’s busy. Yah hurr?

I’ve been here twice for Reggae night. I like the rustic look of the bar and the bartenders dress up for it also. The crowd of people you find here is exactly where you will only find them; more of the ethnic type, mixed in with a few tatted shortays and chubby misfits and only one me, a little asian girl trying shake her flat bum to booty music. The dance floor is a good size but the hallway to the restroom is unusually long and wide. There were sectioned off VIP/​booth areas near the dance floor that were empty, which forced everyone to just stand around the dance floor like caged-​in cattle.
Whats ridiculous is that they charge a cover fee. Really? $ 5? If you think you’re fad enough to be in the realm of demanding a cover, at least be more serious of yourself and charge $ 20. $ 5 just looks cheaply and slickly greedy.
The music was bad last night. It was «Reggae night». Where was the Reggae music?

If you treated you potential patrons better, maybe you would have better reviews.
We came on First Friday, to see a friend DJ.
We waited in line 30 minutes, to be told our friend couldn’t come in, because of his hoodie.
If you want to deny people, that will spend $ in your establishment, so be it.
We will take our business elsewhere.

CROWD + MUSIC + TVS
This place made me feel very welcomed in Oakland. The people were super friendly and kind. Oakland has a good crowd of people, especially here. We rolled about 10 deep and claimed our tiny section for the Warriors western conference game. They had a special if dubs win, 25% off your tab. It can get very hot and no ventilation upstairs when there’s a lot of people. The crowd was of age, mostly 30+. And the best part, they serve food — you can even bring your own food inside too. The bar tenders are fast with making beverages and their aren’t too stingy on the liquor either.
Barely ever cross the bridge to kick it but I think I should cross more often. Oakland people, yall are dope! And I’m starting to like kickn it in Oakland more than I do the city.

WARNING: Ladies, if u didn’t pay for a booth, there is absolutely NO WHERE for u to sit! Oh well if your feet are tired. One star for excellent DJ’s. I’ve been here about 3 times in the last 2yrs, and twice I’ve experienced the bouncer at the door actin’ like an a**. Last year I went for a friends b-​day (they charged her over $ 300 for a booth?!) and I was outside about 1:45am and I forgot my umbrella at the booth. Do u know, the bouncer was not going to let me (and my friend’s friend) go back in to get my umbrella? I was just about to tell him «Ok, then u get it» when he finally let us in. The damn party was over with-​I dunno why he was being such an a** and it was POURING out!
Also, there was another time when I got there so early that they hadn’t set up yet for the «nightclub» so I took a seat at the bar. I sat there a while until they took all the bar stools away, and said I could sit upstairs. I sat upstairs on the couch for about 10min then was told I had to move because these were reserved. There was no where else I could sit since all chairs were taken away downstairs, and I could sit no where else upstairs. How do have a club where we can’t sit down for 3hrs?!
I don’t ever plan on going back. «Security» thinks they’re the sh** and I never have anywhere to sit.

Site says 4pm, advertisements for the Warriors game says 4:30, an employee who answered the phone said 5:00pm, it’s now 5:05 and they’re still not open.

Not exactly sure why the bouncer had us ladies (my friend and I and another group of 3 ladies) waiting outside in the chilly weather, but we were waiting at least 10 minutes just outside the door, there wasn’t even a large crowd.
We were on the guest list, and got in just after 11 with no issues. We walked in to a small crowd already hype on the dance floor. There’s an upstairs I didn’t attempt to see, but there were people up there. We headed straight towards the bar and my friend and I were pretty undecided on what we wanted to drink. We weren’t in anyone’s way, so we just decided to chill at the bar until we were decided on our drinks.
A young female bartender walks up and asks us a couple times what we wanted to drink. The second time I told her I wasn’t sure she offered to make me a drink and let her know if I liked it. The drink came in a very small glass, I sampled it and told her I liked it, so she makes another. I’m thinking the first was complimentary since she offered to make it! She wanted me to pay for it, well what if I didn’t like it? Would I have had to pay for it if I didn’t like it, since I didn’t ask you to make it? I don’t appreciate her trying to play me and I told her she miscommunicated. She apologized, yet I still think she ran my card twice because I have two transactions pending. Don’t get tricked people!
Definitely took awhile for the music to get current. They were playing some old music to begin with like Mariah Carey ft ODB. Get there around 1230 if you want consistent popular/​current music spinning.
