Dr Vernita Marsh & Associates

The massage therapist, Julia, provides a professional and holistic service. I was impressed by her ability to relieve my pain; in fact the pain had existed for many months and has not return weeks after receiving my massage. I highly recommend her services.

Dr. Marsh and her staff are great. I started going to Dr. Marsh in April of 2009, after I had to complete a requirement for my own PhD. Program in Psychology. Basically, I had to undergo 45 hours of my own psychotherapy. Well, I have completed those hours, and still continue to see Dr. Marsh to this very day! In her absence, I have also seen G. Chambers and one of her other associates as well (her name escapes me now). I would say during the time that I have seen Dr. Marsh, I have had my fair share of ups and downs, and she has helped tremendously. I actually found her by looking for referrals on the American Association of Black Psychologists website.
Pros:
1) Wonderful waiting area. Never a large crowd or unruly kids. Andrea the receptionist is wonderful too!
2) Dr. Marsh is very personable, patient, and understanding. God knows when I first started therapy, I hated talking about myself and didn’t want to do it! She is very good at teeth pulling, and just finding out what works with you. She also knows her stuff and keeps it real. Same thing with the other two therapists that I have seen there.
3) She provides insight and perspective. If you dedicate yourself to therapy and the relationship, then there will definitely be positive change and growth. I have seen it in myself.
4) if you are going through a really terrible time, she will call to check up on you!
5) If she is out of the office (e.g. on vacation), she makes sure that there is someone that you can follow up with in her absence.
6) Dr. Marsh returns my calls. If I have gone through a stressful time, and i have called her and left a message, she does follow up asap.
Cons:
1) Doesn’t take my insurance (United Healthcare). I can’t say that I blame her for that one. I personally wouldn’t take it either. Besides everyone knows that the best therapists are out of network with insurance! She does provide you with receipts, so if you have to submit your claim to insurance yourself, you can. However, being a graduate student myself, $$ can be funny sometimes. So there have been times when I have had to put therapy on the backburner. But I always come back when my wallet decides to act right again! That’s just how good Dr. Marsh is. Also, Dr. Marsh has been sympathetic to my financial situation and has worked with me around that issue.
Bottom line: I would highly recommend Dr. Marsh or her staff to anyone that is looking for a good therapist. She is the best therapist around and my quality of life is so much better because of her.

Dr. Vernita Marsh is an exceptional colleague whom I’ve known for several years. We have worked collaboratively in providing care for mutual clients. She is warm, genuine, down to earth and knowledgeable. In addition, she is so patient, kind and sincere – traits of a good therapist and a good friend. Her clients truly value the service she provides for them. Anyone seeking a therapist that will really help them make important changes in their lives need look no further!

In January of 2013, I decided to go back to therapy for a checkup and chose Dr. Marsh via an online search. Through working with Dr. Marsh, I have gotten to know and begin the journey of truly loving myself. The work we have done has allowed me to have richer and healthier relationships with those that I love. I am present more often which allows me to be more mindful and get the most out of my days. Dr. Marsh is kind which has helped me be much more kind and loving to myself and others. I am glad my random online search brought her into my life…
