I have used the Dick’s team on 3 separate occasions for carpet, cork and shade install with excellent service and professional service

I have worked with these folks for years, on my own house and on projects for design clients of mine. They do great work. They really know their products and the details of the installations. They hit that sweet spot of being very professional without unnecessary showmanship or gimmicks, so I feel like the price is good and the work will be done correctly.

I purchased several large remnants and had the edges bound. I also purchased several pads, including one for a hall runner. When the carpets were delivered, the runner pad was missing.
I went to the store and told them about the omission and told them I preferred a refund for the missing pad. The salesperson disappeared for over 30 minutes. The other salespersons kept assuring me that he was «still checking.»
I kept walking around and at one point could see a worker in back hurriedly cutting the pad. Shortly after, the salesperson came out and told me that he had «found» the pad. No refund for me!
My total purchase was over $ 2000. By not returning the $ 30 I asked for, they convinced me to go elsewhere in the future; nor will I recommend them. Their attitude was off-​putting.

I have had this excellent carpet company now do two jobs for me and both times the service was excellent, the workman showed up right on time (to the minute, even!), and the jobs were done efficiently and at a most competitive price. Mike Sommers is a great sales rep (he also came to my house to make sure everything would be done properly and even gave me a discount at the end since no new padding was needed). Emily is a very good secretary. Would highly recommend for any and all carpeting needs.

I had Dick’s Carpet put in carpeting and vinyl flooring throughout my house and they did a fantastic job. Their bid was the most competitive of any I received, and Mike was a fantastic resource in steering me to the best suited carpeting for the price. I would highly recommend them.

These guys are amazing!!! A++ quality work. I mean they came in and did their measurements and then they got straight to work. The guys were super friendly and they even helped me move my stuff and boy was it a whole lot of stuff!!! However they were up for the job and they did an excellent job at it. I am so thankful and happy with their work. I didn’t get the chance to catch both of their names but one guy I think was name Drew :) I cannot thank them both enough. Even when the measurements were first made John helped a whole bunch too, chocolate is my favorite color and he knew exactly what to pick for me. So all I want to add is that these guys know the business in and out so I definitely want to recommend using them for all your carpet and floor needs cause they can do the job right and fast too. We recently had our hardwood floors refinished and more added. Dan, Jesus and the team were very professional, patient and committed to doing a great job for us. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to refinish or install hard wood floors.

My last few experiences with Dick’s Carpet have not been good. Customer service is poor, getting quotes and or a schedule is impossible. They subcontract the labor and the installers that they use are not very good. They do not perform the work that is in scope. I would not recommend this company.

My sister and I went to shop at Dick’s carpet for our home we’re renting. We worked with Mike Sommers who assisted us in the process. He came to our home and looked at the family room floor and took measurements. He’s very professional, smart and a great person to work with on our project. Oh I forgot he’s also patient because we made several trips to Dick’s before we made up our minds!
We bought more carpet pad and carpet than we planned because the prices were so good.
I would definitely go back should I need more carpet. Thanks Mike for going the extra mile!!!

Mike S was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He helped me find a product they didnt normally carry and he made sure it was ordered and installed properly. However… before I found Mike I had to make a couple of visits and many phone calls to sales staff who were not as knowledgeable or organized. Make sure you find a sales associate you are happy working with and then you will be very happy with Dick’s Carpet. BTW, a little hard to find the first time so if you get lost or turned around just give them a call.

If I could give ZERO stars I certainly would. This company was assigned by my insurance company. They showed no regard for my time or property, didn’t return phone calls from the general contractor, attempted multiple times to lay a vinyl tile floor and after promising they’d have it perfect if they got another chance, they were 90 minutes late with no call or apology. When someone did show up it was 1 person without any new tile or transition strip to replace the one they’d screwed up on the previous visit.

I had to move to other house in kind of storage unit needed to do immediately had to make it sleepable space I had limited money for put floor on this space I was thinking ask to some smaller Chinese floor business but I didn’t wanted defected floor so I call up Dick’s carpet /​floor company because they are guarantee and did great job on last time my house mate put on carpet a year ago… and owner Dan kindly helped me out decided pick and put laminate floor on my space. this company is big and all workers are very professional and hard workers. I highly recommended. Always company big and does complete job like them you should need look for other floor company. I love this company!

They have a large inventory of (large) remnants at the right price. One benefit of the remnants is they don’t have that chemical smell of new carpet.
Oskar was very low pressure and didn’t try to upsell or cross sell or hard close. We were in and out in an hour. The installers arrived on time and finished the job promptly They weren’t very intrusive and left the house as clean as they found it. The scheduler was accommodating. Everybody i dealt with understood the value of good customer service. There was no pressure to pay the bill when they were done on a Friday. They told me Debbie would call monday which she did
I’ll definitely go to Dick’s for my future carpeting needs and I suggest you do the same

I worked with Karise, who was SO sweet and helpful! She had a great attitude and was very customer service oriented. They offered delivery (free if they install, a small fee if they don’t) and because I bought a remnant (amazing prices, BTW!) and was going to install it myself, they cut it exactly to the right size, rerolled it to fit in my car, and carried it out to my car for me. Karise even got me a great cuppa joe while all this was giong on. Two thumbs WAY up for Karise and for Dick’s Carpet One!

We own a few rental properties and we always go to Dick’s, for over ten years now. We have gotten carpeting, vinyl, and bamboo from them. Their prices are great; the installers are hard-​working and very clean. I’ve worked with many different salespeople and all have been helpful, never pushy, and very accommodating. The tenants have all been happy as well.

I work for a general contractor and take clients shopping for finishes for the remodel they are doing. I used to go to Carpet One but, stopped because the place was not really kept up and they had stacks of papers all over the counters. My client called out a certain floor covering and only Carpet One had it so I went back there today with my client. WOW was I surprised. The place was clean and the staff was so helpful. Joe Ray helped us and he was well informed and was able to answer all of our questions. We were wandering around after our appointment with Joe and he made a point to show us what new items were on sale. My client ended up buying a carpet for another part of her house. I will be back because we had a very good experience here.

I didn’t know anything about carpet, and Ian from Sales was very helpful in explaining how and what to do. I bought three area rugs (one made from a remnant, one off the rack, and one custom design) mainly because the service was excellent and the prices reasonable. I will keep Dick’s Carpet on my list.

I recently had all of my floors done by Dick’s Carpet One, hardwood downstairs and carpet upstairs. The entire experience was excellent. In the showroom, we were patiently educated and helped through the selection process without any pushy sales tactics. The installers were on time, very efficient, did a fabulous job and cleaned up everything. When they left, the house was ready to move in. Their attention to detail was amazing. I worked with Dan, the business owner who was extremely helpful and kept everything on time and on budget. I can recommend Dick’s Carpet One without hesitation and will use them again anytime.

Excellent prices. Huge remnants at tremendous markdowns. Owner Dan was very comfortable and knowledgeable to work with. The scheduler Emily, the floor team including Mike, and the installers, Raoul and 2 others, were all efficient, timely and professional. The work looks great. Definitely spend your flooring dollars at this store. Much more for you money.

Terrifically refreshing experience working with Mike in sales & George as our Installer. Mike saved us a bundle w/​his suggestions; his follow up was awesome and he’s a great guy. George is a master: got our bedroom carpet & fancy padding as well as our cork closet flooring completed in 1 day and he removed all traces of the work! Highly recommended!

Dick’s Carpet One of Oakland just finished yet another flooring job for me. I have used them for the past 9 years, and this carpet installation when smoothly — without a hitch!
This project entailed runners up a staircase with dowels and also hallway runners. Installing the carpet up the stairs was a huge concern because of the nature of the job, but everything was done perfectly as promised.
In the past, I have used Dick’s Carpet One of Oakland to purchase family room and living room area rugs. Prices, customer service and follow-​up was excellent.
Also, I selected the store to replace all of the bedroom carpeting. We used different colors in each room, which requires more attention to detail. Everything turned out well and again I felt the pricing was the best in the area.
Since these projects went well, I also had them refinish our hardwood floors down a long hallway and install the runners. Furniture had to be moved and the installers were trustworthy, professional and careful.
Dan Biles, the NEW Owner, is someone I have done business with here for 9 years, and I recommend him and the store highly!

Been over to Dicks approximately 3 – 4 x for tiles/​laminate/​carpeting needs, but they have never failed to have poor customer service. Even though they are virtually never busy, they have no desire to help you. When we do have questions, they may not know the answer (for example why this certain type is better that, etc), but they do not make an effort to find the answer. Do not shop here. There are other places in the East Bay!!!

Our experience with Dicks Carpet ranks right up there with one of the worst we’ve ever had dealing with contractors. If you ever have the opportunity to have Dicks Carpet One of Oakland in your home, don’t just walk away — RUN!
Here’s what you can expect from Dicks Carpet One of Oakland:
1. Total lack of respect for the customer’s time (or property)
2. Questionable business practices (Double check your invoices and your contract!)
3. «Bonded and Insured» means nothing (Install that nanny cam now!)
4. Poor workmanship (See pictures of Dicks Carpet One work)
5. Top of their field in the art of «the customer the run around»
6. They really do «treat your home like their own» (think clogged toilet)
7. Higher prices than their competitors
When we agreed to have a vendor in our insurance company’s flooring network complete our repairs, we had the misfortune of having Dicks Carpet One of Oakland assigned to us.
The workmen showed up when it was convenient — for them. A start time of 9:00 am meant they were likely to roll in sometime around 10:00 or 11:00 am. Some days they didn’t show up at all. (Not real convenient for working people like us). It was relatively useless to contact the Dicks Carpet One coordinator. He was like a never ending tape loop of excuses. (Probably gets a lot of practice…)
Before starting the work, a big batch of lumber was delivered to our home to acclimate prior to installation. A week later, the workmen came and used 2 single boards from the 3 large stacks. They hammered down all the warped areas and slapped some wood putty filler over the entire floor. When they left they took all the «extra» lumber. As our contract noted there would be 100 square feet of wood flooring replaced, we contacted the vendor coordinator. He told us they took it back to the warehouse to do precision cutting and pattern matching. Check out the pictures and you tell me where «pattern matching» came in. Dick’s repair job looks nothing like the beautiful pre-​flood parquet flooring I had. In the pictures you can see large headed black nails they used to secure the light oak flooring.
I don’t know what «dustless sanding» is supposed to look like, but I’m pretty sure it shouldn’t leave a THICK BLANKET OF SAWDUST on everything — including the walls and inside the heater vents. (The vents the coordinator said would be taped off) I kept asking for a time line of when the varnish would be started. They kept saying they’d let us know. We came home from work one night and nearly stepped into the wet stain. I guess that’s what Dicks Carpet One of Oakland considers «notice». Aside from paying extra for «dustless sanding», we were charged over $ 500 for work that wasn’t done. They did remove those charges — after being asked to do so — TWICE.
When the vendor told us the job was finished, we complained that the flooring had a scratchy feel. The dust mop would «catch» and when I’d run my hand across the floor and I could almost feel the splinters. We complained to the vendor’s coordinator and were told that «that’s what new flooring feels like, you’re just used to your old floors which are worn down from years of use.» (If you’re looking for good customer service, this isn’t the place.)
Aside from several unpleasant interactions with them, one of our prized antiques «disappeared». Their workmen were the only ones who had authorized unsupervised access to the premises. We did report the incident to Dick’s Carpet. Their general manager, Dan contacted me and noted they had completed an internal investigation and none of his people would do such a thing. He suggested it must have been «one of those other vendors». As far as theft (alleged) goes, unless you have a video of the act in progress, you’ve got nothing.
We brought in another vendor (of our choice) to clean up after Dicks Carpet One. He noted several possibilities for the way the flooring turned out — all of them pointing to sloppy workmanship. Take a look at the pictures and you’ll see what a $ 8,000 job from Dick’s Carpet One in Oakland will get you.
Bottom line: This is not a vendor you should even remotely consider for any of your flooring needs — EVER.

Great value and customer service.
My boyfriend and I just moved into a new house and were looking for a good deal on some carpeting for the living room. We stopped by Dick’s over Memorial Day weekend and found some remnant carpet for a great price.
The staff was friendly and helped us pick out carpeting that can withstand traffic from our roommates and dog coming in and out. A huge plus was that we didn’t feel like we were being pushed to buy anything. The staff took the time to answer all the questions we had and the selection was great. They even have green alternative flooring.
We liked that it’s conveniently located by the airport and shopping centers, so we were able to get all of our errands knocked out in one trip.
We’ll be back for the next room we carpet!
