Conference Center At the Cathedral of Christ the Light

Just got home from an all-​day meeting here. Beautiful outside… inside rooms rather like… conference rooms. No cell signal in the basement where the meeting rooms are located. I walked to the door facing Harrison St. to get an ATT signal. Free wi-​fi with a password. Spacious, can be chilly. Well, that’s just like a hotel — wear layers and prepare for cold or warm. The catering was standard sandwiches, cookies and sodas/​coffee/​tea. Wait staff very pleasant and helpful. Parking also at basement level.

I couldn’t wait to write this review. If you read my reviews, you will know that a great tragedy has befallen my family. One of my many cousins has recently passed, he was only 40 and the family is still in shock.
My family had reserved Conference Room C for his post funeral meeting place. The mausoleum is a small space and could not contain the many mourners that had come so we asked all those that were not direct family to head to Conference Room C. It was only 12.30 and the caterers told that we would not be arriving until 1pm. Considerate of our grieving state, they opened our Room C prior to our 1pm set time so our guest would have an area to convene.
Honestly, I can’t really talk about their catering offerings because I was not a part of the planning, but along with the pre-​ordered catering fare they allowed us to bring in our traditional Vietnamese foods.
I can say that the mix of their catered fare and the Vietnamese foods were the perfect mix.
I know caterers are there to provide a service but we really stressed their capacity. We had expected 120 people and over 200 came to mourn my dear cousin. They were flexible and accommodated our every request.
The catering manager even overheard my nephew and nieces talking about how we should have ordered sloppy joes because that was my cousin’s specialty and surprised us with a plate of sloppy joes. That to me, is above and beyond the call of duty.
Trust me, we were difficult. We were all grief stricken and underestimated the services that we would need. The staff was always courteous and accommodating. I can never thank them enough for working with us in such difficult times.
