What else could I ask for in a tax professional? Chris is meticulous, smart, knowledgeable, kind and responsive. This was the first time I used a preparer since I usually do my taxes myself. I had a few changes in my life this last year that made my returns a bit more complicated so I decided to try to seek assistance. Chris was exactly what I was looking for and the process was easy. I recommend his services without reservation.

I found Chris in my neighborhood (thanks fellow Unilocalers!) and was very happy with my experience. Chris is very knowledgeable about tax law with meticulous attention to detail and has a sincere interest in helping his clients, what more can you ask for in an accountant? Not only were my taxes done in a timely fashion but I learned some helpful tips for next year’s return and actually enjoyed the process.

Chris Detzer has been doing my taxes for 5 years. He notices details which others seem to miss, and helps his clients immensely. He also helps you assess your priorities regarding whether you want to zero out for the next year, or get a refund and will actually follow up on this. He is fast, never makes errors and is funny. I have to say he is the best accountant I have known or heard of in the Bay Area. I know he also has the capacity to work well with big businesses, because he has a history of helping Amoeba go from one phase of its existence, to a much more successful phase. Chris Detzer did my 2011 tax return spending all the time I needed on the phone to explain my tax circumstances. He looked at my 2010 return from H&R Block saying that they made a mistake that cost me over $ 100. The particular guy at H&R Block refused to fix it so Chris offered to help me out on this issue. Finally H&R Block admitted their mistake and I got my money refunded to me. I won’t be going to H&R Block again. Chris had my back!
Chris is accurate with his work, passionate about people getting treated fairly, and a super fun guy to speak to.

Chris just did my 2012 taxes, charging me way less than H&R Block and I know that he did a great job (again).
