B Ghassemi, DDS

I had never had a cavity in my life, until I went to Dr. Ghassemi and all of a sudden I had a ton. $ 1500+ with my insurance. A ton of fillings. I had two cavities filled and had planned on going back for more — until the reps starting getting really pushy about scheduling my next visits. Like 2 – 3 phone calls a week. The cavities I had gotten were super rough in texture — but since I hadn’t had cavities before, I thought this was normal for fillings. Hence, I decided it wasn’t a good fit and did not go back.
Fast forward to close to two years later, and I saw a great new dentist in the city. Turns out I don’t have any cavities. I got checked twice just to be sure. My new dentist used an FDA approved computer program to also scan for cavities between all of my teeth. Nothing. He also let me know what a poor job Dr. Ghassemi did on the fillings. He showed me photos of how rough and deep the fillings were — when it was likely I didn’t need them. Noted that it was clear they were very rushed.
Needless to say, I’m horribly disappointed to have learned all of this and I can’t recommend Dr. Ghassemi.

I was his patient for about 2 years. I lived 35 miles away but liked his service, so I stayed with him as long as I could. He was thorough, honest and accommodating. He properly treated me, provided me with options and did his best to keep me current with my treatment so that I could get the highest coverage from my dental plan. His staff was always on point, very courteous and highly professional. I wish I could afford to drive that far to see him more, but alas, I cannot and must find a local dentist now, but since I never testified about the high quality of service he delivers, I thought that I should, especially since some are giving him poor or mediocre reviews. I know as a former educator that my best students often did not create online reviews; instead, they tended to be created by my worst students who sought to cause me harm. I am trying to pay it forward here by thanking Dr. Ghassemi for the wonderful treatment I received from him when I had chronic conditions that he was able to heal. I hope that others who more reasonably can get to his office will take advantage of this gifted dentist and the admirable practice he runs.

I have been looking for a good, honest dentist for years and I am so happy to have found Dr. Ghassemi and his staff. every time I go in they see me at scheduled time and I don’t have to wait hours. everyone is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Ghassemi is a great dentist and also for every procedure provides me with different options. I get to ask him questions and he is always very helpful with his explanations and helps me choose the best choice for my situation. I have been going here for about 5 years now, and have referred many friends all of which have been extremely happy with the service they have received.

Went to a new dentist, after I got a 5 second cleaning here… dr. Antonio Bistrain is by far the best dentist around. Babak is the worst I’ve ever been to. He didn’t even clean my teeth! No polish either. What a waste of money. And the other dentist saved me over 2k!

After a figorous search, my family and I are patients at Summit Dental, I must says they’re customer service and expertise in all areas of Dentistry is far above all dentists that I have had in tue past. I have truly searched numerous dentist throughout the Bay area and beyond for over a year, I needed extensive work done to my teeth and let’s face it, a good Dentist is hard to come by! But by the grace of God, he led me to Summit Dental and Dr. Ghassemi. They have outstanding customer service which puts you at ease when you walk through the front door, peace of mind is most important! Dr Ghassemi then does a free thorough exam and without using large medical jargon that most people would not understand, Dr Ghassemi explained in precise detail wihat my teeth needed. Well to make a long story short Summit Dental was the best choice! My teeth are beautiful after 6 months of work, if you are in need of an implant I also recommend Dr. G.

I have been a patient here for ten years now. Dr. Ghassemi always takes the time to see me personally. My previous dentist found a cavity every single time I saw him. I have not had a cavity since I started seeing Dr. Ghassemi. I really think my previous dentist performed unnecessary procedures. I have found Dr. Ghassemi to be honest and caring.

This office is close to home for me. Its a bit hood, but the price is right. My initial exam and rays were fine, and the hour in which they drilled and filled my cavities went by very quickly.
Only star reduction is because the oral surgeon isn’t available very often and also I had a few shards of filling left in my mouth the day after (which is pretty normal after a first brushing, but unpleasant).

Giant high five to Dr. Babak Ghassemi for helping me out with a botched procedure by Dr. Hariri-​Vijeh, giving me a non-​panic-​attack-​inducing painkiller, explaining everything he was doing, and just being really competent and fast. What a man. His staff are nice too.

I went here because I had some crappy dental insurance, and this was one of the only places I could find. The office was crowded with some pretty scary looking people. (then again, this is downtown Oakland – what should I expect?)
I am very dental-​phobic, and when I found out I needed not one but two cavities, it was not pretty. The kind doctor (a young man, can’t remember his name) prescribed me Valium – thank God! But I’m not sure if he didn’t explain the directions, or give me the proper dose, or what, but I was definitely not calm during the procedure. Truthfully, I had a mild panic attack in that chair. Not pretty.
I really don’t like the way I was constantly called to make follow-​up appointments. I’m glad I have better insurance now!

I had the same experience. These folks are ALL about the money. The first thing they do every time I come in is get the money upfront (even though I have insurance). Then they xray me repeatedly (to determine which dozen cavities they’re going to try to convince me to replace with $ 1000-​a-​piece crowns, to see if the crown fits my mouth, to see just how much radioactivity my body can stand). Then they call EVERY GODDAMN WEEK to bug me about coming in for more of those $ 1000 crowns!

Dr. Ghassemi is very efficient and good at his work! He is also kind and takes time to answer your questions and tend to any other concerns if any. If your appointment is at 900 you are seen at 900! very little to no wait time unless an emergency comes up! I was a little apprehensive at first to go to the dentist b/​c its been years! But given the amount of work i had done while i was younger, Dr. Ghassemi was very fair and honest regarding the work i needed now! His prices are very fair (crowns, etc) compared to other dental offices! his office staff are friendly and very accomodating with payment plans and scheduling.
