Awful service experienced. To begin, walked in and was told a 15 min wait for a table. We take a seat at the bar to find out our 15 minute table wait was currently being seated by another couple due to miscommunication within the staff. So an additionally 15 minute is added to our wait. We are finally are seated at our table looking around for our waiter which took about 10 minutes to even ask us what we wanted for our drinks. Upon being served drinks, we’re told that there are no longer enough chips for the complimentary chips and salsa. Waiter was nice enough to offer to purchase us a drink because of the wait, but still nonetheless the waiting is absurd. Nice guy though, thank you again. ALMOST an hour into our drinks, 45 – 50 mins tops we finally receive our food. Food was a good experience, had the combination platter. Just poor execution for a dinner night at 645 pm and walking out at 930 pm. My whole evening spent waiting.

Best mexican food in the Oak Creek area. The owner is extremely nice and welcoming. The food has always been fast, tasty, and affordable. The chorizo and eggs are especially good.

This has become one of my go to Mexican spots. Wide menu variety. I would guess I’ve sampled nearly half of it and never been disappointed. Hard to recommend a specific dish as everyone’s tastes for this type of cuisine vary. Just sample away and chances are it will be great. Service has always been prompt and friendly. Not a ton of tables, but a small patio with a few extra is nice on summer evenings. I’m not a margarita drinker but the variety of tequila looks solid. Chips and salsa deal is a little strange. If you want more salsa you have to pay for it. I guess on the plus side I usually eat too many before the meal anyhow so it keeps me in check. Not sure if they offer desserts. If we still have room we usually hit the froyo joint next door. Give these guys a try and you will leave pleased.

What a great find! Stopped on the way to the airport and had the most amazing street tacos! Drinks are amazing too. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back.

This was my first time to El Fogon. I had two great tacos during lunch. The first was Barbacoa, beef simmered in spices until it is tender and melts in your mouth. It was fantastic! The Ground Beef Taco was excellent too. The meat was lean and seasoned just right. The lunch came with house made chips and salsa which were also spot on. I’ll be back!

Great little gem in Oak Creek! We stop there whenever we are in the area. Great staff, great food, best mojito I have ever had and the place is always spotless.

Came here for Chorizo tacos with my buddy. Here is my experience. Environment: The atmosphere is relaxed during the day, but still romantic/cozy. The deep house playing is fantastic and sets a nice club vibe into the place, makes you want to drink. :) I’ve seen this place super crowded at night and I’ been wanting to try it. Food: I got a spicy bloody Mary and its pretty tasty no complaints here. The chorizo isn’t cooked like typical trucks/hole-in-the-wall Mexican places(which I typically prefer) but it was actually really good! Not greasy either. I even opted to try their mole sauce and it was pretty normal mole(I’ve had exquisite mole at Pasquals in Madison/Verona surprisingly.) And believe it or not, mole drizzled on the chorizo tacos is… wow. The mildly spicy chorizo plus the sweet mole create a surprisingly complementary flavor together. Its perfection. Drinks: My friend is on his second margarita and loves it. The bloody Mary is a little watery but over all still good. :) Service: Our waiter David has been fantastic. He checked on us appropriately, was very accommodating, kind, and relatable. I felt like he genuinely wanted us to have a good experience and that is hard to come by. Thank you, David! Conclusion: Would recommend, would visit again!

This place is a hidden gem! Super modern, just beautiful and music is very soft edm. The food was so fresh. The food is so, so good! I had diablo shrimp tacos and the spicy hawaiian tacos with rice and beans. Too bad we don’t live on this side of town because I would be here every week. This place is wonderful!

Kind of a nice little secret tucked away Mexican place. Food is very good and staff is always helpful and understanding particularly if you go in with kids. Kind of strange hours. Food is very good and has some unique stuff.

By far the best Mexican restaurant in the Milwaukee area. My husband and I were starving… thinking we would find the«usual» menu but were pleasantly surprised by the large menu and unique variety of the choices. When our waitress greeted us, she asked if we wanted mild, medium or spicy salsa, which we liked because it gave us the opportunity for choice. My husbands tacos were divine-pork something and mine was vegetarian and also shrimp diablo. By far the best tacos I’ve ever eaten-and we’ve lived all over the country-including Los Angeles. Cant wait to return to try other foods on the menu. Excited to have found this gem.

My husband and I went to this restaurant on a Tuesday for their taco deal. The service was horrible, we had to ask four times for our waiter to bring my husband his soda. The food was cold when it was served and our waiter spent more time flirting with the table next to us then providing us with what we needed that we left very unsatisfied. This is the first restaurant I seriously considered walking out without paying, however, we didn’t. I would say that the service was terrible because it was busy but there were only a few other tables with diners. Overall a really poor experience and we won’t even bother giving it a second chance!

Great place to go in the heart of Oak Creek. Patio dining in the summer will make sure you run into a lot of friends. Food is above average, but we never have any complaints. Claudia makes a mean mojito behind the bar, and who can resist a tasty margarita? Live music some nights is prefect for the little joint which fills up fast during dinner. Great for kids too, mine love their horchata!

If you are looking for great food and margaritas this is the place for you! It’s my family’s favorite Mexican restaurant in Oak Creek! Always friendly and they always deliver great food! Live music brings a great ambiance to your dinner. The place is a little small due to its location, waiting for a table its worth while!!!

First timer. Place is small and cozy. I like that the place appears and is clean. Good service and good food. $ 7.95 lunch specials. Give it a try.

The main reason we wouldn’t come here more for lunch was that they used to have salsa in squeeze bottles and it was the worst. They changed the salsa from the stupid bottles to bowls now, so we’ll be coming back! Yay! The lunch specials are cheap and include a soda. Service can be hit or miss, depending on how busy the place is, but it’s usually pretty quick. A very solid Mexican choice in the Oak Creek area.

Went to El Fogon with a certificate $ 10 off of $ 20. Our food came to $ 22.90. It was happy hour so we had 3 $ 5 margaritas.(The regular price was $ 6.50.) Because we had the certificate we had to pay full price for the Margaritas, however we had already spent over $ 20 on food alone. That $ 4.50 cost you four and a half stars! Muy mal, El Fogon. Muy mal! ****Please disregard the one star rating Unilocal does not allow no stars!**** this was a 0 star visit

The place was busy so we could either wait or pick from the small bar tables/bar. We ended up sitting at the bar which was fine. Margarita blended was flavorful but I am not sure if it had much alcohol in it. Chips were fresh, warm but only came with a small verde salsa. I asked the bartender if we could have red salsa and she forgot. The food came out hot and delicious. Best part of the whole restaurant. The bartender had a hard time taking orders and serving food along with serving drinks. There needs to be a better system when people eat a the bar. Overall a very good Mexican restaurant in Oak creek. I will visit again for the food!

Great Mexican food, good variety, always fresh food. I’ve been here many times… easily the best Mexican food in Oak Creek. They even have breakfast. Some of my favorites include Shrimp ala Diabla, chimichangas, tacos…

Visited once & never need to go back. Starting off: stale, flavorless chips & salsa served in squeeze ketchup bottles — WHAT? We should have left then. My boyfriend hated his margarita, couldn’t even finish it. The dinner was totally«meh» … If you’re looking for an easy Mexican meal just head across the street to Qudoba!

So El Fogon, They’ve definitely improved the menu in terms of layout and options. I really appreciate some of the more authentic items they offer such as: molcajete & parradilla. Also the unique twists such as: the fish and California burritos. The staff is very nice :) Not on the ball at all today, however. Not proactive only reactive my entire visit(on top of giving me someone else’s check). Things happen, I don’t mind — but when it’s a compilation of things at once then it becomes an issue. I desperately wish they would make the food fresh and to order. There’s now way ingredients can be made fresh in the quickness the food arrives to the table. That makes me sad :( If not for that I’d definitely be at four stars! I mean let’s honestly think about this… Qdoba and Chipotle make fresh burritos right in front of you. It is not at all hard or over expectation for a sit down place to construct fresh food. They would want to be superior to Qdoba and Chipotle, I’d imagine? Still a spot I’ll try from time to time. More infrequently after this visit, however. Overall, El Fogon is between average and ok. But there is adequate room to up this place a notch or two if they really wanted to. Tried the California burrito today, it has some crazy ingredients: steak, shrimp, cheese, fries(yes, fries!), pico de gallo and chipotle sauce. I could not detect the chipotle sauce. The shrimp were a nice size although a tad on the«fishy» side. The steak was a bit dry(precooked) thus the entire burrito contents were on the dryer side. The burrito comes out above room temperature but not by a whole lot. The cheese is not even slightly melty inside. I just can’t help but think as I am eating this burrito how much better it would be if made to order. It’s ok, it’s fine but making the shrimp and steak fresh and serving it all a bit warmer, the streak a nice medium… With the sauce I can’t find nice and wet inside… If only. The portion sizes are smaller than most Mexican joints(which do tend to give waaaaY to much anyway). But, I am sad that I ran out of the beans and rice sides before finishing the burrito. There just wasn’t a whole lot there. I did pay $ 2 extra for them after all. I’ll still return once and awhile. Hope they can strive for a higher level, though.
