The Links of Novi

Pros: 27 holes to play, well maintained, cheap ($ 20) with a Group Golfer certificate
Cons: Crowded a lot, bad sand traps, slow play due to extremely difficult holes and the help can be rude on the phone (but they’re cool in person).
The East and West 9-​hole courses will challenge even the single digit handicapper thanks to their long, narrow, tree-​lined par 4s and 5s. Even the par 3s are 200 yards plus. The South Course is the easiest of the three. And for some reason, this course attracts a lot of golfers who are very, very slow. A rating of ³⁄₅ may be a little high come to think about it.

Really enjoy the Links of Novi, play there 3 times during june/​july 2014, course was in wonderful shape and the deals for this course on golf now were incredible. Beautiful 27 holes.

Great course and outstanding service every time I am there. Staff is always friendly and value is second to none.

My wife & I golfed here Friday night. We were told to play the south course then check in with the pro shop for which course to play after that. The pro shop did not have a «pro» there, just some chick acting like one. The south course was nice, just some minor damage to some of the greens.
When we reached the 9^th hole we called ahead for dinner. Only then we learned that the kitchen was closed. Really? On a Friday at 6pm? They had an outing there, and the chic at the bar kept telling us to eat the ribs. I reminded her we were not part of the outing… So the kitchen staff got off their a** and made us some sandwiches.
Next, we were told by the chic in the pro shop to play the east course. After a perfect drive off the tee, some jerk comes out and asks us to play the west instead. He said it was because they had an outing. But no one was on the east course! So literally I told him to go back and tell his boss I said no. Which he did. No once bothered us after that.
The east course kinda sucks if you’re not really really good. Several holes have very tight fairways that are sloped dramatically to one side. Even a good straight drive won’t stay in the fairway.
Overall I think the problem here is they have no capable manager running the place. Little kiddies try to get you set… but you can tell they themselves have on idea what they’re doing. We won’t be back.

This course has some of the worst greens around. Seems like the greens keeper is clueless. Last year were like shag carpeting and this year horrible (but winter to blame some). There are way better places to play and with much better service and staff. I would consider going elsewhere.

Very nice golf course. It’s designed extremely well and is fairly challenging. Greens were not in great shape, but after this harsh winter, I can definitely understand the early season troubles with them. Ib would have given the course 5 stars, however, my foursome played behind an incredibly slow foursome, and the ranger never sped up their play. Not a huge deal, but the rangers could be a little more attentive to people’s pace of play. Well over five hours seemed like too long for 18 holes. Aside from that, I would definitely return.

I called ahead to make a tee time for a single walker, they said no need for a tee time we will get you in, I drive 25 minutes, upon arrival I was told NO! Maybe in a couple of hours! What a way to do business! To bad the personell doesn’t live up to the course! Shameful!

I like this place — the South 9 is a good run. I did 18 holes here and liked it enough to keep on coming back. The other golfers here are friendly even if you almost kill them with a ball — I sliced pretty bad with a wicked right and almost took out a guy on his cart — we laughed about it. OOPS. sorry.
No problem here with the carts or layout — but this one thing kind of irked me. 8 Guys were roaming around putting randomly and purposely knocking balls into my game and then driving down on carts and then taking shots into other greens — its absurd but nobody stopped them. I reported them at the club house and hopefully someone will do something about it.
Other than that… I liked the energy of this place.

I was in a golf outing here and they did a great job of organizing the outing. The course was in good shape (the south nine is the most fun) After golf they served a steak and baked potato dinner. The strip steak was grilled on site. I am not much of a steak fan, but this was one of the best steaks I have ever had. I asked the griller how he made it so good and he said they marinated the steaks overnight and then used a secret rub before grilling to a perfect medium rare point. It was so tender you could almost cut it with a fork. The big flaw in the dinner was the green beans. They looked delicious, but were terrible. They were not cooked to a tender point, instead they were tough and bland. If the green beans had been cooked properly I probably would have given a four star rating.

This is a nice layout but has supposedly been bought for development. It is still in operation while waiting on the development to begin (if it ever does with this economy?) and the course looks like it. Greens and fairways are serviceable but not great. Facility is beginning to look run down. Price is good though so take advantage of a cheap round of golf. Twilight play after the leagues is extremely reasonable but crowded.

When I heard there was a Lynx in Michigan I had to search it out.
This lynx turned out to be one of the best links courses in the Detroit area.
This is a great layout 27 hole golf course. There are three nines, an East course, South course and West course. Each course is equally challenging in a different way. The East course is a longer course for someone who likes to hit their woods. The South course is very difficult through the woods with narrow fairways and a few elevated greens. The West course is challenging with some woods, water holes and a few longer par 5 holes. Their rates are very reasonable in the Detroit area, $ 20 for nine and $ 30 for eighteen. Nice clubhouse to relax in and and toss down a few cool ones on the 19^th hole. They cater to golf outings as well with a fairly large and spacious banquet facility. They also have golf leagues.
Definitely worth trying for nine holes. The only problem is deciding which nine.
OK, I had a bad day here playing, I shot a 49 on the East, my woods sucked, should have left them in my bag. Then I shot a 48 on the South, I lost a few balls in the woods, couldn’t hit ‘em straight. Total, 97.
Oh well, it’s a good thing I didn’t quit my day job
