We offer a variety of free weights, Strive machines, Hammar Strength equipment, cardio machines, and group exercise classes (Zumba, Cycle, Yoga, etc.). We also have ChildWatch on site to watch your children (ages 7 weeks to 7 years) while you work out. As an added bonus, your membership includes access to the Marin YMCA on weekends.

Overall I’m not a gym person, here is the first place that I like to go every day! It’s not crowded and has a good atmosphere.
Lovely teachers and friendly staff! And also it is a very clean gym
I recommend this gym to whoever like to workout in a friendly environment.

Terrible experience at the pool. Marin YMCA pool closed his week, supposed to be able to use the pool at Hamilton. Foolish young girl who said she was in charge would not let me in the pool. It was not crowded but she claimed there was no lap swimming until 5pm. I explained that I was not there to lap swim but to get some much needed work on my recent broken arm and wrist. My shoulders need work too and walking in the water and moving them is best.
Not being allowed in the pool is unacceptable!

Convinient location and competitive price. It is a very tiny gym but they got everything from squat rack to bench press. Shower and locker room are tiny. I give it 4 star since there is no hair dryer and u need to bring ur own towel.

I haven’t taken any of the classes at the Y — but I love working out at the Novato facility. The Marin facility feels cramped and crowded, I don’t feel like that in Novato. Not as many people workout in Novato — at least not the hours that I’m there. The staff is super friendly — and will chat with you while you’re working out, but smart enough to realize when you just want to have your music on and do your thing. They’re also always willing to jump in with a tip — or something new to try.
I train with Matt who’s phenomenal! Each week he focuses on something different, and gives me workouts to do during the rest of the week to reinforce what we’ve been training. I recently decided to sign up for Tough Mudder — and asked Matt to help me get ready — and he came to our next training with a full plan!
As others have said, it may not be the biggest & fanciest gym — but does it need to be?

Originally I gave 3 stars.
The gym has improved, I like that there is a younger crowed here vs. Marin Y. They have music on sometimes but might as well have it off. Because of the crappy approved play list. If they turned on the Radio like the Presideo Y in SF does that plays 99.7 would completely make it a different experience.
The staff is awesome and personable, great classes for the wife and me, cycle, yoga and Body Pump rocks and all the classes play good music (Just not the main room?)
4 Stars because its as good as it gets for Marin Y’s but the music improvement would definitely get the 5 stars.
Also a towel service like the Marin Y would definitely keep everyone and everything cleaner.

I gave it 4 because, well, primarily because I live 100 yards away.
I run and do spin here at least once a week. I also do weights once or twice a day — I can always find a bench typically for free weights. The bikes are pretty nice for Spin as well. They let you use the Marin YMCA on weekends, but it bugged me that they gave me a hard time when I went there after 7pm on Friday and said that wasn’t permitted (they close early on Fridays in Novato).

The YMCA staff got to the bottom of the billing issues and we got it all straightened out. I don’t know if it was my bad luck or if there are paperwork organizational issues, but the gym is clean, quiet, and pleasant to work out at. A serious athlete might prefer more Hammer Strength type machines, but you can get a great workout here for at affordable rate.

This place may not be as big or as fancy as other gyms, but it has a nice, friendly atmosphere. The equipment here is newer than the equipment at the Marin Y.
What makes this place fun are the 5 Zumba classes each week. The teacher is supportive and the students are all friendly and have a great time. The staff members behind the desk are also helpful and courteous.
Although towels are not handed out at this facility, the shower rooms are really nice and clean.
