Today I called the doctor’s offices to get help with my wife’s father who has been a long standing patient of these offices for many years. He is now 92 years old, has Alzheimer’s, cannot walk and is in a nursing home. He broke his eye glass frames and they cannot be repaired. He is practically blind without his glasses. When I explained the situation to the receptionist, she looked up his records and said because the prescription is over five years old, there is nothing they could do. Really? He physically and mentally cannot take an eye test and yet they cannot duplicate the prescription or provide any help whatsoever! So I guess he has to stay blind because his doctor refuses to do anything! I thought doctors were there to understand the situation and provide help to their patients. These offices are rude, condescending and very anti patient. I would hate to have this office as my eye care provider. Make sure you never have Alzheimer’s or you will stay blind. They obviously don’t seem to care.

First off, the front office girls couldn’t be more rude and less interested in helping you if they tried. They are always on their cell phones and on the Internet on their computers. God forbid you need to make another appointment or have a question because they could absolutely care less about helping you and if you interrupt them to do so, you are met with scowls, eye rolls and bored sighs. At best, they do the absolute minimum at their desks bordering on putting their feet up and telling you to quit interrupting their phone and Internet time, oh and you will never be greeted as you enter and never a smile, or a, «How can I help you?» Second, the wait time is minimum 45 minutes and sometimes up to an hour and a half even if you are the first appointment in the morning or first after lunch. Oh yeah, don’t bother the front office girls about the wait because they are busy on their cells and don’t give a crap about your wait. I’ve mentioned the long waits to the Dr. and he never really acknowledges the comment or apologizes, he just kind of blows you off every time with a ridiculous, «yeah it’s a little busy today.» Really? Even when I’m first in the morning or after lunch? Finally, Dr. Schultz and his chair side assistants never read the schedule or your chart it seems because every time we come in, they always say, «So why are you here today?» Really, do I really need to go over my entire history every time because you can’t be bothered to open my chart? I can’t wait until my insurance changes so I can find a Dr. and office staff who actually respect and value their patients.

It’s about knowledge and patient care. Been going to the office for 46 years, first the dad, David, then the son, Mitchell. Both are top notch. Made the mistake of switching to an ophthalmologist closer to home one year, and an avalanche of errors. The 35 mile drive to Mitchell Shultz is well worth the trip. Don’t be fooled, they are not all the same. Family and friends are all now patients and /or had lasik. Top notch.

Dr. Shultz is an outstanding ophthalmologist. .. very skilled and knowledgeable. His opticians are equally courteous and professional. He has state of the art equipment and a beautiful office. I highly recommend Dr. Shultz!
