Alisha Tamburri and her Hypnobirthing class truly changed my husband and I and brought us so much closer together. The technique’s involved and the lessons really helped us find clarity with a lot of issues and questions we had. Alisha is so gentle with her approach that you want to listen, you want to engage and you want to learn everything she has to offer. I want to take the class again! I’m also looking into doing a private hypnotherapy session as well. I highly recommend this class and Alisha for expecting parents. It will completely enrich your experience, I promise!

Amazing teacher!!! Alisha is extremely supportive during her sessions and when speaking with outside of class. She truly wants to be of help as much as possible. I learned many techniques in her class, and the birth videos help with visualizing my own birth. Hearing birth stories of others that had previously taken class were wonderful as well. You will leave with an increased confidence in your desire for a beautiful hypnobirth.

Alisha is an absolute Godsend. I recently finished her hypnobirthing class series in Beverly Hills, and my husband & I enjoyed every session. We both adore Alisha and she has completely transformed my mentality from viewing birth as a traumatic and scary experience, into a beautiful one that I feel fortunate & even look forward to experiencing. I think that’s one of the most important things I gained from this, just a complete mentality change and being able to view birth differently has helped keep me calm and relaxed. This review is long overdue. I’ve used Alisha’s services for years and can’t rave enough about everything she has done for my family and I. I will mention the most notable…
Many years ago I was in a horrible 3 car collision that left me unconscious with a concussion and brief loss of memory. Aside from the aches and pains and my 6 month old brand new car being totaled, my biggest issue was reliving the sequence of events trying to remember what happened. I was hesitant to do hypnotherapy because I was not a «believer»…I was desperate so I tried… after less than 5 minutes of hypnotherapy it all came back! Alisha got my subconscious to a safe place and I remembered everything — this was still scary to cope with, but much better than the unknown which caused me to replay the accident over and over because I just wanted to know what happened.
Fast forward to many years later, now married and expecting the biggest blessing… a baby boy. One of my biggest fears in life was BIRTH. After the 1^st couple hypnobirthing classes, my fears were gone! I was still anxious for all of the unknowns but felt I had all the tools I needed. They call it labor for a reason, it’s WORK to create another human being but it was the most amazing and positive experience of my life, 21 hours of labor (14 at home) and only 8 minutes of pushing and I even got to «catch» my own son. It was such a peaceful way to bring a child into the world; quiet, whispers, dim lights and calming music. My son was so blessed to experience his 1^st moments in the world so calm and joyous.
Now my son is almost 3 years old and has had his fair share of challenges; saying goodbye to his pacifier, his bottles, sleep issues, learning how to pee standing and so much more. Alisha has been there to help with all of those difficult transitions. Our son requests Alisha’s hypnosis «music» (as he calls it) every night. We have several sessions uploaded on his iPod and often set one to repeat throughout the night.
I’ve referred Alisha to many people for various reasons and all have felt the same way as I have — lucky to have an amazing go-​to person for help during tough times or help during the best times.
Alisha takes pride in her work and truly cares about her clients.

(apparently I have to join Unilocal in order to post, but I will absolutely do so for this) This review is looooooooooong overdue. Alisha is such a great person to work with. My wife and I were as ill-​prepared as two procrastinators can be with our birthing preparation. We both kept «thinking» about doing something, choosing a method, doing exercises, which classes to take, which books to read… we thought and thought and thought about it for about 7 ½ months (from when we found out we were going to have a baby up to the moment I contacted Alisha). Now that sounds like plenty of time to get everything ready, take as many classes as one could take with the fabulous Alisha, but no, I called her from work on a Thursday evening (because my wife, who was 8.5 — 9 months pregnant, called and said she’d been feeling Braxton Hicks contractions and we should get ready). I freaked out, because we wanted to do a natural birth (she wanted no pain killers, no pitocin, or anything) but yet, we hadn’t done any physical prep for a feat of this magnitude. No stretching, breathing, NADA! I came across Alisha’s hypnobirthing site and thought, «we’re not that ‘crunchy’ or ‘granola’ to actually do hypnobirthing, are we?» (this is not meant to offend anyone, turns out, we’re extremely granola in that sense!!! we loved it, almost did a water birth at home)
Back to the story, I phoned Alisha, most of her classes are multiple sessions spread out over a number of weeks, some were a bit more condensed, but at this point, I knew we didn’t have weeks, I doubted we had DAYS, and it really felt like we only had hours to get ready. She understood, calmed me down, and told me that she could do a private session and give us as much information and techniques as she could that same evening — and I believe she even gave me the number to a Doula before we got off the phone (Jennifer, who rocked!!). I picked up my wife after work, headed to meet with Alisha and she gave us an awesome session that in no way felt rushed or like she was skipping anything. She was very thorough with the information, made sure we understood it, how to communicate our wishes to the hospital staff and then the best part… actually doing it! Before we left, she walked me through leading my wife through a hypno session, I was amazed that it worked — immediately, and I was the one leading her in this.
Long story (not short), that was Thursday night, come early Monday morning we experience real labor «waves» (thank you, Alisha, it’s not a fight!) and we went to the hospital (conveyed our wishes for natural birthing — with no medicinal interference, they understood our desire for a natural birth — including having the baby in whatever position is comfortable) when the waves were about 2 – 3 minutes apart. We get to the hospital around 10:30am, and welcome my baby girl to life on this side of the belly before noon. No pain meds, no pain, she just felt the pressure and went with it — we hadn’t even filled out our check-​in paperwork it went so quickly. I did the techniques we were taught on the ride to the hospital and when we got to the room, and our Doula was there to help us as well. Just an overall great experience. I have owed this review for a little over a year now… she’s worth every star available! Soak up as much as you can get from her, she’s a very giving and nurturing professional who is phenomenal at what she does. Thank you for your help, Alisha!!! Oh yeah, her Relaxation techniques are a must… I might try one this evening!

Hooray for Hypnobirthing! My husband and I took Alisha’s class to try to prepare ourselves for a natural childbirth, and boy did we achieve it! First baby, 5.5 hour labor, no epidural! Whee!!!
I had been terrified of birth, and initially panicked upon finding out I was pregnant thinking «now that it’s in there, I’m going to have to give birth to it!». My mother had labored with me for 16 hours with no progress and then had an emergency c-​section, and so had all of my aunts with their children, so those stories were all I had to go on, and I had been assured «oh you’ll need a c-​section just like us». Great… This course was fundamental to shifting my mindset and undoing the damage of those stories so that I could relax into the birthing process and have the 5 hour labor I ultimately achieved.
First let me say that we only took Alisha’s course (no doula or hypnotherapy services), so all of the skills we learned in her class we had to practice on our own (practice is CRUCIAL to success!), but the course was an excellent and necessary foundation from which to work. She provided lovely videos and images to fill my mind with how a natural birth could look, and taught us the breathing exercises that got me through labor (horse breathing!). I listened to the CDs and guided imagery daily, (multiple times per day in the weeks leading up to delivery), and that helped exponentially. The book was also SO helpful, as not only did it show that hypnobirths were possible, but also taught me how the muscles of my uterus work so that I understood what was happening during contractions and didn’t fight against my body, which I believe was why my labor was so short. We have less fear about things that we understand, so in that way, the book and course helped to relieve the fear-​tension-​pain cycle that I believe causes great distress in most women’s labors.
We took the course in June and delivered in early October, so the timing was good, I felt, to give me time to fully understand the course material and book, listen to the CDs a lot, and then practice breathing and getting my mind «right» once I felt I got the hang of it.
To be honest, contractions still hurt a lot — I felt uncomfortable but not in pain for about a week leading up to labor, and then when labor began, I was apparently already in the transition phase, so it got intense very fast. When I got to the hospital 2.5 hours after contractions started, I was already dilated to 8 cm! I believe that’s because that first week was my ‘early labor’ and when contractions started, I was already in transition. When the intense pain and transition contractions began, I was able to relax and ‘horse breathe’ and basically become a ball of putty so my body could do its thing. It worked.
Honestly I kept telling myself throughout my pregnancy «I want to be one of those women who’s oblivious to early labor and then just suddenly realizes she’s having contractions and goes to the hospital and has her baby,» and as Alisha kept saying «envision the birth you want, you’ll have what you envision», that’s exactly what I got! If you can get rid of the fear and let your positive self-​talk and imagery blossom, you can have it. I am proof, I never thought I’d be able to do it, but I was.
If you’re seeking a natural labor, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this class and its book/​CDs as a foundation, and if you’re really struggling to undo years of fright about labor, also read Ina May Gaskin’s books (I read her 2^nd one, it was a wonderful compliment to this course). Practice practice practice, how much effort you put in is crucial to how much you get out, listen to the meditations, and let the fear release! If you truly feel prepared, unafraid, and ready for labor, it is the best gift you could ever give yourself, and you’ll have the birth you envision.

Long story short… I am so thankful I had the opportunity of finding and taking Alisha´s classes. I can’t say enough good things about Alisha. She came highly recommended to me by a good friend. The four sessions of hipno birth that we had with her just got better and better. I would never thought that having some hipno-​birth classes would be so helpful and inspiring at the same time. She has tons of experience is always willing to help you with any question you have regarding your pregnancy. I had to agree with the other reviews she is simply amazing!!!

Alisha is a true Angel! The things she taught us in her hypno birthing class were life changing because our first Birthing experience (before meeting Alisha and taking her class) was not ideal and after taking her class for the 1^st time on our second birth we had the most beautiful experience thanks to all of the invaluable things we learned from her. So much so we decided to ofcourse take her class for our third. We highly rec. her class to anyone who is pregnant and wish we had met her even sooner but so grateful we were lead to her in time for our second and third. Whether it is for Birth or for any other Hypnotherapy enrichment Alisha is the real deal and leaves you feeling clam and capable. She was a true blessing to us:)

I was referred to Alisha by my midwife Simona Istrate. I’m a second time mom going for a VBAC and I must admit Before I attended her class I had self doubt. I enrolled into her hypnobirthing class and all I could think of is why I didn’t know of this class with my first pregnancy. My husband and I learned so much and she gave me the confidence I needed to have a natural birth after C section. I feel that had I attended her class for my first pregnancy I could have avoided so many interventions that ultimately led to my c-​section. You come out feeling empowered!
I believe every woman should take a hypnobirthing class if a natural birth is the plan. Alisha made us feel as if we’ve known her for a very long time. She brings a lot of great energy and peace within you.

Alisha is a gift from Heaven! I wrote a long review about her masterful hypnotherapy skills and her phenomenal leadership and care in the birthing community as a doula and hypnobirthing instructor; however, my review somehow got erased…
So, let me keep this short and brief.
You are in the best hands no matter what you go to Alisha for!
I have received hypnotherapy from Alisha — PHENOMENAL! I was in one of the deepest relaxed states I’ve ever felt during our session and the gift of the session keeps giving and giving, as she recorded my session and gave it to me afterward!
Alisha is also a mentor to me as a hypnobirthing doula. I am in awe of how she spends hours and hours and hours of her time assisting women and their partners in having the best possible experience through pre-​conception, pregnancy, birth and postpartum. She has been in the birthing community for over a quarter century here in L.A. and she knows just about EVERYONE and has a keen sense of how to connect people (helping mamababy & their partners find the perfect doctor, midwife, chiropractor, physical therapist, acupuncturist, prenatal massage therapist, placenta encapsulator, doula, postpartum doula, etc.) She is a «trouble-​shooter» and will help see her clients aalll the way through any issue until they are on the sunnier side of things. She is also a deeply spiritual being, and respectful of everyone’s beliefs. She has a way of helping you remember that all is well and that there is a solution to any problem. Alisha is also, in my opinion, one of the best educators of birth and hypnobirthing. I have attended her full 4 week hypnobirthing class twice. I tell all my doula clients about Alisha and those who attend her class are always extra prepared and at ease with the birthing process.
One quick story, because this is short (relative to my last review!)
I recommended one of my doula clients attend Alisha’s hypnobirthing class. She had had 2 rather traumatic hospital births. She told me she felt there was a «key» somewhere that she needed to find that would unlock something within her and allow for a beautiful natural birthing experience. When I recommended Alisha’s class, she attended the first 3 classes (traveling from Orange County to L.A.) and read the hypnobirthing book. We did a little hypnosis together. She didn’t make it to the 4^th class because her baby was born by then… She had an all natural birth in Orange County in a hospital that is not «natural birth» friendly. In fact, the staff had never witnessed a hypnobirth (unlike many hospitals in L.A. who are quite familiar with hypnobirth and natural birth). The staff was in awe as she listened to her hypnobirthing cd and brought her baby into the world with no directed pushing. She said that birthing her baby didn’t hurt this time and that she herself didn’t push, her body did it automatically. There was very little blood, so much so that there was no need for pitocin to prevent hemorrhaging (which was routine at this hospital). All the staff was in awe of this natural hypnobirthing mama and baby! This mama is now a huge advocate of hypnobirthing and of Alisha’s class! As am I!

One of the most powerful things about having a natural birth experience was having the power and ability to work with my wife through the intensity, pressure and mild discomfort while she breathed her baby down during her surges. She tells other that her birthing experience was just perfect. There was harding any discomfort and she never once had anything she can describe as «pain» during the entire process. The whole process from start to finish was about 7 hours and a natural birth in water was the result. My little girl is so calm and relaxed, super healthy and I attribute much of it to her relaxed birth and my wife’s relaxed labor.
Now if the above words sound intriguing or interesting to you, I recommend completely taking Hypnobirthing with Alisha Tamburri. She is super knowledgeable and very experienced in the process of birth. She empowers you to have your birth your way. She was just one part of our dream team of Hypnobirthing Coach, Doula and Midwife.
I still can just start to recite the words to my wife (or daughter for that matter) at night and with in just a few minutes they are fast asleep or just deeply relaxed.

Wow! I feel so much better after my session last month with Alisha :). I immediately felt safe and comfortable with Alisha. The techniques were gentle and relaxing and incredibly effective because… they actually worked! I feel like a miracle has happened… My sleep is peaceful and dreamy now. The phobia that I had is actually GONE. I’m so relieved and so deeply grateful… Thank you so much Alisha.

My husband and I took Alisha’s HypnoBirthing class and really loved it. I found the scripts very relaxing and listened to them everyday. She showed us several inspirational birthing videos in her class that gave me the courage and strength to believe I could have the unmedicated birth I envisioned. My doula put the scripts on during my labor and I went into the hypnotic state that Alisha had prepared us for. I was able to focus on each surge, taking one at a time, to get through.
We were going through an especially hard time when I was 6 months pregnant; every aspect of our life was hit — family, work, and financial. We met with Alisha outside of class for a session and she wrote us a personalized script to help us turn a corner in our lives. I fell asleep to the script each night and would listen to it again when I woke up at the wee hours of the night. Her words sunk into my subconscious and we were finally able to manifest many positive things in our lives and welcome our healthy baby. We are going to set up another session with her for a new year’s script to set a positive tone for 2014.
I would highly recommend Alisha’s HypnoBirthing class if you want to own your labor and birthing experience. Her customized script can help you bring about the change you desire in your life.

Alisha is an incredible Hypnotherapist and Hypnobirth Practitioner. I have suffered from Panic Disorder and Generalized Anxiety for twenty years. Having a hypnotherapy session with Alisha makes me feel as if I have just taken the best tranquilizer on the planet… but no medication is involved… it is the session! I can’t quite describe the intense feeling of relaxation that takes over you when she works her magic, and it truly is magical! Before the session begins, Alisha sits and talks with you about what you are going through, what you want to work on and what you would like your end result to be. She then gears the session to all of those things. It’s great that she records it on a disc for you to take home, because once I go into the deepest part of hypnosis I don’t hear much. You go in and out of hearing her voice and whatever incredibly relaxing music she plays in the back round. The funny thing is, every time I have a session I always think I won’t go into hypnosis and I ALWAYS do! When I was pregnant with my son 15 years ago, I was experiencing a lot of anxiety about the whole situation about being pregnant, the birthing process and being a new mother. I had a couple of session with Alisha and WOW… the anxiety was gone!!! Whether you want to work on having an incredible birthing experience, anxiety issues, weight issues, business issues… really any issues, Alisha will absolutely change you life in the most amazing way!

I thoroughly enjoyed Alisha’s hypnobirthing class. My husband, who at first didn’t want to spend the money, felt like it was an incredible deal for what we got out of it. You learn relaxation techniques that you can both use your whole life long, as well as of course learning tons of useful information about pursuing a natural, gentle birth.
I also got the added benefit of a lifelong skill for relaxing myself when I’m anxious! I’ve been using the techniques every day and have been sleeping so well at night! Several people in class who used to have trouble sleeping mentioned the same thing. Thanks to Alisha and her HypnoBirthing classes, I wouldn’t have been able to empower myself the way I did during my birth experience. I am so grateful.
I was 38 weeks pregnant with twins (my first pregnancy) and my OB and I were both prepared to deliver these babies vaginally and without drugs. So when at 38 weeks my lab results came back to reveal that I had developed toxemia and cholestasis, my birth plan went completely out the window. After months of preparation and hypnosis, I was determined to see my birthing go a certain way. But when it ultimately came down to the safety of my babies I knew what I had to do. I was able to make a calm, clear and ego free decision about what was best for me and my babies BECAUSE of the HypnoBirthing.
I kept hearing one of the HypnoBirthing affirmations over and over in my head– «I am prepared to calmly meet whatever turn my birthing may take.» And honestly, now that my babies are here, I could care less how they came out of me. Plus, now, I’m using my hypnobirthing and breathing to help with my recovery, and to keep sane during those long sleepless nights.
HypnoBirthing is not just for birthing. It is helping me in every aspect of my life. Alisha was, without a doubt, a necessity in my birthing experience. I couldn’t have done it with such grace without her.

I’ve been blessed to experience Alisha’s work as both a Hypnotherapist as well as a HypnoBirthing teacher/​doula.
A few years back, I was suffering from a challenging case of sciatica. Knowing that sciatica is not only a result of a physical condition, I had a hypnotherapy session with Alisha. She created a fantastic personalized audio CD for me to continue working with. For weeks I’d fall asleep to this CD every night and felt relaxed and comfortable which was so refreshing and healing.
In addition to that, as a doula and childbirth filmmaker, I’ve taken Alisha’s HypnoBirthing training to enrich my knowledge in the birthing process. Alisha is a fantastic teacher, knows her subject well, patient, confident and deeply loyal and dedicated to her students. She was there for them not only during class, but after as well. Her availability and support goes a long way, and I know from many mamas and papas who have taken her class that they are forever grateful for what she’s taught and given them. One mama even called her «my guardian angel.»
Alisha’s dedication to her students and to the birth community in general is selfless. She works closely with many doctors, midwives and nurses, and now more hospitals are accommodating for couples that are having a HypnoBirth. Much of that is thanks to the work that Alisha has done over the years.
I’ve also attended a number of births with Alisha. Witnessing the gift of her presence as a HypnoBirthing doula is inspiring. She is ever so present, calm and supportive of the mother’s process. She also has great relationships with the hospital and home caregivers and is able to lead (and follow!) the mama’s journey with grace. Every woman should enjoy the presence of such a doula!
