Rosati’s Frozen Custard

Went for the first time last week with the family. Prior visit was packed. It’s a small parking lot, too. There were not a ton of choices of flavors, which is a good thing, as far as I’m concerned. They had chocolate, vanilla and a flavor of the day. They were selling quarts of other flavors though. Then you could get their version of a blizzard (a twister I think), shakes, sundaes, smoothies, etc. Service was what you’d expect from a typical ice cream store, about average. Although I must say that Handel’s employees are a cut above most. Anyway, I got vanilla and it was very good… creamy and sweet. The kids got twisters (vanilla with Oreo) and they really liked them. My wife was less impressed with her vanilla and said she preferred Handels. Price was reasonable, although the portion size was a bit small. Again, Handels really piles it on! Overall, I would recommend and go back.

Awesome frozen custard. The most creamy and rich, delicious icecream I think I have ever eaten. Only negative is that it is so popular you will most likely be waiting in line. But well worth the wait.

Shame on me for driving past this place for YEARS without stopping by. Holy. Crap. Their custard is SO EFFING GOOD. Please for God sake, stop by and try them out. You won’t be disappointed.

I love hole in the hall «parking lot ice cream places» and this one delivers. The custard is rich and creamy and delicious. Even when the line looks long they move fast!

A nice variety of custard eats. The only thing I don’t like is how sweet the custard is. Way over the top. Cut the sweetness and it would be perfect (and probably healthier to eat).

Very fun place to get amazing custard! Very old school feel. Great daily flavor specials, I had the cherries jubilee which was amazing. Or you can just stick with vanilla or chocolate which are both perfect. Loooove this place!

Great soft served. Adorable staff. The prices are reasonable and the specialties are to die for. Best custard I’ve had by far.

This is the best soft serve ice cream in NE Ohio!!! Unbeatable quality, the ice cream is so smooth and rich. Rosati’s also has great prices. The best part is the customer service. Brooke was knowledgeable about the menu and extremely sweet!

If you like softserve, look no further than Rosati’s Frozen Custard. Their vanilla and chocolate is quite good but their special flavors are what keeps me coming back. Sometimes I feel the portion size leaves much to be desired (kind of variable – large can sometimes look like a regular), especially compared to Strickland’s. Overall, quite good.

Every town has that small business everyone raves over. Rosati’s is exactly that. It has that family-​friendly, small town, eveyone-​getting-​together vibe. I grew up in the Northfield area and lived by this place. I’ve been here with almost everyone I know!
It’s the best custard I’ve had. I wouldn’t mind if they changed the menu a bit to accomodate certain people with health concerns and such, but the menu is so classic and delicious as it is.
They have a lot of seating in the back, all outdoors. I love walking the track at the middle school in the back or going to the lake to see the ducks.
The fruit blended is good, and well… so is everything else. When living in Ohio, I was always checking the flavors to see what was next. That’s how amazingly good Rosati’s is!

Delicious frozen custard! This place is incredible. You order up and get your custard up at the window, there are a few picnic tables out back to sit at to eat, and a few benches out front. They have a flavor of the day, in addition to the regular vanilla custard. Also have soda floats, flurries, sundaes, etc… The usual staples. Staff here is always friendly also. Great place all around!!!

simply the best custard around, only small quip is sometimes the custard runs more than other times don’t know why that would be, but simply delicious and well worth the trip – if i lived across the street i would weigh about 400 lbs !!

Oh my goodness! Higbee’s Frosted Malt revisited. ESPN Cleveland was going nostalgic and Higbee’s frosted malts came up. Someone tweeted that Rosati’s still sold them. I was born and raised in Cleveland and remember the malted well. My husband and I went to Youngstown for the week-​end and decided to stop by on the way home. Now, these taste a little bit more chocolaty than I remember, but it was still good. I only wanted a cone but had to buy a quart, but I was not mad at that. The people waiting in line and the waitresses were both very nice, but that’s Ohio for you. I have one more place to try before I crown them ‘king’, but they are way up there.

Wow! This custard was fantastic! And what a neat store front too. Cool neon custard sign adds a cool touch. Definitely recommended! My only complaint… The portion was too small for my tastes. They need multiple sizes of their twisters.

Came across this place after visiting Brandywine Falls in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and am very glad I did. Flavors were excellent and the custard was creamy and delicious. I’m reluctant to compare it to East Coast since I grew up frequenting the one in Parma heights, but I will say that Rosati’s is better priced and was relatively quick. I will definitely visit this place again and probably soon.

Super yummy custard! Always have chocolate and vanilla and a special of the day. Today’s special was banana and peanut butter and it was just as delicious as it sounds! So glad I stopped and checked it out!

Can never go wrong with rosatis! Everything is amazing! Be adventurous and try the flavor of the day. I while the set menu is amazeballs! I rarely order from it, i almost always get the flavor of the day! Best treat around for miles!

Other places think they have the best — but they haven’t been here — it is far and above the BEST ever — homemade ice cream doesn’t even compare to this frozen custard. We have asked for them to open another location — in Independence !!!

I LOVE Rosati’s. I live for the day the calendars come out so I can plan my visit to get Sea Salt Caramel. So yummy. I have never been disappointed, and even if you don’t like the flavor of the day, the vanilla custard is always delicious (I recommend a waffle cone)

Great flavor. Much better than East Coast. Pumpkin pecan in fall is incredible. I miss the North Olmsted store.

Best custard in Cleveland. Period.
Come here once, and you will be forever drooling driving down 82 west, even if you are intending on going somewhere else (odds are good you will end up here on your way there or back). You’ll look forward to the coming of spring just so you can have some more of this creamy goodness once again. You’ll probably even download the Rosati’s flavor of the day Calendar just so you can mark it down in your little black book what day of the month your favorite flavor will be back yet again.
The stuff is just sumptuous, fresh, and perfectly sweet. Nothing is more evocative of the energy and optimism of childhood on a summer’s night. The sundaes are also excellent– my favorite is the butterscotch nut, which is perfectly proportioned with a delicious nuanced sauce. The best flavor is coconut, which is built off of their already outstanding vanilla custard with coconut cream and lots of coconut meat. It’s perfect!
Definitely try it!

Rosati’s has some of the best frozen custard I’ve ever had! It’s so smooth and creamy and wonderful, and I love that it’s always so fresh. They’re a little pricier than some other ice cream places, but it’s nothing unreasonable and definitely worth it.
I always check their flavor calendar online so that I can stop by and pick up a quart of my favorites, which include their lemon meringue pie, pumpkin pie, «Grandma’s Cookie» (hahaha), and sea salt caramel. Seriously, the sea salt caramel is AMAZING and you need to try it.

Rosati’s rocks. They always have chocolate & vanilla, + a daily special. Turtle sundae is to die for.

An «offshoot» of Honey Hut ice cream, but serving frozen custard. Recently moved near a Rosati’s location and I have become an addict. It is soooo smooth and creamy. I literally put their «calendar» of flavors on my fridge and marked the days that I need to go try certain flavors. I’ve been eating Strickland’s for the past several years, and I can say that I like this custard even better! Good thing I don’t eat much, or I could easily pack on some weight at this place. :)
I tend to frequent the one in Northfield… lines can be huge, but they do move quickly, with an average of about 6 people working in the stand.

When I’m driving by on my way from Brecksville to Macedonia, I always check the two flavors of the day to see what they have ‘on tap.’ If it’s one of those weird combination flavors like raspberry-​chocolate-​hazelnut fudge swirl (I know-​I made that up) I forget it and go to the hardware store. These combos are all right but I don’t stop unless I see «Higbee’s Malted» which is a recipe they got from the Higbee’s department stores that went out of business years ago.
In the 60s if you went to a department store, they had snack shops that sold pretzels and hot dogs and something on par with a Wendy’s frosty in a cool glass called a ‘malt.’ People would take a break from shopping and have a snack.
I have been told that an entire generation of Clevelanders were raised on bribes from snack shops at Higbee’s. The mom told them if they shut up, she’d get them a malt. The kid shuts up. Mom pays up at the end of the day.
So, flash forward to today and the people who run Rosati’s frozen custard bought the recipe and twice a week, they run it through their machines and it is great. Life had to be better in the sixties because they sold this stuff next to the lingerie department.
If you see, ‘HIGBEE’S MALTED” on th sign, stop for it. It is simple, cold, delicious and worth the hassle of the tiny parking lot.
When you walk up to the window, you see what we call the ‘glacier of goodness’ flowing behind the workers. It is two parallel chutes of frozen custard sliding down from somewhere. They scoop some for you out of this little custard frozen river. Not as impressive as it sounds, but it’s a cool way to do business. Cones or cups are great. Don’t get anything on it since the toppings are window-​dressing.
I have tried a few of their flavors and have never been disappointed but the classics seem the best. Invariably the kid who gets lemon wishes she had gotten chocolate and they all wish they had gotten some of the Higbee’s like that old timer in the «USA» t-​shirt in the vintage car next to your hyundai.
