History
Established in 1992.
2nd Wind was founded by owner and CEO, Dick Enrico in 1992. 2nd Wind started as an idea scribbled on a T.G.I Friday’s napkin in 1991. At the time Enrico had a $ 2000 treadmill collecting dust and he’d recently sold an un-opened weight training machine for $ 200 less that he’d paid for it. The vision began to form around rentals, used exercise equipment, resale value, and trade-ins. The first store was a 1,800 sq foot abandoned print shop in St. Louis Park, Minnesota from which Enrico sold a jumble of used exercise equipment.
Since then, Enrico has built the company into a fitness leader with 50+ locations in 11 states.
In November 2004 the corporate offices moved from St. Louis Park to a 65,000 sq ft space in Eden Prairie that combined corporate headquarters, a distribution center and a commercial showroom. With more than 150 employees, 2nd Wind is the largest fitness equipment dealer in the Midwest.
Meet the Business Owner
Richard E.
Business Owner
Richard Enrico grew up in Chisholm, Minnesota the oldest of three children. Everybody in Minnesota knows Dick Enrico as the guy with the mustache who entertained them with TV, radio, and billboards advertisements. His zany ads with mustachioed babies and dogs on treadmills are meant to build brand awareness by making you laugh and remember 2nd Wind. Enrico came up with all of his own advertising ideas including 2nd Wind’s original slogan «Why buy new, when slightly used will do?»
