TipC Cupcakes

I have a friend who brings these by sometimes and they are always a huge hit. Today I finally went down there with my sister in law, what a great place! They are remodeling, but the place has a nice atmosphere and the guy working the counter was incredibly nice. And the cupcakes… YUM! Everyone needs to stop in, all the cupcakes are great, they even have a non alcoholic chocolate cupcake for the kids. Try the butter shots, and the mango margarita, and the black Russian, ack! Try them all!

Tip-​C Cupcake provided the dessert bar at our wedding. They offered us a free consultation and tasting. They customized the menu within our budget too. They were responsive and professional. Customer service is definitely top notch. As for the cupcakes and dessert, absolutely delicious! We had them create a menu with some Asian inspired desserts as well as include fan favorites like cheesecakes, fruit parfaits and of course alcoholic infused cupcakes! They arrived on time on the day of our wedding and blew us away with the presentation of our dessert bar (which matched our wedding theme). Ah-​mazing! Our guests complimented us on the sweet and scrumptious desserts all night.
Of course after that we became regulars at Tip C Cupcake.
As for the criticism over their frosting, I prefer the sweet subtle fluff which is what real butter cream frosting should taste like — airy and light as oppose to the death by frosting overtly sweet corn syrup stuff found at your local grocery store.

I lived in Rhode Island for the whole year of 2010 and moved to NYC in January 2011. This place has to be the only place I miss about Rhode Island!!! The cupcakes tasted amazing… not just because of the alcohol, but the flavors, the light fluffliness to them… I would by 6 or so just to eat by myself, or give them as gifts to friends… delicious!

Not good. We got a few dozen for a party and there were some courteous folks who liked them but most weren’t fans. We ended up throwing half of them away. They’re not really like cupcakes either, it’s hard to describe. I mean. where’s the frosting?

TipC Cupcakes’ specialty is alcohol-​infused cupcakes. Sure, they have non-​alcoholic flavors but where’s the fun in that?
We ordered three (2 chocolate varieties and a red velvet) and all were delicious. One of the chocolates was much smaller than the other, which everyone commented on. Not sure why there was such a huge difference.
This place was very difficult to find. There is hardly any signage and the front door looks like an empty building from the street.
There are many more flavors with alcohol than without, which makes this a difficult place to shop for an event. But the cupcakes were very good and unique!

I do REALLY love the cupcakes… but the hours are ridiculously inconvenient for working people. This place would do much better if they stayed open later… maybe turned into a classy lounge in the evening?

I can appreciate what TipC is trying to do here, but these cupcakes just aren’t for me. I’m a big fan of frosting, so the small dot of whipped cream on the top of these cupcakes makes them more like muffins than cupcakes for me.
My first visit was also a greeting from a girl that went something like, «Hello, well here’s what we have left». It was early afternoon, by the way, not the end of the night.
We bought half a dozen and ended up throwing most of them away. Which sucks, because I was really looking forward to loving this place.

Funnily enough, I had never really ridden the Cupcake Train until last weekend. After visiting Cup n’ Rol for the first time on Friday, friends of mine served TipC Cupcakes at a dinner party on Sunday.
The concept is genius: put booze in cupcakes. I tried the Cheating Wives (Pomegranate martini and wine), the Butter Shots (Butterscotch Schnapps and Vodka.), and the Pina Colada. Flawless. Presentation: gorgeous. Their every day offerings as well as their specialty catering cupcakes are works of art (check out their Facebook albums for some examples).
However, I am sad to report that I think the execution still needs to be honed. The consistency of each cake was incredible — fluffy as all heaven — and I found the frosting to be equally as light and fluffy. However, the flavors of the cupcakes themselves were too light. I am not a smack-​me-​over-​the-​head-​with-​sugar kinda lady — I enjoy subtlety in dessert — but this was just too subtle. I wanted to taste more!
I wonder if this is because alcohol is one of the major components of their product, and they are clear to mention that the alcohol burns off during the baking process. I wonder, too, if the flavor of the batter is also affected? I found that I enjoyed the Butter Shots cupcake the most, as there was a drizzling of butterscotch syrup on top of the frosting, lending a bit more to the flavor profile that the name suggests.
I really, really, REALLY love the concept. And I really, really, really wanted to love these cupcakes. Is there any way that the flavors can be nudged up a bit in the cake itself, or at least through the vehicle of the accompanying frosting? Hmmmm… If not, I just don’t know if the coolness of the concept balances the lightness of developed flavors in the cupcakes.

Groupon opens your world to some magical things. First it was a $ 200 class at Brown University and then ½ price for a dozen cupcakes from a lovely place called Tip*C Cupcakes.
Yes, I’m definitely comparing a Brown class to alcohol-​infused cupcakes. This place is that good.
I could sit here and list all the amazing concoctions they’ve come up with but it would take forever.
What stands out the most about this place is the presentation of their cupcakes. Not only do they taste INCREDIBLE (seriously, the BEST in the area), but they look almost too pretty to eat. Garnishes fit perfectly and the icing technique is clean and concise. (Sorry, that was my culinary degree talking.)
The location of the place is my only complaint as it is a bit tough to spot in the plaza if you’re driving by too quickly.
Overall A+ and definitely one of my guilty pleasures in Rhode Island.

This place is definitely an interesting cupcake joint. I really like the fact that they have such an assortment of different kinds of cupcakes based on various types of alcoholic beverages. The woman behind the counter was very helpful and friendly. My only gripe with the cupcakes would be with the ones that they use a strawberry garnish one, I didn’t like the fact that they keep the green stem on. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t find it appetizing and I end up taking the strawberry off the cupcake and eat all but the green stem. I think it takes away from actually being an edible garnish. I also think the buttercream frosting is overly buttery but compared to other places that say they’re cupcakes have buttercream frosting atleast here you know your getting what you paid for. Overall, pretty good!

I found this place through Groupon, and boy am I glad I did! I’ve been in search of a really good red velvet cupcake for a while now, and I think Tip*C is winning so far! Probably because they put booze in it. :)
I picked up a dozen as dessert for a wine and cheese party I was throwing. The service was very quick and friendly. I got one of each flavor they had available that day, and they were a huge hit! I really like that they don’t put ridiculous amounts of frosting on top… it’s just the right amount! And each one was topped off with fresh berries. Yummmmm!!! I will gladly return!

Stopped in on Friday for a dozen cupcakes to share with work friends. Cute little store with some seating. Had a good…15 or so options for cupcakes. Which are made with Boooooze! Hence «Tip*C» …tipsy? Get it? Who doesn’t love a good pun? This girl does!
Anyways, great customer service, enjoyed chatting with the guy. And not only was he a great help in the store, i called earlier to check their flavors of the day, and he quickly emailed them over! And! He labeled the cupcakes for me, cause i have the memory of a gold fish (5 seconds, fyi). I believe the favorite cupcakes were Guiness chocolate, strawberry champagne, and bailey kahlua and peanut butter. Also, they are very nicely presented with fresh berries and such on top.
Go here to get yr Nom on… it’d be a smart life decision.
