Shahab Mahboubian, DO, MPH – LA Orthopedics

I got in a car accident and sprained my shoulder and neck a few months ago. Dr. Mahboubian suggested we do an MRI of my neck and shoulder after he had examined me. After getting the MRI, he found out that there was a tear in my shoulder and disc bulges in my neck. I tried to avoid surgery and just deal with my injuries with therapy, but no matter what i did, the pain wouldn’t go away. Dr. Mahboubian did my shoulder surgery ‘arthroscopically’ and after some additional therapy, i was able to move my arm again without any pain. The surgery went perfect; it was quick and a smooth process. I wish i had listened to him earlier to get the surgery done because it ended up being a long process because I tried to work it out without the surgery.
He also got me set up with a pain specialist so i can get an epidural injection for my neck. After the injection, my neck pain also improved. I thank him for all of his attention and will go back to him if something ever occurs in the future (hopefully not). He is definitely a nice and experienced physician.

Dr. Mahboubian was really a lifesaver. First he had great bedside manner, his big smile put me at ease. Then he suggested that I wait and try medication and rest before jumping into surgery. Sure glad I did, Im back to normal and didn’t have to go under the knife

I recently saw Dr. Mahboubian for hyaluronic acid shots for each knee. He provided excellent care with a friendly and caring bedside manner. I will definitely return again when I need this procedure repeated and for any other orthopedic concerns. Being in the medical profession myself, I would say his front office staff could be more friendly when greeting patients as they walk in — the initial patient contact (eye contact, smile, and greeting) is remembered by all and his office would benefit from improving these skills. The doctor was great!

Dr. Mahboubian has to be one of the most caring doctors I have come across in my life. He truly cares for his patients well being and does everything he can to help advise and guide them in the right direction. Eventhough he gets paid for surguries, he does not push them on you. He always trys to find the least invasive way to help you get better first before reccomending surgury… not many surgeons you can say that about. He is honest and has a great heart. he is also a master at his craft. Not only is he my Ortho but I also sent my mother to him for surgury.
I highly reccomend seeing Dr. Mahboubian for a consult or second opinion.

I came to Dr. Mahboubian with a fractured foot in need of screws and a surgery. I got the surgery and was told to stay on crutches for three months. After the three months I got a CT scan and the doctor said the results were great and I was free to start walking. After one day my foot was in a ton of pain, I went back to him and he said it was soft tissue from being on crutches and it would get better. For a month it got worse and worse and I went back three times and the doctor or his assistant would say it was ok and would get better. I went to a physical therapist to get a second opinion and she looked at my CT scan and it said that the results say that the screw was backing out and digging into another bone and she wouldn’t treat me. I got a third opinion and they said the same. I had to get another surgery to get the screw removed and the doctor showed me on the original CT that it was clearly visible. How every doctor I saw came to the same conclusion and he did not makes me feel like he knew something was wrong and didn’t want to tell me or he did not want to deal with another surgery. Either way I was walking around with a screw digging into my bone that every other doctor and Ortho clearly saw and I wish he would have been honest with me about the CT results in the first place.

I was looking for a good quality orthopedic surgeon and while only few qualified to my standard, I made a decision to go with Dr. Mahboubian. It was an excellent choice. Dr. Mahboubian has helped me with my knee pain and performed a very important procedure.
I’m very satisfied with his services and outcome. He’s very attentive, informative and friendly. I would highly recommend his services to anyone who’s looking for a top notch professional.

My experience with Dr. Mahboubian as my orthopedic surgeon was excellent. I had a detached right-​arm tendon, and though reattaching was more complicated than initially thought, he was able to re-​attach and with PT, get me back to as good as new.
He and his office staff are exceptional, with excellent bedside manner, always listening and willing to follow through on my concerns, and accommodating my specific needs.
I will go back to Dr. Mahboubian with any orthopedic issues and I will highly recommend him to my friends, family and colleagues.

Dr Mahboubian performed my ACL Surgery. He’s very professional throughout my entire ordeal. Great bedside manners.

The nurse Denash was intentionally rude when she thought I had been discharged, I called in to ask for 2 mins of the Dr’s time she was shocked to realize I hadn’t been discharged, left me on hold for ever! Finally she gets back on the phone and rudely asks how she could go about helping, turns out she her self could write an Rx of pain killers for me.
I pick up the Rx, take it to rite aide, it is unclear and needs to be verified.
A whole day passes, I call rite aide, they left a msg for the nurse @ 10am. The nurse never returned the call. I will be without meds for yet another DAY. I called the Dr’s after hours service, he instructed them to tell me JUST CALL IN tomorrow. Zero fu$&s were given about my pain, pain Rx or, the nurses blunder. Tomorrow will be another day. I will update this…
Awful in every way.

I had a problem with one of my hips for as long as I can remember. Dr. Mahboubian suggested a treatment called PRP Injections after shots of cortizone failed to give me long term relief. Well… he is my hero! My hip feels 1,000 times better and no longer wakes me up at night.
His office staff is friendly and professional and always greeted me with a kind word.
