Audio Design and Service

These guys do not know what they’re doing. I have a broken AKG C451-​B microphone. AKG recommended them as a authorized service center. Here’s what happened:
* I brought my AKG C451-​B to Audio Design & Service telling them it’s output was about ¹⁄₁₀ of what it used to be. None of my preamps even have enough gain to bring it to proper level.
* After a week, they called saying nothing was wrong with it. I asked them to double-​check.
* After another week they called saying there was nothing wrong with it. They charged me $ 40 service.
* I got home and plugged it into several channels using several mic cables, moving all of the sliders on the mic with the same result: about ¹⁄₁₀ it’s normal gain.
* I sent it back to them. They tested it and agreed there is a problem. They said it needed a new capsule.
* After about a month, it was ready and I picked it up. They charged $ 62 for the capsule.
* I took it home and tested it. Same result, about ¹⁄₁₀ the output.
Needless to say, I am very disappointed. Anyone with half a brain could tell after plugging this mic in that something is seriously wrong in the output stage. They are nice guys, just VERY unqualified.

brought my speaker in and they made the issues with the speakers being unbalanced worse. I would find another adams rep.

I took my focal speaker that had some sort of noise that got worse. they returned and the issue started again with in the hour of use. second time around the same thing happened. TWICE!
so I asked for my money back, THEN the manager finally appeared and said it was an amped they needed to replaced. they did and now the speaker is ok. (finger crossed)
reading the above you don’t realize that its an hour drive for me, I did shipping which is pricey so the ordeal lasted two weeks. really poor customer service. like immensely poor. and thus the reason of the low stars.
this place is in a strip mall, the front desk guy doesn’t seem he knows what he is doing… like in life in general. and the back seems to be electrical engineers who doesn’t seem they know much about anything. not sure how they got a focal certification plate upfront saying they are the official servicing. im am contacting focal and letting them know and see if they can do some re certification and train these guys. at the end the reason they didn’t find the issue TWICE was due to a hard to find problem on the twitter. which is cool if it happens the first time around, but TWICE?!?
maybe they are better at alesis stuff, I dunno. its just my experience.

I dare you guys to find a better deal in southern California! Our company always goes to Norik for repair and maintenance. No matter what! vintage synths, latest compressors and midi controllers. speakers! top of the game!

Had my Nord Electro 3 fixed here. Got the audio input broken on Electro 3 by stepping on the cable that was connected to it. He simply replaced the connector and everything works fine now. Norik knew exactly what the problem was and was confident in the repair. I drove 10miles more to this location rather than to Advanced Musical Electronics in Venice because they gave me an invoice for $ 120. And Norik gave me a good price of $ 87 with tax. Only downside is that they don’t open an Saturdays. But other than that, great customer care, repair and price.

Norik and his staff at Audio Design and Service are utterly fantastic! They made me feel very welcome at their store and when I received my Korg M3M sampler back, Norik even showed me how to reset it.
This man is the last of a dying breed.. .great customer service and great customer satisfaction. You won’t be disappointed!

Don’t make your customers beg you for something you should do in the first place!
We took our Keyboard for warranty service here. But the same problem returned within 20-​minutes of play! Oh well, it happens, no problem. We took it back the next day.
They gave us a copy of the original invoice with the original date. We asked if we could get a receipt that would indicate our second service visit. The woman said, «Why? So you can blame it on us?» I’m not sure what that means, but I told them that I just wanted to have a record so that in case this problem becomes repetitive we have documentation against the Manufacturer. With a condescending tone, the main guy, Norik, said, «That’s not how it works now, even if it happens ten times you have no choice, you have to bring it back for service. You can’t do anything.»
I said I’d still like to have a record of every attempt at fixing this unit. He continued to belittle me. I mentioned again that I have no intentions towards them and that if this becomes a persistent problem I would be taking it up with the Manufacturer. He began to lecture me about what the laws are now and that I could not do anything. I said, I still have the right to take the Manufacturer to Small Claims Court even if I end-​up losing. At this time he got upset and told us, «In that case why don’t you just go to Court now.» He told us to take our Keyboard and leave!
I guess he got upset that I dared to think I just might have some rights. He rejected us because I asked him for a proper receipt which I am fully entitled to in the first place! Talk about Arrogance! Another case of «Take it or Leave it» attitude.
By the way, when we fist walked in and told him that we had the same problem again, he said, «What are you doing to it?» He was just as arrogant about assuming that we were at fault! Maybe I should’ve asked him why they didn’t fix the damn problem so we wouldn’t have to come back! Instead of showing concern that his work did not hold up, he is busy shifting the blame.
It’s one thing to make a mistake, but this type of conduct puts these guys in a whole other category. And like I said, Don’t make your customers beg you for something you should do in the first place.

Man, it is hard to find great service these days but these guys did me proud. They took the initiative in getting Yamaha to give me a $ 400.00 part for free even though I didn’t have a warranty. So, I only had to pay for labor. I felt taken care of and they kept their word on when the repair would be completed. No b.s. No hidden fees. Stellar service. Highly recommended!

After turning on my DJ mixer one morning after months of neglect, I was sad to hear the low hum of static. WTF? I hardly made any use of it and now it just went dead on me? I contacted the manufacturer and told them the situation. They would be glad to repair it if it was still under warranty. Unfortunately, I had none of the receipts for it as it was an EBay item. My next option was to send it to one of their authorized repair facilities, ADS. ADS specializes in repairing and servicing professional audio/​video equipment. I contacted ADS and was told that the problem might be the main circuit board. After learning it might cost $ 200+ to fix it, I was really trying to decide whether it’d be worth it or would getting a new one be a better option. Several more months went by and I was tired of not being able to cue up the 1’s and 2’s together. I bit the bullet and sent in the mixer to get it fixed. Several days later, ADS called to get authorization to fix the unit after their inspection of the problem. Turns out a few capacitators had burst and an IC circuit had blown. These guys (their technicians are Electronic Engineers) actually tested the individual components of the circuit board… I didn’t think they’d be that thorough. It was fixed within a week and all for under $ 100. Almost as good as new. Excellent professional service!
