We’re a Full-​Line Music Center locally owned and staffed with friendly, knowledgeable folks. We offer new and used instruments, tons of accessories, rentals, repairs, and lessons. You’ll find gifts, tools, strings, reeds, sticks, books, methods, local CD’s and so much more.

We actively buy used musical instruments and gear and welcome you to bring yours in for a free quote of value.

We’re authorized dealers for Fender guitars, Godin guitars, LAG guitars, Fox oboes and bassoons, Pearl drums, Marshall amps, Blackstar amps, Orange Amps, Accessories from Selmer, Vandoren, Korg, Yamaha, LP, and the list goes on and on.

Our on-​staff Luthier (guitar specialist) is here at least three days a week, and owner, Brian Charles is a general pro repairman and member of NAPBIRT doing repairs in-​house weekdays and some weekends.

We rent band instruments of all types as well as PA equipment and keyboards. All in great condition, fairly priced and ready to go.

History

Established in 2008.

Brian Charles, owner and founder, is a Juilliard trained multi-​instrumentalist who moved from NYC to North Conway over 20 years ago. His first business, Charles Double Reeds is a thriving catalog and internet specialty company for oboe and bassoon players. Over the years, so many locals asked if we could get a few strings or clarinet reeds, that we decided to expand a wee bit. What started in one corner of the store came to overtake the entire location, and we moved from 800 square feet to almost 4,000 square feet in 2012.

We stock many items, and we have access to thousands more by special order. In addition to repairs, rentals and new and used instruments, we added a lesson program in 2013, located in our renovated, soundproofed second floor. Currently, we teach strings, all woodwinds and brass, keyboards, composition, music theory and offer group lessons and workshops.

Business Owner

Brian Charles, owner and director is a Juilliard trained multi-​instrumentalist and long-​time professional performer. He founded Charles Double Reed Company in 1984. Brian moved his family and the business from Manhattan to Northern New Hampshire in 1994. He started North Conway Music Center in 2008. He is married to the love of his life, Sarah and they have a beautiful son, Theo. Brian has worked as a radio DJ, fruit picker, cookie baker and all the other things a professional musician pays his dues doing. He is a published composer and has recorded extensively on oboe, bassoon, clarinet, sax, flute, didjeridu and piano. He has played on video game soundtracks, television and radio commercials. He learned repair from Pedro Rivera in NYC, and continuing education through his pro membership in NAPBIRT.
