This place is awesome. Owner is so friendly and he does a great job with his staff. Lots of cool flavors and food.

I recently had the pleasure of stopping by RJ Scoops in North Canton on a recent road trip. I am from Clearwater FL and prior to that the suburbs of Philadelphia home of the «world famous» cheese steak! The cheese steaks at Scoops are hands down OVER & ABOVE any cheese steak I ever had in Philly or anywhere else. The sandwich is packed with meat, cheese, REAL cheese too not that processed «cheezwhiz» that they use in Philly, along with mushrooms, peppers and onions. Lookout South Philly, Scoops may soon be the new cheesesteak capital of the USA. I also sampled the crispy chicken sandwich, the burgers and the «coney», along with the fries, cut fresh and made every day with REAL potatoes. Everything was excellent all fresh ingredients never frozen and made fresh when you order it, a real taste buds delight.
I am not the biggest ice cream fan, crazy I know, but with the many flavors and choices of course I tried a few of them. The «kitty kitty bang bang» was a purr-​fect blend of vanilla ice cream raspberry cheesecake and loaded with chunks of Oreos. The «fat elvis» was a twisted blend of banana ice cream chocolate and peanut butter and «this s*** just got serious» was a unique blend of salted caramel ice cream sea salt chocolate and cashews. All the flavors were fresh, creamy and absolutely delicious.
I would definitely frequent this place on a regular basis, however it’s approximately + 1800 mile round trip for me and those sandwiches and ice cream treats could become quite expensive
Hats off to the owner and friendly and courteous staff for providing a great stop on my road trip through Ohio. This little gem should not be overlooked when passing through Canton. I am envious of all the locals that can stop by every day. Will definitely include Scoops on my next road trip or any time I am in the Canton area.

The ice creams and broad menu of flavors of them are simply delicious.
I have been their biggest fan of their version of a coney. They have the best sauce around.
Unfortunately I discovered after ordering my first of this season yesterday that the foot long coney this year– the coney sauce had nearly no hamburger in it.
I mean just a few little bits scattered here and there.
They also need to get back to serving a true foot long, not two separate hot dogs and buns in a ft. long container.
Guys, please stop the cheapening of your offerings. Increase prices if it comes to that.

We tried this place after we saw the reviews on Unilocal and we absolutely loved it!!! They make the cutest baby cones with faces (very fun for the kids my kids loved them!) they also have a small (like step2) little picnic table for kids to sit at which I thought was really adorable.
But what I love the most is their unique flavors!!! We stopped in tonight and I had «kitty kitty bang bang» which is vanilla ice cream with raspberry cheesecake and Oreo and it was delicious! My husband got a a butterfinger hurricane (which was already loaded with pieces) and they topped it with extra butterfinger pieces (something you pay extra for at other places).
The place is really tiny so I was surprised by the variety they had on the menu as far as sandwiches, sides, and shakes. This is going to be our new «goto» ice cream place!

I live very close to this Ice Cream shop – I drive past daily. They have a nice variety of flavors. My go to is the chocolate peanut butter and the wife’s is the buckeye blitz. I switched it up last night and got a Reese’s Peanut Butter Hurricane – it was loaded with peanut butter cups.
I appreciate how involved the owner is with this business. You see him there often or at least I assume he is the owner. Anyways, you can tell he cares about his customers and staff. The crew always seems polite and accommodating. Last night, I changed my order after paying and the teenage girl that helped me at the drive thru window was helpful and didn’t acted annoyed like other small town ice cream places would. (Yes, I’m taking about you Dairy Queen!!)

I tried Scoops this week while visiting relatives in North Canton. The black cherry ice cream was wonderful — in fact, I may need to go back for more before I leave here. The staff is really friendly too, we even got free samples. (who doesn’t love that?)

While I can’t give Scoops 5 stars; they are close.
My husband and I stop by Scoops frequently not jut because we love their ice cream and service but because our dogs go crazy for their bow-​wow bowls. Anyone who spoils their pets like we do can understand the draw. I was disappointed when the price went up this season to $ 1.25 from last season’s price of $ 1. It isn’t that I mind the extra quarter but it’s the convenience of it. Often when we’d stop at the gas station next door I’d grab a couple of dollars and run over and get two bow-​wow bowls for my dogs but now I have to fumble around looking for a couple quarters too and most of the time my husband is faster getting gas than I am hunting out those quarters so I’ve stopped doing that completely.
The service is always friendly and fast, no complaints. However, I do think it would go better if the ice cream flavors were posted on the drive through sign somewhere not just up on the window. I know I often have to take time sitting at the window unable to decide what I want while someone is waiting at the window to take my order. If I could study the flavor options before getting to the window so I’m not holding them up it would make everything go faster.
I also don’t like that there doesn’t seem to be any type of set hours whatsoever. There have been times that my husband and I want ice cream and are heading up Main St debating if we should stop at DQ because we don’t know if by the time we get up to Scoops they will already be closed and we’ll have to turn around and go back to DQ. A couple of times we’ve caved in and just gotten DQ then passed Scoops to see they are still open and regretted it. But we have no way of knowing.
I’ve never tried any of the food so I can’t comment on that.

I have to thank Randy S. for hooking me up at this place. This was a shocking treat for me since I remember when this place (this location, not sure on owner or name) opened years ago and I never thought much about it.
One question What is hard packed ice cream? I had never seen this name used for hand dipped ice cream. They have the soft serve, hard packed, and yogurt options. This seems like almost too much diversity but I am glad they have it.
I ordered the Peanut Butter Overdose (2.75 for one scoop) on a cake cone and I was highly impressed. it had swirls of peanut butter with bits of peanut butter cups in it. This was one of my favorite treats of ice cream in some time. Maybe I give this five stars for the shocking value of the place along with location, but I will want to hit this place up the next time I am in town. I also had the pleasure of finishing my wife’s salty caramel truffle which was pretty good. I didn’t understand the salty part since I tasted only caramel and truffle. It doesn’t quite do Jeni’s salty caramel but I am a C-​Buser so anything that is similar doesn’t match up. I would just call this Caramel Truffle. This place was busy for a a windy below 60 degree night. They also have some odd flavors like Baklava and Oatmeal Cookie Crunch which I would like to try sometime.
BTW: One scoop was big enough and I would say to big for the little ones.

I have driven past this place numerous times and never even thought about trying it. Finally, I stopped to get some ice cream and I was pretty shocked by how good it was.
They had (I think) 33 different flavors of ice cream. Usually, I have only 6 – 7 of those flavors that I would be really interested in tasting. This place probably had close to 15 flavors that I really was curious about and wanted to taste. I tasted the baklava ice cream and it was decent but not worth an entire cone in my opinion. I ordered the salty caramel truffle which was not the best salted caramel ice cream I’ve had but it was quite good. I loved the little truffles in there. It’s reasonably priced at $ 2.75 for a small and you get a good portion. I definitely want to go back and try some more flavors.

A true 5 star place. What a treat to have a locally owned and operated gem here in North Canton and minutes from my house.
My daughter loves the ice cream. They know her by name. I had their cheesesteak which is fantastic. It is very close to an authentic from Philly. I used to live in Philadelphia, so I am a bit of a cheesesteak snob, but Scoops does it right. Can’t believe it’s only $ 4.50.
Don’t let the modest exterior fool you. Give it a chance.

Scoops appears to be a typical walk-​up ice cream stand on Cleveland Avenue in North Canton. It is far more than that.
Start with the ice cream. They have soft-​serve and 18 flavors of hard-​dip ice cream from a creamery in Michigan. There are some stellar flavors in the line-​up, including Key Lime Pie and Coconut Avalanche.
I ordered a raspberry milkshake. He pointed out as he handed me the milkshake that there are raspberry seeds in the milkshake, because they use real fruit. Awesome. This runs circles around the other stands who use syrup or flavoring for their milkshakes.
The sundaes are large, with free nuts, whip cream, and cherry. They advertise in the window that they are using Ben Heggy’s cashews.
When we bit into the hot fudge, I realized it was the best hot fudge that we’ve encountered in our summer-​long quest for the best ice cream in Summit/​Stark/​Portage counties. I made the leap that this must be Ben Heggy’s fudge, since the previous best hot fudge that we encountered this summer was Heggy’s. However, with a gleam in his eye, he said no, that the hot fudge is a concoction of his own making. I made the owner smile when I told him this was the best we’ve found, and we’ve been looking area-​wide all summer. The hot fudge, is thick, rich, dense. It is NOT like the places that try to pass off warmed-​up chocolate syrup. Here is a guy who is making his own hot fudge, and is rightly proud that he is doing it right.
So, now I am hooked and realize that Scoops will become our new default Stark County place to start to look for ice cream. It is already late August and I have to figure out how much longer he will be open for the season. He pointed out that he plans to make a go of boxed lunches, since his food is better than typical ice cream stand food. So, today, I tested that out. The take-​out menu says that they welcome call-​ahead orders. I call them, order a meatball sub, say I will be there in 10 minutes. 9 minutes later, I arrive at the drive-​up window, and a hot meatball sub is ready. Thick toasted bread, meatballs, tasty sauce and just the right amount of cheese.
Next time you find yourself near North Canton, give Scoops a try.
Real fruit in shakes, the combination of chocolates in their homemade hot fudge is thick, rich, dense, NOT like the places that just heat up their chocolate sauce

Great home made ice cream. I got the cotton candy flavor and it was AMAZING!!!

Outstanding customer service and great ice cream mark RJ Scoops as a rising star in the Northeastern Ohio ice cream stand industry. Their vanilla soft serve is smooth, creamy – a pop of cool comfort delivered at just the right temperature to maximize flavor. Employees know frequent customers by name and preferred flavor, going out of their way to please their patrons.

One of the quaint aspects of this part of the country are all the homemade ice cream stands that open around this time of year. What sets Scoops apart from other places like Pav’s is that fact that there are chunks in their ice cream. I’m not a big fan of just smooth ice cream — I need something to bite into be it nuts, chocolate chunks, or all of the above.
Like most of the stands, Scoops has their standard flavors then they have their flavor of the month/​week. I tried the Coconut Avalanche which was delicious with chunks of almonds and chocolate along with the coconut. My wife tried the Red Velvet (limited time) which had chunks of cake in it — also delicious.
Although we didn’t try them, they also have soft serve as well as a variety of snack bar style hot foods (nachos, fried goodies, etc.).
This will definitely be our «go to» for ice cream this season.
The smallest scoop of ice cream (which is pretty hefty) is $ 2.75 and prices go up from there.
