For a Milk Run or whatever, very good in a pinch. I go there all the time. The little Indian Man behind the counter is the sweetest person on the Planet…

When i moved from Newton Centre to the highlands, i thought i’d be sacrificing some of the wonderful amenities that i’d grown used to. The spectrum of multiethnic foods steps away, the teenagers overrunning it, Johnny’s, Union St., JP Lick’s. All good things. But when i moved here, there’s one thing that i use more often than all the rest of them combined – the Store 24. For one, it is actually open 24⁄7(and i’ve been in there at some ungodly hours and not been alone). It has pretty much everything; if the vast options of the take-out district aren’t doing it for me, i can put together any number of tasty meals from the overpriced yet convenient ingredients crammed onto its short but bountiful shelves. Usually it’s just gatorade for me, sweaty after a run. Sometimes it’s potato chips or junkfood after a night out drinking. Either way, it’s ridiculously convenient; probably too much so. Do i save more in gas, not driving to the grocery store, or do i spend more on the convenience-store-priced goodies? Unsurprisingly, i’m too lazy to figure that out. Until then, i’ll keep buying junk from the friendly country-music-listening folks of the Store 24 at the corner of Walnut & Centre.
