I feel bad for this Walgreens. Really. Especially the employees… I am TRYING(key word!) to be lenient to them. It’s Newton Center, and I’m SURE they would have moved into a larger storefront if possible, and a spot with a better floor. Specifically, the floor of this place is extremely dirty, creaky, and extremely worn out. The aisles are SO narrow, barely one carriage fits down them(check out the pictures I posted…). It is impressive this store carries mostly every item other, larger Walgreens stores carry, so don’t judge this place by its cover(well, storefront really)! Plus, this Walgreens is at least a little bit better than the CVS store on Needham Street(the one across the street is much better though, unfortunately). For the staff, they are all very friendly and kind. Specifically, my cashier was very friendly and efficient ringing up everyone in line, which was a nice surprise, as lately employees other places have been extra slow, ugh! Overall, this is a fine place to get grocery & pharmacy needs in Newton Centre, but CVS just a block away on Centre Street is better. 3.5 stars.

The worst. Limited merchandise. Incompetent employees. Makes CVS look like a Four Seasons. Only come here if in dire need of an easy to find item.

old management good, recent management sucks. You have the butchy girl who while is pleasant, rarely talks. If you come in the evening as I do… you will have a sweaty, dripping, and smelly, Russian guy with terrible breath who spits on you when he talks, ringing you out as slowly as he possibly can. Walgreens has a new card, like racking up points for savings. At night when there is only one ringer, they will have an extremely long line, and he will prompt everyone to sign up like he is making money per sign up, and he probably is. But really at night, when it adds 4 minutes to each transaction before me, and when the line only gets longer. Stupidity. One day I was psyched to get to the pharmacy before they closed, dropped off the script, and walked the store for a couple minutes, waiting to be called i looked back and watched the gate close and the pharmacy shut down. I transferred my scripts to target, now have no reason to ever come back. Sadly, no fight in walgreens, no sorry to see you go, no coupon to bring my scripts back. Sad. I used to work at this store. Now I wouldn’t even throw a brick through its window. Just not even worth it anymore.

Passing through the area and stopped here. Did not have a pleasant experience. It was late in the evening and my five year old was playing with one of the toys in the toy section when this Nazi manager came down the aisle and rudely told him he could not play with the toy and ripped it out of his hand. I’m not saying that my son was right by any means, I’m just saying he’s five year’s old. Even the Nazis know that aint right.

Almost made three stars but for the fact that it’s just not a pleasant shopping experience at all. I’d call this Walgreens a necessary evil… it’s cheaper than the nearby CVS and has a decent selection of health and beauty aids and it’s open convenient enough hours to meet one’s needs in a pinch. However… the layout inside of the store, the crowd that seems to be in there, the biZarre parking… in short, the overall shopping experience… is just not pleasant. I don’t like it at all, so while it might be necessary at times it’s just not a nice place. Wouldn’t go there unless I had to, but if I had to, I’m sure it would meet the need.

This is a very strange place. I do not, at all, understand what its doing in Newton Center — especially with CVS no more than 20 yards away. I’ve walked in a few times for small things like a Coke or a greeting card. and always get creeped out. The cards and drinks sections are rarely stocked well(I have, in fact, been unable to get a damn Coke!) and as mentioned — checking out is painfully slow. I think there’s a reason for this, but it really seems odd and again gives you a strange feeling. I will give them some credit though, for actually having Scrabble and some other board games, among the other random piles of stuff. They have a tendency to put the wrong signs on the wrong items at checkout, beware. You might *think* you are getting 2 bags of mini-eggs for the price of one — but you’ll end up paying $ 5 somehow. And lets not forget, there’s ALWAYS someone selling something outside at the door. I just don’t get how this place is still there.

I love drug stores. I love walgreens. They have everything! It’s incredible! GREATFOR: check out the foreign and cutesy lotions and other products section– they have really good, and super sophisticated items.
