Great doctor and a great guy. Office staff and hygienists are also top notch which is a rare combination.
I found Dr. Chafkin when I wanted a mouthguard instead of a CPAP to manage my sleep apnea and then made him my regular dentist. I drive 45 minutes each way because he is that good.

I have been going to Dr Chafkin for over 15 years! He is very professional and caring as well as his staff! He has always listened to whatever my needs are and made me feel comfortable. IF your looking for the «BEST» he’s the one!

I have been coming to Dr. Chafkin for over 30 years. I hope he never retires as I don’t know what I’d do! The entire staff and Zina are great. I would highly recommend Dr. Chafkin to anyone looking for a dentist.

If you are looking for a competent, caring, patient and «pain free» dentist– then Dr. Chafkin is the Dentist to see! I have undergone almost every dental procedure and I can say all of them were painless! Not even a twinge of any kind of pain!!!
Dr. Chafin, is patient, caring and concerned with every single one of his patients!!!
He takes time to both explain each procedure, ensure that you the patient are comfortable, and thoroughly understand what is going to happen during your visit.
He is the very best!!! And his staff are great! This entire office staff is as caring and concerned as he is! I look forward to my dental visits and I know that you will certainly agree with me! Thank you Dr. Chafkin and everyone in your practice!!!

First, I’d like to preface this by saying that I hated going to the dentist’s. In fact, I hated it so much that I hadn’t gone in 3 – 4 years. I mostly dreaded the guilt-​factor. When I had a deep ache in one of my molars, I knew I was in trouble and had to find a dentist.
I found Dr. Chafkin’s office here on Unilocal and the overall reviews looked great. His office is convenient and parking is easy. He’s not in on Fridays, but he does appointments as early as 8am, which is convenient. On my first visit he didn’t shame me about how long it had been since I’d had a cleaning or check-​up. He did have to deliver some bad news about the amount of cavities I had, but I expected that. My teeth were a mess.
The dentist himself is respectful to his staff and kind to his patients. He also seems to be a perfectionist about his work — I mean this in the best way possible. My white amalgam fillings look flawless. They may as well not even be there.
His services are not expensive per se, but dental work in general is expensive and his rates are about average. After spending a bundle for a root canal at an endodontics practice, I needed a post and crown — not cheap. I was in a bind as my dental insurance had run out. I was able to get a CareCredit-​type card, but I quickly maxed it out for only part of what I owed. The kind office manager cut me some much-​needed slack and allowed me to pay what I could at the time and pay the rest at my next appointment. I was also able to negotiate slightly lower costs for my remaining dental work for the remainder of the year, as I’m now paying out-​of-​pocket.
As long as I live nearby, I plan on sticking with this dentist.

Great team and he helped me out when I lost a crown and had a meeting. His desk manager is amazing and very personable.

It was a disappointing five minute free consult. The Doctor advertises a free consult by mailing a postcard to everyone. Hard sell advertising is a real red flag for Dentists. And it was just like that during my appointment, therefore the Doctor was merely a let down. I consulted with the Doctor for a particular implant issue and I left with the unintentions of never coming back. The Doctor’s unhelpful reactions discouraged me to start to work at his practice. The previous posts are nonsense unless I just encountered the Doctor at his busy day. The Doctor didn’t do anything for me, was rude, inpatient and gruff.
His Receptionist bugged the hell out of me to confirm the appointment. The office was unresponsive after I left. The Receptionist was unfriendly and unprofessional in the greeting. Upon entering the office, the Receptionist merely told me my name, acting surprised I arrived.
Dr. Chafkin begs new patients for a consult and is unkind to his new patients. Dr. Chafkin should close his doors and keep his gruff attitude away. I wouldn’t believe any of the advertisements. A bad practice.

Dr. Chafkin and his staff are great! I had a lot of anxiety about getting some fillings done after having a really terrible experience elsewhere. While completing my dental work Dr. Chafkin really eased my nerves by talking me through the experience and being as gentle as possible (not to mention he introduced me to the wonders of nitrous!). His dental assistants and office staff are very friendly too. I would highly recommend Dr. Chafkin!

This is a great practice. As others have noted, it’s small and Chafkin is the only dentist. He invests a lot in new equipment and seems to stay up-​to-​date. I’ve never felt like they were rushing me out of the office and appointments start close to on time.
They’ve always taken great care of me. I can’t think of anything I’d change.

A very good dentist. He fixes teeth and likes to play golf (actually he plays a little less golf since he hurt his knee). Not too expensive either.
Also Doc Chafkin keeps his office equipment very up-​to-​date with a digital x-​ray system and a tooth camera.

So yeah… this is about my dentist… I lead an exciting life. ;)
I’ve been going to Dr. Chafkin for a little over a year and a half and I have nothing but good things to say about him. I ended up at his office due to a lack of insurance and a coupon that appeared in my mailbox. The office is very small, just him, a secretary, and 2 hygienists and everyone is very friendly and accomodating. My mouth is a bit complicated and from my very first visit the hygienist took the time to ask me questions and also kept me informed as to what she was doing and why. Dr. Chafkin is a pretty straight shooter, and has never pressured me into anything I didn’t want or couldn’t afford. I go there for general dentistry but he also does cosmetic procedures as well. Once I had to have a filling replaced and he talked to me before the procedure about what to expect, asked if I had any questions or anxiety, and also kept me informed as to what he was doing during the procedure.
If there is a downside it’s that the office is only open from 9 – 5, Monday-​Friday. It’s not an issue for me but it may be for some.
All in all, I’ve had nothing but positive experiences at this dentist and continue to go there even without insurance or a coupon because he’s worth it.
