My son wanted to learn Tae Kwon Do for a while and after searching and visiting other local places, we decided for this place even though the only time that worked for the working parents like us was on the weekends. Because I wanted my son to take the family lesson class, I had to sign up for the class. We should have taken it as a red flag when they required us to sign up and pay for the 6 months classes. Stupid us. Anyways, the teaching style there did NOT work for my son nor me. They focused way too much on forms and not much on activity. Each class is about 45 mins to an hour which I think it’s way a bit long for a 6 yr old kid. The class was boring enough so that I ended up looking at the clock like every minute. The thing my son and I didn’t appreciate the most is that one of the instructors was constantly pointing out kids and threatening them that he would kick them out of the class if they didn’t pay attention. It was really odd and uncomfortable. Needless to say that we dropped out after 5 lessons. Anyway, this just didn’t work for our family and we learned a $ 1400 lesson. Ouch! I am giving 3 stars instead of 2 is that they keep the facility quite clean. The other instructors including the master were fine but they didn’t teach my son’s class. :( I wish we had s better experience since this was the only Tae Kwon Do place that looked decent. Sigh.

Excellent Taekwondo School !!! This school is very family-oriented. They care about their students a lot. They give importance to the students learning Taekwondo really well and being discipline(inside and outside the school).

Best school I have ever seen, bad reviews coming mostly from disgruntled parents who think their kids should be allowed everywhere even if their behavior is disruptive and abnoxoius, thank god this school doesn’t cater to the whims of such kids and parents with such attitudes

What a shameful attitude Jae Hun Kim! You’re an insult to martial arts spirit! My wife took our twin boys to your school and after«testing» them for 15 minutes, you decided they were not worthy of your school. Just so you know, despite their young age, both our boys have been attending a REAL Taekwondo school for over a year in the Chicago area where we came from. I wouldn’t even waste my time showing you the numerous videos attesting for their ability to learn and progress when coached by a REAL master unlike you. Making a judgment on kids after observing them one time for 15 minutes(on a day that they may have been a little tired from a long day, maybe?) and deciding they were not good enough for you is just a disgrace. A good coach for kids is one that does not discriminate, accepts the responsibility and the challenge to teach EVERY child, not sherry pick the ones HEONLY thinks are worthy of learning. So much for equal opportunity for children! We are actually so pleased not to take our kids to your school as quite a few REAL schools are excited to teach our kids this noble martial art. Your elitist and discriminatory approach and poor judgment are despicable. Shame on you Jae Hun Kim, you should be banned from teaching Taekwondo or anything else for that matter!

I highly recommend this place for kids and adults alike — great instructors that are great with children — I have two kids in their program for the past two years and my youngest starts this fall — I even started up this past year and enjoy the family classes with my kids. What I like best is you’re not buying a ‘time slot’ as with most other kids activities — you pay one monthly price and go to as many classes as you’d like — and there are classes everyday(including the weekends) for the kids, adults or both — and the price is what I other places charging for just one class a week when I was checking them all out to decide where to send my kids. And you’re not locked in either as we put our membership on hold while away during the summer… I also really liked that they teach tae kwon do to the kids from the start — we checked out a few other places around and the kids classes were like Gymboree or Mygym type programs — I have plenty of options on where to take my kids for that type of stuff, so I’m glad I found Jae H Kim in Newton for the martial arts instruction we were looking for.

Best Tae Kwon Do school in town! For both adults and kids; Mr. Kim’s style and training are unparalleled. In 2009, he received the«School of the year» award from Mooto — which is a _Korean_outfit. Tae Kwon Do is the Korean national sport and a school in America got this award! That says a lot. The school has a great atmosphere, comradery, and a really workable schedule too.(They’re open 10am — 10pm!)
