My fiancé told me he wanted to stop at Alex & Co «to get his dad’s tie tack fixed» while on our way to Marshall’s to go shopping. Imagine my surprise upon entering the store to find his mother’s diamond on the tray, and the entire staff, including Alex, laughing and wishing us congratulations as my fiancé got down on his knee to propose. Alex came out with the perfect setting for the ring, even dissuading us from using larger diamonds in the setting (which would have earned him more money!) because they would have taken away from the beauty of the center stone. An honest businessman, if ever there was one! When the ring was done, we could not believe how amazing it was. Complete strangers, such as airline staff checking me in for a flight, often compliment me on this beautiful ring. I cannot stop looking at it! If you are buying an engagement ring, save yourself all of the trouble the process can be and just go to Alex. I traveled to NYC and back to Boston and shopped online for weeks looking for the perfect ring and diamond combination. I dealt with all sorts of challenges until I went to Alex. Alex was able to design exactly the ring we wanted; I mean exactly with all of the subtle elements we wanted; in fact he even improved upon some of our ideas. He surprised us in so many ways: sifting through many diamonds to find the perfect one while keeping the price very affordable and surprising us by preparing the ring more quickly than we could have imagined! He took any and all questions from us, took pride in his work and will be our jeweler going forward. Wonderful guy, amazing skill, great prices.

I recently purchased an engagement ring from Alex and Co. in Newton. Using my mother’s nearly perfect diamond, Alex fashioned an exquisite ring using smaller diamonds to enhance and highlight the original diamond’s sparkle. I’m not sure to express how thankful I am to Alex and Co for designing such a beautiful engagement ring. They went above and beyond in every way. The most valuable thing they added to the conversation, besides of course the ring, was saying no to certain ideas I had because they knew they wouldn’t come out like I expected. They instead knew what I was going after, and helped me to come up with an alternate solution that would fit the same need and look nice. The ring in the end was gorgeous. While I would like to say I gave direction, it was absolutely their artistry that made it turn out so beautiful. I would and have highly recommended their business, and look forward to getting future pieces there.

Alex & Co was my first and last stop when shopping for an engagement ring. I came in with very little knowledge about diamonds and had no idea where to even start. Daniel sat down with me and was extremely helpful. He took his time to educate and guide me through the process. I truly felt like an expert after spending an hour with Daniel.

I Love Alex and co. I have purchased a few items there and they are well made, interesting and beautiful. I have only dealt with Alex who is professional, knowledgable and kind. He made ma a ring in 18k with 6 diamonds (for my 6^th anniversary) and it is exquisite!!! Everywhere i go i get so many compliments.

My fiancé purchased my engagement ring from Alex & Company and I have to say I am more than thrilled! The quality of the diamonds in this ring is impeccable and I really believe that Alex only carries the best quality of jewelry. Best. Engagement. Ever! My husband (we got engaged in June and married last month), and I never spoke about rings, and when I opened that ring box I was so elated, because the ring was AMAZING! He designed and explained how he wanted it to look, and Alex & Co nailed it to perfection. My husband said the process was fun, stress free, and a breath of fresh air from some other companies he was working with prior. Thanks to Alex & Co for being a huge part of our engagement, and allowing me to smile everyday when I look at my ring:) What a day, what a ring… what a man!

My Fiancé recently proposed with the most beautiful engagement ring! It was a ring that little girls dream of receiving one day, a one of a kind engagement ring. My Fiancé wanted to create a ring that would have special meaning and Alex & Company helped him do just that! They put a lot of thought into making this ring an ideal ring. For starters it was designed in such a way that I could wear it confortably all day even while working (I’m a nurse), which I’m sure was a challenge. The way it was designed prevents it from snagging on rubber gloves which makes me an even happier client! According to my Fiancé they accomodated all of his requests and ideas and were extremely helpful and pleasant throughout the whole process. We will need to pick our wedding bands soon, and I know exactly where we’re going! Alex and Company, ofcourse!

YES! YES! YES! What a wonderful jewelry store! My husband and I came not really knowing what we were looking for as a gift for me for our 20^th anniversary and we were welcomed and guided so kindly through our decision. While we did not have a huge budget it didn’t seem to matter. The woman who began to help us was wonderful. She then brought Alex himself out to talk with us. He spent so much time with us presenting ideas. We selected a ring setting that was beyond gorgeous and he offered ideas about utilizing my original center stones which would make the ring even more custom. He then was able to complete the ring in time for Thanksgiving so my family could see my beautiful ring.
I’d like to add that when I got nervous about having made the decision so quickly (not my MO) he called me back right away and was so wonderful in reassuring me about my decision. When we picked the ring up I agreed with him 100% — we had made the right decision.

My fiancé bought my engagement ring from here and I could not be happier! It is absolutely beautiful! The ring was a little loose, so I went there to have it resized. They were more than gracious and accommodating to me. Thank you for helping my fiancé create such a beautiful ring for me!

I am not one to «get in to» the hype of jewelery, in fact I dislike the idea of it entirely, but I appreciate its value to my fiancé, which lead me to write this review. I recently bought my (now) fiancé’s engagement ring from Alex and Company. On my journey to buy the ring I visited many small and large box jewelers, none of which made me feel as comfortable, confident and at ease as Alex did. From my first conversation to the last (just today) they have been nothing but professional and courteous, not to mention the ring is truly beautiful. I was amazed with Alex’s patience with me and willingness to educate me (all while selling to me… but hey, it is a business right… never pushy though).
My review was very close to being relatively negative based on an experience that we just had… Only two months in to wearing the ring, I learned that one of the small diamonds fell out of the setting (lost), which I must say really irritated me. My experience and overall feeling towards the company could have gone one of two ways based on the way they handled this issue. I called and spoke to Alex today and explained the problem, with out even thinking he assured me that they would take care of it, and «not to worry». We promptly brought it in only few hours later. They replaced (no charge) the small diamond, and set it while we waited…15 minutes. I think that if a jeweler can create such beautiful work and stand by their work, they can be trusted and must be considered when making your next purchase.

Terrible service run by angry old ladies. I called in to put a deposite on a setting which I would continue to make payments on. Unfortunately medical bills got in the way of me paying off sooner. The setting never left their possession and I made constant payments.
Unfortunately things didn’t work out with lady I was dating so I called to ask for a refund. I asked if there was a restocking fee and was told 15% of total price. I agreed as I realize that item could have been sold setting during this time but charging 15% of the total value as a restocking fee vs what was paid is pretty low.
Well after two weeks of no refund I come to find out not only did they keep my credit card information on hand after explicitly stated not to do so, they refunded to a bank account I no longer had open. The sales lady I was speaking with told me there is nothing they can do since the money left and didn’t come back. She then told me I should go track down the money. I politely asked if she could check with her accountant since with a bad back, weeks from surgery, I’m not very mobile at the moment. I was very patient as I waited for the sales lady to check with their accountant to find out where the money went.
After a month of waiting with little to no contact I once again called in. I was very polite again and explained this was not my fault and they need to refund my current account. If they still will not I would have no choice but to dispute the charges with my bank.
Upon hearing that the sales lady SCREAMED into the phone that I was very lucky they were going to allow a refund in the first place, insulted me, then hung up the phone. Now if it was not their policy to provide refunds that should have been stated before the deposite was made. Regardless, yelling at a customer trying to make them feel bad and act as if you’re doing THEM a favor is completely uncalled for.
I would HIGHLY advise anyone and everyone thinking about shopping here to take your money else where.
Also if you do a little thinking and looking you’ll notice a troubling trend. Consistant 5 star reviews by random people who only write one review immediately after signing up on Unilocal?Good thing Unilocal filter is working because these status inflating reviews are not working.

Alex, your statements below are so far off from what happen that I suggest you speak with your wife again and ask her to be honest. I’m so grateful for Unilocal,it puts the power back into the consumers hands and holds people like you accountable.
1.You never mentioned that I was a «special case» nor did you say anything about the purchase being a layaway that your company doesn’t provide. If your entire cliental is cash paying on the spot (as you claimed in the voicemail you left me) then that is great for you. However not everyone can spend that kind of money at the drop of a hat. If you did not want my business they you should have said sorry, cash only on the spot. That is no way my fault in any way shape or form.
2. The credit card your wife refunded was what I used to make the initial payment 10 months ago. All subsequent payments were from my new bank account. Why did I do that? Because I changed banks. When did I do it? A few weeks after making that initial payment to you. So in short, me closing my bank account 10 months ago and your wife refunding a card that I made one payment with instead of the most recent one is my fault how exactly? Your wife even said she refunded to the account I made the last payment with. If that was the case then the money would have made its way to me. Your wife screwed up and failed to recognize the issue. I have a receipt she mailed me showing the refund to the wrong bank account. After explaining to your wife the mistake she refused to believe she did anything wrong. Furthermore you do realize its illegal to keep credit card numbers/​info on had without consumer consent don’t you?
The situation was fully in control, your control. Plain and simple she screwed up, I had no refund, and she refused to do anything about it. What should have happend is my current account should have been refunded while YOU chase down YOUR banking error.
3. Putting aside all the frustration and nonsense I dealt with up to that point I remained very polite and very patient. The last straw was pulled when your wife SCREAMED at me over the phone, INSULTED ME, Then HUNG UP THE PHONE before I could even say «what?». I never once raised my voice nor did I make any disrespectful comments. That is not how you treat customers/​people. Plain & Simple.
4. I wasn’t able to «afford» your diamonds because I can get diamonds at cost elsewhere. The setting is what my GF really wanted which is why we ended up at your place. Thanks for making it seem like I’m a poor uneducated person though, classy.

Not sure what these people are talking about when they say they received bad customer service at this store. I have never gotten anything but superb service here!
This is a true Family Business, as genuine as they come. This is one of the only places in the area that specializes in custom jewelry, with amazing designs too. They have Best of Boston awards to prove it. Whoever is writing these terrible reviews is just a vindictive, petty person trying to ruin this lovely store’s reputation.
I love my bling bling and the Zamsky’s have an abundunce of the highest quality stones and some interesting settings.
When he likes it and he puts a ring on it, i’m sending him to Alex & Co :)

Great experience at Alex & Co! I’ve brought in several items of jewelry to the store and each piece was fixed perfectly and shines even brighter now. I also purchased a gift for a relative here because they have a nice selection of rings, necklaces, and earrings. I have my eyes on a pair of earrings there which I hope to receive as an anniversary present soon ;) Thank you to the great team for their wonderful customer service!

I will say like I do in all reviews — that I am a pain in the a** to deal with. I needed a custom necklace made for a family member, and I was really getting sick of being pressured by the halhalash guys at downtown crossing. Plus, I like doing business in english and the downtown crossing guys don’t speak a word of it.. This is not a huge store; in fact they keep most of their designs a secret because they’re one time special orders. In any case, I was absolutely clueless as a consumer and buyer of jewelry, and was afraid of being ripe for the pickings to be ripped off by an unscrupulous dealer. The opposite happened. To be frank, Alex and Daniel spent quite a bit of time with me on this purchase at the expense of addressing other customers, because I had a lot of dumb questions. I walked out of there with a design that was 100% unique at the price I wanted. I won’t divulge pricing because it was custom.
Alex and Daniel basically stood next to me for over an hour patiently answering my extremely ignorant questions and explaining how the custom design jewerly process actually works, how to pick, what to pick, what are the actual price points — what you should spend money on, what you should NOT spend money on… etc…For me it was very important that the design was unique — that’s why I came to their store. I didn’t want to buy something at 300% markup from some guy at downtown crossing that everybody else had been wearing for years. It was also important that somebody actually answered all my questions instead of ‘guiding me’ to a buying decision. I smell high pressure sales like a shark, and there were NONE here whatsoever. It was almost as if I felt like I wanted to make a purchase because I was so impressed with the way they do business. As a small business owner myself I’m really envious of the way they handle each customer.
